this helps me even after all these year. now my car is fixed without spending money changing the sparkplug and sparkplug cable

I agree, going on the cheap is justified to gain more time to either save for the repair or a new car. Good luck I will be following your progress.

Great way to do a 'dry' compression test with the compressor fitting. Def a excellent way to determine where the leak is coming from.

A trick: you can watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.

We didn't do a compression test . The car is runs and drives strong , I don't hear any knoking on the engine , is just the shaking ... Do you have any suggestions pls ... I love your videos!

Hi I am from Greece and I have the same problem. Missfires at 2nd and fourth cylinder. My mechanic can't find the problem. Do you want to tell me if you want a cheap solution.? Thank you.. Very nice channel.

Very educational video, thank you. My first thought was going to a scrap yard and getting a used head to throw on it. Would that not be a good option here?
@50sKid7 жыл бұрын
It is an option for sure, however I will manage to find a nicely cost effective solution to the problem in the end. Stay tuned!

HELP PLEASE. 2001 Kia Sportage lean bank 1. Has newer 02 sensor and Ive checked all the vacuum lines that I could find and can't figure out how to get this code solved. Poor gas mileage, gas fumes and rough idle at times Are there other vacuum lines behind the throttle body or behind head??
@50sKid6 жыл бұрын
Get a scan tool that has live data -- I have a video about a foxwell one that has it. You need to view your fuel trims. Look at your fuel trims at idle and compare them to your trims at 3000 RPMs. If the total fuel trim goes down, you have a vacuum leak. If the fuel trim goes up, you have a fuel delivery problem and you'll want to check your fuel pressure and/or you have clogged injectors. Search my channel for my fuel trim videos.

@@50sKid Hey years later but wanted to tell you thank you for helping me with the Sportage. Turned out it was upstream and downstream o2 sensors. NOW ANOTHER ISSUE HAHA about 6 months ago I had an issue where oil had made its way into the spark plug galleys on cylinder 3and4. Replaced valve cover gasket and issue went away. On Tuesday I drove about 100 miles and noticed a strong oil burning exhaust type smell. Just checked my plugs and all of them had a goldish yellow porcelain and strap. Checked compression and found 1. 175 2 167 3 160 4 155 Going to do a leak down test to see if it’s a head issue but could you think of what would cause the oil to be getting back into the plug galley and what could cause this smell. I did notice that I drove with low oil. Just the dipstick tip had oil Yikes

Could it be valve seals or valve seats?
@50sKid7 жыл бұрын
Bad valve stem seals wouldn't cause compression loss. Bad or gunked up valve seats definitely would. Broken valves as well.

Kia vehicle engines are known to only last 78,000 miles. This I'm told from a Kia represenative.
@Wangdoodle4446 жыл бұрын
Darren P, that’s a lie.

Mine is at 180 k and still working fine. It’s a 2002 Sportage.

The representative is just a disgruntled employee.

Mine has 148,000 miles and is running fine. My last Kia went almost 200k before I traded it in. The "Kia representative" is a disgruntled employee, or someone with an axe to grind.
@earlscheib77544 жыл бұрын
78,000 not 77,000 or 79,000 seems like an arbitrary fabricated number.
