My step son is there now, we got the first letter from him last week and we have not had a phone call from him yet. But he says the worst part for him is standing in line, He says it is like being at the DMV lol always standing in line.
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
hahaha. I've heard the lines are bad at reception. Hes definitely not in lines at basic, minus the cafeteria.

I've been wanting to join the military since I got out of high school but I wanted to be more than just enlisted. I want to have the ability to change people's lives. With that being said I have a Community Health Science degree with an emphasis in Kinesiology. My main goal with my degree was to become a physical therapist and I thought of the army. It has been my dream since. I have a couple of questions for you, however: How competitive is the AMEDD branch? What extracurricular activities do you recommend? Being 2 years into college when is the best time to start my OCS application packet? Should I look into ROTC? Thanks so much! Best, Monica
@kidthndr28 жыл бұрын
Hey! AMEDD is mainly a direct commision branch. You don't go to OCS if your going to direct commision as a physical therapist. There is a medical services branch that you can only branch from a military Academy and through ROTC. It can't be branched from OCS. Well it can but no one has branched it in the last 2 years I believe and theres probably 12 classes a year with atleast 80 people... so you can do the math. For Extracurriculars while your in college definitely look into volunteer hours! I had over 300 hours of volunteer work and try to join a club or something. The best time to start a packet is when you have a year left in college. That way as soon as your graduate you can leave and get your career started. If you have any other questions. Just let me know.

There are AMEDD specific recruiters, I would reach out to one of them

I took a look at Ranger pt statistics, is it correct to say I should be able to handle 80 sit-ups, 80 push-ups, 12 pull-ups, run fewer than 13 minutes in a two mile run, and run fewer than 35 minutes in a five mile run? Really looking hard at special forces (I know the difference but I figured it'd be good to have training for Rangers down that way Special Force training wouldn't be a total hell ride.)

Correct!

I have a stupid question how did you handle the yelling?
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
Shaggy Mason After awhile you become numb to it. In the begining its like a shock. Like wtf is this..... after awhile your just like whatever. Its nothing you can do. It just gradually happens
@shaggymason84157 жыл бұрын
kidthndr2 thanks so you basically just build up an immunity to it in a since?

So even if you get accepted into OCS, you still attend basic training? and then attend OCS after basic? I thought you went straight to OCS
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
Yes , ARMY is one of the only branches that sends there officers to basic because OCS in the army is a school

How long is the basic?
@bballer1917 жыл бұрын
Malola Reyes 10-weeks for Basic typically, then another 6 weeks for AIT if you're Infantry. So 16-weeks (4 months) total.

Yea just like he said, AIT varies in length

I'm gonna be moving from Australia to south Carolina to go to fort Jackson bootcamp to train for infantry. Australia sees no action, all we do is take our own supplies and ship it somewhere else then when Australia goes to shit no one helps us. So im gonna train up, move to south Carolina, get a green slip and enlist. Iv watched almost all your videos and this is helping me heaps to figure out how to survive. I want to do this to better myself and to learn self respect. Any tips or tricks you could give me as im only 17. I'll probably leave for America at 18 (which is 4 months away).
