This sketch used to frighten me as a child. Also I cant believe they built a giant teacup on a CBC budget

I suspect it's a forced-perspective shot. They would use a real tea-cup and place it close to the lens, while the talent is positioned at the back. The floor, or at least parts of it, would be a glass painting. By adjusting the planes of focus and lining up things just so, the scene is done in-camera. Generally it all fuzzes together nicely. You can kind of tell that the cup is well in front of the boys, if you look closely. It would be harder to pull this off believably now-a-days, with the sharper, higher-definition cameras available.
@zlkjhgfdsapoiuytable6 жыл бұрын
Actually, now that I re-watch it, there seems to be a bit of fuzziness on the right, where one of the actors crosses in front (forgive me, I'm drawing a blank), before it cuts off. So, I think it's a mix of that forced perspective technique, but likely some editing, as well, either things being shot separately, and using some sort of of chroma-key/green-screen behind the cup when it was shot, compositing the shots together and doing some vision-mixing, playing with transparency, maybe even manually roto-scoping some frames, stopping before it would become ridiculously difficult and not believable. ;) . Not too expensive, but someone had their hands busy that day. OK,I'm off. *woosh*

It's perfect, Alan Howard. I have such an addictive personality that I once became severely addicted to collecting antique rose cuttings over the internet. Dave, like a tea bag, is the perfect representation.

Delirium Tremens. This is what "DT" is referring to, and obviously this character is "de-teaing". Very clever reference to severe alcohol withdrawal symptoms. I've been through them a handful of times and this sketch is funny but not too far from what they're like. Hallucinations and extreme anxiety are not uncommon. Not a good time!
