I love the scene where Eddie Brock and George Stacy are standing there on the street watching Gwen hang hundreds of feet off the ground, about to fall to her death. Spider-Man hasn't arrived yet. George says "is that Gwen?" and then Eddie walks up with a camera and says, "I'm kinda dating your daughter" and then George sits there staring up at his daughter without any hint of emotion about whats happening. And Eddie just sits there taking pictures while his girlfriend is about to die. That sums up the tone of the movie.

I used to enjoy this movie is a dumb fun kind of way, and I think it’s a movie that’s genuinely *trying* some smart and heartfelt stuff with its story, and the Sandman Birth scene is masterful, but on my most recent viewing the awful awful AWFUL pacing and structure ruined it for me. The movie is half over before Peter puts on the black suit for *the first time.* It does a remarkably poor job juggling its plot elements. It’s insane. Suicide Squad is still worse though.

Spiderman 3 really is not a bad movie at all. Worst in the trilogy and has some bad writing but it could be way worse. It just has a bad reputation because it wasn't what people were expecting and in recent years it's been gaining a following because people are starting to realise that. These guys make it sound horrible but they prefer the stupid goody ass MCU Spiderman movies and act like they're so much better when they're not lol. The story elements of the trilogy just go over their heads

I remember watching this movie in theaters. There is a part where Harry throws a bomb at Sandman, and he makes a confused grunt followed by complete silence before it explodes. In that brief pause, my friend chuckled and mocked the grunt loud enough for the entire packed theater to hear. Everyone laughed their ass off, and that was the only redeeming moment of what was easily the most disappointing movie experience of my life.

Just to clarify Spider-Man 3 was supposed to be focused on Sandman and Goblin and Spider-Man 4 was going to focus on Vulture with cameos in the beginning from other villains getting captured by Spider-Man such as mysterio and shocker and Rami stated that if it wasn't going to the best movie in the series he wouldn't make it and like Tim said he never could be satisfied with the screenplays that they wrote and the rest is history. It's a very interesting story of what could have been

The thing with the Raimi movies is, if you love the campiness and the goofiness, they come out on top of the Webb films. I also think Spider-Man 3 is pretty bad, but in a so bad I love it way. It also was a huge part of my childhood so it has more nostalgic values. Whereas the Webb films take themselves so seriously that they're just not fun to watch. If all else fails, at least the Raimi films can make you laugh

I think Sam Raimi purposely directed these movies with a bit of campiness and cheesiness and I totally get that. Maybe that campiness is what you guys aren’t seeing and are instead saying that these are bad movies because of it. And sure there are plot inconsistencies but I laughed my ass off a lot during this movie because of this campiness. And tbh I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 because of it. Not the best movie, but enjoyable.

This movie seems like it's trying to be Spiderman 3 and 4. The beginning makes sense and is fine for the most part; just like Spiderman 2 addressed the closing of Spiderman 1, Spiderman 3 addresses the end of 2, until Harry gets amnesia and the theme switches over to revenge. It's such a sharp left turn for seemingly no reason.

These movies did have some bad writing, but there are still things they did legitimately well, better than most modern superhero movies, even the MCU imo. Namely, spidey felt like he had such a realistic weight, whether he was swinging, or in the fight scenes, he always just felt and looked right when he moved to me. As opposed to even the MCU movies, in which the characters always feel slightly video-gamey and weightless to me. It’s always close but rarely perfect. The other thing these movies did well was make you feel like there could actually be consequences for the characters. Peter actually gets hurt and you feel like he could fail, whereas in Homecoming, for example, I never was afraid Peter would fail. He had so many gadgets, and the overall tone was lighter, which worked in its own right, but I miss the darker tone of the Raimi movies, where it seemed like bad things could actually happen.

An ideal Spider-Man movie would be a combo of Spider-Man 2 and Homecoming. Amazing Spider-Man 1 is lame. Not good. Not bad. Not fun. Not unwatchably dull. It's just kinda there.
