Hi Katie, I had a tripster (the older AL one), and in 3 or 4 years I had snapped 2 forks and finally the frame snapped at the top of downtube - right where the butting was. This bike was only used for commuting in London, and I’m 70 ish KGs - so hardly heavy use. To top it, Kinesis were singularly uninterested and offered something like a 10 or 20% discount on a replacement frame. Hmm. Love the design, tho my next gravel will be a ti:)

NIce review, nice setting and really good audio. Overall a very enjoyable video. The dog belting across the screen at warp speed in the beginning was just a bonus.

Got the bike set up. To stop the cable rattle I tucked a cable tie in and taped it to the cable and snipped.. job done.

I fully get your concern about the thru axle bolt, I have a Ti Tripster with one of their bolts at the front, it's not good compared to the shimano one I have on the back, I do find it coming lose far too often, DT Swiss do some good ones that'll I probably buy soon. It is a lovely bike, especially in the green.

Nice review. I agree - It is a nice green. I have a Tripster ATR V2 and I also had the issue of the rattly gear cable on the right side. I tapped it down and that solved it, but yea, it seems that it's an issue.

Seven months later I've come back to re-watch this vid. Great as usual. Seven months later and Kinesis have release a new bike the Kinesis RTD (Race The Distance) just wondering if you've seen this bike in the flesh?

K, I've been following Kinesis for a while, but haven't seen this particular model. I like it a lot, especially the possibility of 9kg model for a do-everything bike. Awesome. Thanks.

Not sure about the flared drops either since i'm about to get my first ever pure gravel bike but i'm looking forward to trying those flared drops out. There is the Superghiaia handlebar by 3T that has a normal hood position for your shifters while retaining the lower flare; the only down side for me is the price and for some that it's carbon.
@KatieKookaburra5 жыл бұрын
I think they just take getting used to
@CanIHasThisName5 жыл бұрын
As someone who strongly prefers flared drops, I can tell you that the flared hoods are one of the biggest advantages. It effectively shortens the distance you need to move your finger in order to shift through multiple gears. It doesn't really change your hand position. The main advantage is off road - some flared drops can give you over 550mm of width, which used to be pretty standard for XC not that long ago. Also, but this may be just my limited experience, all flared drops I've tried were much more springy (= comfortable over bumps) than regular drops.

Hi katie I agree with you about the tiny faults , I’m thinking of changing the bars I find bend to tight for my hands when on the drops. May change the groupset to campag when I can afford to but otherwise I think its a cracking bike.

I’ve got a Kinesis CX bike that is a brilliant all rounder. Cheap aluminium frame and built up with bits lying around in the garage. A nice review but Im not sure £1600 represents great value for an aluminium Kinesis given what the big brands are putting out.
@CanIHasThisName5 жыл бұрын
Actually, Tripster AT is quite on the expensive side, as far as alloy frames go. You can find some full carbon framesets for this price.

Hi Katie, I know these are v diffferent bikes, but how did the Tripster AT compare to the Sepcialized Diverge? (they are both on my short list) They would be used for commuting most days and weekend gravel/off road - no too full on as I have a full suss for that!! thanks Claire

How did you ride it as it doesn't have any pedals? Can it take mudguards? If not, it's not a winter bike or indeed summer bike for regular riding as you will frequently be covered in crap and wetness.

@KatieKookaburra5 жыл бұрын
I’m actually around 175cm but have long legs and short body which mean the reach can be a bit off. Take the measurements and compare with a bike you already have. Main things to look at are reach, and stack height.

Nice! To be honest I could see me replacing my touring bike (a 2008 Dawes Horizon), and my road bike (a 2014 Pinnacle Dolomite 2), with something like this, although more towards the £800 price bracket. One of these with wide road tyres would be ideal for audaxing on, especially on badly pot holed roads, and my MTB should cover all my cycling interests, in a mere two bikes :-)

Come on. You’ve been riding next to no time and giving bike reviews. Most of us mere mortals that don’t ride at racing speeds haven’t got a clue and are over biked. My other half, who rides, joined me mid comment and asked why I’m making a comment. You were just on your negatives, I said ‘watch her mention she doesn’t like the colour’ what did you say first? You don’t like the colour! Stick to riding and your new racing chapter.
@kaveac5 жыл бұрын
78JGK Really? So...how many years of riding are required before one is allowed to give their impression of a bike? She was given a new bike to ride, so it seems pretty logical that she would also pass along her thoughts and impressions. It would have been rather odd if she had nothing to say about it. You seemed to include yourself among the clueless, so I suppose it is not surprising that you were hearing things that were not said. She very clearly said she loved the colour of the bike, and that it was her favourite colour of the brand. I think I will dismiss the “wisdom” of your comments.
@glennoc85855 жыл бұрын
She likes the colour what are you on about?
@78JGK5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ll put my orthopaedic shoes on and admit I miss heard that one, however how a bike rides shouldn’t reflect on what colour it is good or bad. Also if someone rides around on an old clonker and is given a new bike to review then of course it’s going to be shit hot. Leave it to the paid professionals.
@glennoc85855 жыл бұрын
@@78JGK why do you even watch her reviews then?go watch a pro review and let it be.
