@kingbugs35588 жыл бұрын
I realize that many people are turned off by King Diamond's high falsetto/counter-tenor voice. The unique aspect, to me, about King Diamond is the lyrics and overall direction and story telling of their/his albums. Few bands make "concept" albums. Their albums actually tell a story, and that intrigues me. I hear so much inflection and emotion in his voice. A willingness to raise issues like child abuse in his albums, and the flirting with the occult, it speaks of a deeper message behind the music. And the band.... Andy and Mikkey (KD after Mikkey is also great)..... incredible......Their albums are some of my favorite to listen to in one sitting. Real works of art.
@devolve428 жыл бұрын
King Diamond is a truly unique artist. The composition and musicianship especially on Abigail and Them! are criminally under-appreciated. Not just the story lines, but the way the music progresses from the start of the album to the end is genuinely masterful. But it's not everyone's cup of tea (right, grandma?)

King Diamond gives us music to run away with. I love the highs and the lows. The music goes right along with the strange story of Grandma coming home. This song would be perfect for a dark night, fireplace and plenty of shadows in the recesses of the room. Fright night!!

The drums on this song sounds so damn difficult.

To all you out there calling King Diamond "gay" and questioning the seriousness of this band, you need to learn a little about the history of metal in the '80s. This shit here, is masterful. The album is a concept album with a fantastic, eerie, story. One video, taken out of context is understandably confusing, but do some research before spewing shit all over youtube. This is one seriously talented band. If you like REAL metal, check out the album "Them". This particular track was the first release off that album. Long live 1988!

then why does he have a clamp on his nuts half the album? Celine dion cant go that high...and she wouldnt because it sounds stupid
@VayleGW9 жыл бұрын
howycwap apparently you don't know much about metal vocals... some of the best vocalists in metal at the moment (PelleK (Damnation Angels), Fabio Leone (Rhapsody of Fire, Angra), Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) can sing pretty damn high. metal has never been about low vocals and death grunts, rather, it has always been about talented singers like Ronnie James Dio and Rob Halford.

Vayle Never said highs were bad, but when theyre borderline cat noises, they are stupid. I love a good vocalist with a range thats actually interesting and not seemingly for a shock factor. Wow he can go so high!...okay...old news

Rather than blast those for calling the band gay, you took the route of informing them on the goodness of the band. Very cool, bro.

When i first heard this shit back in the day I was reluctantly impressed by the drummer. Kim Peterson's vocals were obviously so doctored, I wasn't won over. Halford was always the real deal followed by Dio and Dickinson. Mickkey Dee was clearly the stand out musician in King Diamond
