When it is hard to remove from form, try pouring hot water over the form. it should expand and release the hypertufa. Works great!

FYI: once the box is dirty (pizza boxes included), they are compostable, but no longer recyclable. So, using the plastic liner makes it good for keeping the cardboard clean.

Very nice collection! Woke up this morning and looked for 'the reveal' in my notifications and there it was! Y'all inspire me! Really enjoy seeing what you come up with for molds. Thanks for sharing your experiences with creating your hypertufa planters. 😊

Thanks for watching. I was anxious to get the reveal out as soon as I could. Pretty proud of those. These days, everything I see if evaluated as a mold! LOL

When you are unmolding the pots use a hair dryer to heat up the plastic mold. It works great with rigid hard plastic. I use engine oil and paint it on fairly thick
@KimsGardensandHome4 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea! Do you ever worry about the engine oil polluting the planter?
@35t10b4 жыл бұрын
@@KimsGardensandHome no. I scratch up the surfaces with a wire brush and spray off the loose mix. I've made thousands of pots and never had a problem growing anything.

@@35t10b curious.. what is engin oil made of? 🤔 Maybe it is enviroment frkendly.. Better to use vegetable cooking oil...
@35t10b4 жыл бұрын
@@helengren9349 just regular 30 weight engine oil. Even if you just take a rough towel to the outside of the pot the oil is gone. It doesn't sink into the mixture. When I soak the pots to cure and leach them I never see an oily residue

hey there, I use spray grease to coat my molds, cheap, and works great! Having fun getting dirty! also works on my squash leaves for birdbaths!

I do too. The spray "Pam" stuff, but sometimes plastic too. We had a great time. Thanks for watching.

Tanks for the video, I didn't realize the hypertufa had to cure so long.
@KimsGardensandHome5 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is better to cure for a good several weeks total. Now some people say months but I just can't...too anxious to get it planted.

Awesome shapes...thankx 4 the ideas!!! Maybe a rubber mallot might help pot come loose?
@KimsGardensandHome4 жыл бұрын
Possibly! Always try anything if I think it might get one loose.

Nice work 😍 you can always use some sort of oil, f ex coocking oil, or grease on your molds so it will be easier to take them off/out... Good luck🙏💓💕🌍

I do use mostly Pam spray and plastic too. Depends on what I have on hand. Most times I don't have a problem with getting them out. Thanks for your visit.

Pour hot water over the plastic pots it expands Doh No holes for drainage Doh

Hi Kim, they all turned out great. I made a leaf bowl from a hosta leaf, I was hoping to recreate the marble effect and it didn't work this time, it turned out nice though, I used white cement and white sand from the dollar tree....
@KimsGardensandHome5 жыл бұрын
That sounds great. The only leaf I have made was not very good. I am still trying for the marble and have one in curing now. Thinking maybe the length of curing did it. We shall know soon. Your white one sounds like it will be gorgeous.

Did you oil/put a release agent on the molds? In Asian videos they use hot water to de mold.
@KimsGardensandHome3 ай бұрын
I use oil or Pam spray most times. Simplest is just plastic and makes interesting creases in the hypertufa.
@alwaysCHItee2 жыл бұрын
Is curing necessary for hypertufa rocks as well? If so, when do you move them to the bags for curing? Thanks
@KimsGardensandHome2 жыл бұрын
Since you would not be planting inside the rocks, I wouldn't think you'd need to cure them to avoid the alkalinity in the hypertufa. But a short cure period in a bag might make them last longer.
