I had some devout Catholic family members in New Mexico who became lutherans after a single mother complained to the diocese that her son had been sexually abused. Then she was excommunicated This place in NM was where the family found out the church was sending these sex offender priests to "be cured" Anyone who complained would be excommunicated.

So ironic. I just rewatched this cold case today. So glad this case is now solved… just 60 years overdue. It could have been solved quickly but again the church was more concerned about “protecting the Church” rather than doing the right thing. Rest on Irene.

It also sounds like there was no forensic evidence and other investigative methods used. Juries did not want to believe a priest could do such a thing. I love my Catholic faith and am so saddened by this tragedy yet it doesn't define Catholicism as we don't believe in killing people from the womb to the tomb.

This sounds a lot like what was happening in places like Boston. Catholic priests were molesting children and the church hierarchy knew about it and tried to cover it up. One of the tactics was to keep moving priests around after telling them that "additional prayer" would help them control their behaviour. Cardinal Bernard Francis Law was in charge of the Archdiocese of Boston at the time and was active in the coverup. He eventually resigned and then got a promotion to the Vatican, probably to protect him from prosecution in America.

Well if the Church reported them to the Authorities for prosecution and actually excommunicated these criminals then the public wouldn’t be wondering about all priests and the others who are pedaphiles. This is a cop out! The first time the Catholic Church became corrupt it was clergymen who tried to reform the Church away from its internal corruption. It was these clergymen that accidentally created the Protestant Reformation. Apparently this Church hasn’t learned anything from its mistakes. Now it’s protecting dangerous criminals but excommunicating nuns for teaching family planning instead.

He proclaimed the Kingdom of Heaven, I'm not sure what part of this all you lovers, supporters, accomplices and excuse makers of defiled, crime plagued religions don't understand. Read your own scripture books, Christ NEVER told his Apostles to go and make "Catholics/Christians/other religious" of all nations. He said to go and make Disciples! Disciples for the Kingdom of Heaven, which I will forever thank God, that the Kingdom of Heaven is NOT of this religious world. Christ cane to set us free from all darkness masquerading as light in their own unauthorized by God places of worship. ALL religions are committing the same old sins of Jeroboam...this is why all religions are cursed by God. ...

Perhaps he became a priest not in the hope of overcoming his sadism and perversion but to express these traits with impunity, and to gain access to perfect victims. My partner was at a lecture by a psychologist. The lecturer said either ''Priests are often psychopaths'' or ''Psychopaths often become priests.'' Everyone laughed, thinking it was a joke. He protested:''No, I mean it!'' People like this can hide in any Church, but the RC Church is a particular menace of the seal of the confessional wihich prevents priests disclosing crimes even murder. The papal nuncio was expelled from Ireland because he was undermining secular law to cover up child abuse. Enda kenny said:''This country is a republic of laws, not an owned subsidiary of Rome.'' The cruel way Italian and Irish immigrants were initially treated in the USA may have been bigotry, and the connection with the Ku Klux Klan is disturbing . it does look like bigotry. RC believers have the same rights as anyone else, but the church hierarchy is another matter.

@@cht2162 The fleshly priesthood was done away with because of all the corruption, injustice, false witness, and greed, just to name a few. Unfortunately the darkness has kept its own priesthood going in this world, while the True Spiritual Priesthood (from the Kingdom of Heaven/God) is treated as a laughing stock by all who have loved their crime infested religions more than God (which is ALL religions including Christianity) 1 Corinthians 4:13 being spoken evil of, we plead; we became as filth of the world-of all things an outcast-until now.

The Catholic Church is notorious for sweeping bad priest activity under the rug. But murder? The other “culprits” in this story are the higher-ups within the police force that had the investigators back off, indicating they’d handle the investigation going forward. So I was thinking, why would they do this? It makes me suspicious that they were bought off, again by the Church, to turn the other way while the killer was moved to New Mexico. It would’ve been interesting to know who those people were and how their lifestyle changed after “taking care” of this crime. I’m hopeful that there really is some form of heaven and hell, as I’d expect there’s a special suite in the sauna for all of these people.

the answer here is simple: Canon Law....if exposure of a criminal priest results in Catholics leaving the church, then it is best to move the priest somewhere rather than expose the crime. The reason: those who might leave the church because of the crime are automatically going to hell when they die...their souls are only saved by being in the church....so, as I said, best to cover up the crime and save those souls. As I said, this is Canon Law...look it up!!!!

Dr. Grande, I thought you had plumbed the bottom in some of your earlier videos, but this analysis shows just how utterly depraved the human species can descend. You know, I'm kind of sorry I found this and watched it, but not because you haven't done a superb job of exposing this. I went to Catholic grade school in the 1950's in the North Chicago area because the Archbishop (one of Pius XII closest friends) decided that the public schools were "too Protestant," but they wouldn't change to suit him. Earlier, in the late 1930's, his dear friend, Pius XII, got Hitler to end Bismark's "Kulturkampt" in Germany and the Archbishop thought he could do it in Chicago too. To force the issue, he decreed that all RC parents MUST take their kids out of public school and send them to newly opened Catholic Schools "under pain of Mortal Sin." I have to thank that horrid Archbishop and the lessons he learned from "Hitler's Pope" for the many "blessings" I presently enjoy today. During that period, the nuns gave me abundant reasons to want to free my mind from the slavery and insanity of religion. Thank you very much, but the natural world, in its wondrous complexity and beauty is plenty enough for me, I can't possibly pretend to or force myself to believe in the supernatural, but I don't need the supernatural to find peace, acceptance and meaning in my life.
