It blows me away how negative people are. I bet half they guys on here that are criticizing Travis are fat out of shape guys sitting behind a computer screen. I have 2 black belts and every real fighter knows different fighters have different strengths. Travis you have great head movement and great combos. I appreciate your channel. Don't pay attention to the negative idiots on here that have never won a fight. Later.

Dude, I was watching your 1-2's in the beginning, and there was no telegraph AT ALL on that jab! That only comes from somebody who's not only thrown it a million times, but really had to concentrate keeping perfect principles the whole time. Funny how something so simple can reveal a lifetime of work.

Go to my website... I have a full program on it! I actually have a theory that keeping your hands up ALL the time wastes some energy, but I really should when I'm in the middle of combos. That said, I'm ALWAYS looking to move my head, so I get away with it.
@philsar229 жыл бұрын
he does show a stance just like marvin cooks in his other videos but this is more of an mma stance because he is throwing knees and kicks with the punches so the stance is more square when he throws the knees
@FlowerhornTroy11 жыл бұрын
I liked your head movement dodging video. That was good.. In this video, your striking needs more putting together; shoulders, elbows, and thrust in the punches need alignment.. It's also easier said then done and nobody is perfect so keep up the good work Trav

Looks good/average for MMA purposes. Judging him by the standards of kickboxing or boxing would be unfair. You see many low/mid tier MMA guys fighting in a very similar manner and they find success in the cage often.

Beaullllller. Beuuuulllllerrrr... Video was pretty cool with the calling out of combos and watching you juggle the heavy bag around.
@FightSmartTrav11 жыл бұрын
Barely... cmon now. I turn my hips until I make contact, then it's time to stop turning or I'd be wasting energy. A lot of these roundhouses are thrown after hooks, so there's not a lot of room for a huge hip turn. If you're referring to my hooks, you can't commit as much to a hook if you're following with a knee or with a roundhouse from the other side.

While i can understand and appreciate your points, that it is great that someone is out there sharing their knowledge and also that there are a huge amount of youtube experts out there that will criticize the guy's technique. However when someone puts themselves out there as an educator in any area of life, it is understandable that people hold expectations that this educator can back it up with solid displays of knowledge (and in this case solid technique).

It looks like a great workout. I practice Krav Maga and one of the classes I take is Krav Maga Bag. The trainning is intensive, however, the bag is all the time laying in the floor and stabilized with a donut. I feel I can do better if the bag bounces and you have to dodge it.

The last fight I was involved in was 22 years ago. I was 34. I was a cop on duty. People like to bs about fighting until they are involved in one, me included. You get to know who your friends really are once the smoke clears. I hit the big guy with a 0ne-two, and a roundhouse to the chest. The one/two landed on his nose. I was fading to my left when I initially delivered the punches, therefore they were not knockout blows. Then came the kick. I was spry and limber. Thin to win (I'm still only 6'3, 185) I was in uniform carrying all my gear (gun, cuffs, pepper, radio, misc pouches (no baton for us back then). But I felt light as a feather, and my punches stung like a bee. Although, I felt justified, it still cost my department 83k; that's roughly 27.5k per strike. The kick to the chest sounded bad in the depositions. He wanted more then a half mil, but got the 83. Fuck him, and although I still like fighting, fuck it. It's costly. I learned. At any rate, I'm too old, but I still train (in my sleep).

You breath hard through your mouth which makes many tier quick, You square up to much when throwin straights which leaves you open, your distance when throwin combos is a lil too close which takes power away, your chin is too high, you swing it which leads to getting caught, etc. you know what your doing, you have great content, you know your fundamentals. Overall you know what your doing, keep doing it. All I wanted to say is that you just need more polishing on things, in boxing terms.

It depends on which punch you're talking about... they're not all perfect. For the majority, yes... I make contact with my middle knuckle, and I don't injure my elbows on lockout (the main reason people "turn over" punches). I'm in PA... let's do it!

@FightSmartTrav11 жыл бұрын
I don't need to turn my hands over, I need to make contact with the right knuckles. With kicks, I turn my hips until I make contact, then it's time to stop turning or I'd be wasting energy. A lot of these roundhouses are thrown after hooks, so there's not a lot of room for a huge hip turn. If you want to make a video of us sparring, I would be down... you can prove yourself to the MMA world.
@Kanawanu11 жыл бұрын
Trav one question. When you are hitting the pads/bag shouldnt you strike like you would in sparring/ fighting to not develop bad habits,cause i ve seen that you rip your punches a lot and it seems to me that you are left open with head high, I myself usually get scolded for doing so by trainer, and when training with pads sometimes i get slapped if i leave myself open by over committing . Cheers.

Yeah, ikr, little bitches on here that have probably never been in an actual fight. My brother used to be in MMA before he went off to be a Marine, I was his practice haha. @jonas99742 жыл бұрын
I've been doing kickboxing for 5 years, and based on the knowledge that I've gathered through training and fighting I gotta say that Travis's form in some of these combos is pretty sloppy(sloppy punches, not pivoting on the grounded foot while kicking and more). Now that doesn't mean that he isn't a good fighter and that he doesn't know what he's talking about, because at the end of the day what it comes down to is performing when the lights are on you, if you win fights that's all that matters. I just found it a bit weird that he looked so sloppy in some of the combos, it kind of stood out. No hating, nobody's perfect, just saying though.
