As a SSG, just wanted to say you did a great job highlighting what is really the key to succeeding in the Army, or any organization: interpersonal relationships. Keep doing the right thing, stay motivated, and continuously grow and learn.

Thanks you SSG , for your words and support. Thats all I can do is grow.

Can you make a video breaking down the entire OCS experience. From the day you arrived to the last day from Week 1 to the last week. I leave for the board next month.

I will try and get that done.

i definitely agree with you. If it makes you feel better, I brought loaded magazine to the squadbay during infrantry training and got screamed at by the instructors and ended up making the whole platoon PT bc of me. Like you said, some people hated me after that incident, but I really didnt give a fuck cuz i wasnt gonna see them after couple weeks. I wish people had some patience to understand some situations cuz at the end of the day, everyone makes mistakes
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
Yea ... Im with you on that one. I do wish people would understand but I dont think thats going to happen anytime soon bro.

Also, great vid. I'm prior service and am looking at going back as an officer. I find your videos very helpful. In my time in, you'll learn that it is a SMALL world. Those ppl that you have these negative encounters with will at some point or another pop back up during your career. Just stay on your A game and continue to thrive being you. Like you said, they don't know you, only the miniscule mistake youve made. Everyone makes mistakes, you just aren't aware of theirs. That's all! But yes, I'm looking at coming back in and hope to see you around.

Man in the army you always gonna have those people that have their own opinion of you. Just shine on them, they hate that shit. Anyway, is there anything that you can do to prepare yourself in advance for the history test?

unfortunately no, its a mental game. Just get your head in the game when the history class comes around.

Do they still have the peer evals? I had left a bunch of sand in my foam sleeping mat during an inspection and I went thru the same thing. You're correct about your first assignment, school is nothing like the stresses of your first assignment.

I wanted to get into the OCS program. I am finishing my AIT now but some people have told me OCS is so hard...it is like Basic Training on Steroids. Is it true that it is physically demanding much more than Basic?

I have a question about the release runs, what exactly are these (what makes a 'release' run different from any other run) and what are the standards for these? Second question, if you fail a particular event or test, how many times can you recycle before you are dropped completely?
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
We dont do release runs anymore, and 2 times.

So you mention basic and I know that is only for enlisted but is that also incorporated to OCS? Also how long is OCS and what the breakdown by like phases? I'm currently Air Force ROTC but if something doesn't go as planned I have considered OCS after receiving my degree. How hard is it to be selected for OCS?
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
OCS is seletctive I'm not sure about the selection criteria right now. Yes , for The ARMY , if you aren't prior service you will have to go to BASIC and than OCS. I believe ARMY is the only branch doing that currently. OCS 12 weeks, 4 weeks basic phase and 4-7 weeks intermediate phase. The last senior phase varies you could litterally have senior phase for 1 or 2 days. Or 2 weeks it depends on your cadre.

I went thru in 1969. 26 week course then. Don't recall much to do with history back then. Tactic was the course everyone was scared of. Maybe land navigation.
@multitieredinvestor52464 жыл бұрын
Rich Frazier Not sure why, but I pretty much aced land navigation. The Ranger over seeing the patrol kept asking me where we were. At the end of the patrol he said I was spot on with each answer. When I went to the Signal Corps Advanced Course there was a male nurse who threathened his female supervisor and had to join the Signal Corps. He asked me to teach him map reading. It was easyas he had no bad habits. He did not even know what a squad was. He passed the test. There was no instruction on this as a major or a senior captain was supposed to know map reading.
