This very personal film, which took us on a road trip from England to Wales, France and Switzerland in a 77-year old sports car with a special story to tell.
This film was shot as a gift to our clients and aficionados for our company's 10-year anniversary and the 20-year anniversary of Home Kidston's passing. Five years later we are happy to share it with the KZbin community. We hope you like it.

The quality and subtlety of narration, the sense of personal, cultural and automotive heritage, together with Simon's unequaled ability to make his stories interwoven with the cars so emotive - to me, this is an absolute masterpiece that I continue to revisit very often. It exemplifies that cars are not purely an objects of art, or purely objects that enable experience, but rather that they let us discover and become part of both of these in our lives, interwoven in that je-ne-sais-quoi. Wonderful.

I fully understand how you feel. I drove the Opel Super Six (Kapitän) that my father bought new in 1939 for over 55 years. My cradle stood in that car! (I was born in 1946). The car had survived five years of German occupation then. You are right: Cars do connect people. Special cars do...

@@MrTimstaaa you would need to be well off just to fill it up. I would think it would do no more than 15 mpg ..less at full throttle. some of these were upgraded to hydraulic brakes. What I've learnt over time is that there are two ways of dealing with cars. one is with a human heart, the other a mechanical one. Always go with the latter !

All I can say is that Simon understands the connection we have to the art of the car, and more so how it affects people individually. This story is a great illustration of the connections it can illicit. And I might add it’s an unbelievable advertisement for Bugatti.

They continue to be the most enjoyable to watch and I cannot help but be mesmerized each and every time. Thank you Mr. Kidston for sharing this deep love which we have for these beautiful and wondrous machines.

Just magnificent, a great tribute to your Father and Bugatti. I love the fact you opened with another of my favorite people in the motor world , Ivan Dutton , Shed Racing channel. A great story teller and passionate Motorhead. Coming Home is a great short film and once again I enjoyed it immensely, a truly beautiful Bugatti. Life is a series of circles, in the quit we hold on to the beginning of those earliest memories those childhood experiences which become the fabric of our dreams and passions, maybe someday we can reach out and grasp the past, the start of a memory a moment in our life, tie the two ends together, past & present. This is a moment of profound calm, and joy. Your story is that, you have brought the moments back together and made it whole, those who have experienced it in your story are much richer, because we have shared your happiness and completeness. Perhaps someplace, somewhere there will be another circle that is coming to a closure for someone, as we speak .

'' A very personal film'' indeed by Simon Kidston that I can perfectly relate to, since I too have a ''57'' & when I say I have a ''57'' I do have to explain it's a case of these numbers featuring in the registration plate of my late father's A Class Mercedes & which will be a more modest fifteen years old in September 2022 & six years of which I've been it's owner & for sure, every time I drive it, it never fails to '' bring me together'' with my father & I know he would have also loved to have known that he too was the owner of a ''57''
