Great review! I purchased the truck in early March. I had the exact same issue you did. My steering servo didnt die, but it was extremely weak for the size. I replaced it with a Savox SA-1230SG and its made a big difference. To fix the leaky shocks I got Tekno TKR6015 Shock caps and Tekno TKR60098 o-rings. In the shock there is a plastic ring between the o-ring. I replaced that with the tekno o-ring and replaced the shock caps and no more leaks. So for $22 bucks I fix the leak. Much better than $80+ for Losi XXL shocks. I also had the tire glue issue. I actually had a rim that are a flat spot on the outside bead. I contacted HRP about it and sent them some pictures. About 3 weeks later they sent me a pair of brand new rims and tires. I love this truck!

i bought the same servo..waiting 3 more weeks from china $11.50 om my offer...is it easy to install bro?...i metioned in your other vid about Xmaxx sucks part 3 lol maybe part 4 lmao...your correct to a point...rtr means rtr for over 1k omg its false adverstising..im happy with my cen..im new to the hobby again with huge trucks like this...hopefully i can put this servo in by myself if not im sure my LHS can help guide me...love your vids thank you so much for the education

Thank you for watching. The servo is crazy easy to put in maybe I can make a super quick how to video about it cause on the CEN you have to replace it. Yes they advertised the X-Maxx as being much better then it is and for the cost I think that's messed up.

Watched quite a few of your videos and was wondering if you could give me some advice on beginner rc’s for my boys. I had the rc10 as a kid in 1988 and it was a blast. At the time it seemed almost invincable. If something did break, it seemed so easy to fix. I know nothing about current cars and wanted to know if you could reccomend a great starter car for my 8 and 9 yr olds. I’ve seen you say that a lot of traxxis cars were overpriced and not that great. The traxxis slash 2wd brushed was recommended and wanted to know if you thought it was a good first rig? I like the idea of being able to limit the speed. $200-$250 price range max. Thanks!

Hey welcome back to the hobby. A 2WD Rc's is not very good to learn with cause the tend to just spin out all the time. I would highly recommend the new Arrma Granite 4x4 brushed version. Comes 100% RTR other then the 4 AA for the transmitter and looks like it will take a beating, I just got one for my wife to learn with so she can be a bigger part of this channel. Runs $240 + tax and I think will be a very great learning rig. Great review of the Colossus XT, and I agree with everything you said except with the shocks leaking on the Cen Colossus. I have the original Colossus and none of the four shocks leaked till this day. The Colossus XT has a big problem with leaky shocks from the get go.

Really I had the 1/8 and all 8 shocks leaked and I got 8 new shocks for it and most of them leaked in the brand new package lol maybe I'm just unlucky. Thanks for watching

You have got to get a better mic. I had to turn up my volume to hear you talk, then when you cut to the running footage, it was so damn loud I thought it was going to bow my speaker. If you're going to keep doing reviews, Audio clarity and consistently is a must.

Gary don't spend anymore $ on equipment. First I would try to zoom all the way out and place the camera as close to u but still capturing you and RC. 2nd check the audio settings on camera. Maybe there's a boom feature that' needs to be on or off....Whatever is best for indoor vlog. 3rd check in editing software if there is some volume match or sync between cuts to level out the peaks n valleys. 4th At most a simple cheap wired auxiliary mic just to get the mic closer to you if option 1 can't be done. Keep up the good work 👍

Gary I was watching this video as I might be getting a cen but on a side note is it really important that the chassis can bottom out? I have a dhk maximus and a jlb cheetah both with 55w shock oil I put in it and neither will bottom out on the chassis. Is there a way to fix that? Turning the collars on the shocks up or down?

Gary Im Looking at buying this truck. Current ride HPI Savage Flux with bent chassis plates. Can't find anyone that still sells the thicker chassis so looking at all monster truck options. I think I like this one the best with a similar platform to the HPI that I have run forever. Let me know your opinions on any other monsters out there before I pull the trigger. I hate to say it but would the x maxx shocks fit it. I have never been a traxxas fan but I got an x maxx 8s 1 year ago. I have to say that I don't care for the motor and esc. But the truck is amazing. I'm a basher, and I haven't had any problems with mine.

Likely CEN had $ budgeted for co-branding w HobbyWing Savox etc but the proper Savox servo was likely too pricey so they went w what fit budget. Likely they didn't want to lose having Savox name on box.

I read about the shock leakage issue. You mentioned it in your video but did you solve it or is it still leaking? Also I wonder if you contacted CEN about this problem and if so, what did they say? You would think they would have a fix for this by now.

No they still leak like crazy and like I said I had the same issue on the 1/8 scale CEN Colossus and couldn't get them to stop so I haven't even tried with this one lol so needless to say no I didn't talk to CEN about it but I should.

I just noticed that the new American force addition has 22mm shocks instead of the 25mm on the XL.. I wonder if that is due to the leaking issues?

You should use the Losi lst shocks. I use them on my Hpi savage xl flux and they handle extremely well with no leeks. I just suggest getting the titanium nitrate shock shafts for them.

I like hearing what you have to say but a little technical work will take your channel a long way, you can even use your smartphone as a mic and it will sound a lot crisper. I woke up my entire house trying to watch your video with the quiet dialogue and then it kept cutting to blaring music scenes. Best of luck, keep the videos coming, I have enjoyed them

Losi LST shocks. They work great and fit right on with just a small washer on the outside of the top and bottom screws

I pretty much sold my Nero and bought the cxt. I am 1000 times happier with my cxt. I am swapping in losi lst shocks and upgrading motor and esc now.

KillerOffRoadHobbyz just bought a shredder and I know they make 17mm to 23mm like to see what it looks like with the closest tires on it.. on the 1/6 shredder. Was going to do the xmaxx tires but can’t find any Hex that will fit that in the shredder

Hey Gary, First time posting and I appreciate your videos! Quick question. Thinking about ordering this truck, I have the axial ae-4 combo with the 2200 kv motor, in your opinion would that system do well on this? I know that people said the truck is a little underpowered and if this would make any difference or is the kv too high? Any input would be appreciated!

The truck has tons of power but the punch is set super low, all you need to do is turn the punch up and wow it makes it a much different truck. I think a 2200kv motor would be a little high for this rig. Hope that helps, thanks for watching

Yeah I put that bigger more powerful motor in mine and the diff's started diffing out but it's awesome stock with the punch turned up
