The films each tell a different story so they're in different timelines. Although some of the films do have sequels and are thus connected. King Kong Escapes is just a standalone kaiju film.

After seeing the movie, I'm not surprised that the first Time Lady the Doctor and Leela met in "The Invasion of Time" was named Rodan. One scriptwriter must have known about the appearance of "Doctor Who" in that movie and decided to do a joke of his own.

I saw this flick a few times when I was just a kid - a local tv station where I grew up played it occasionally. That scene where the villain vomits blood during his death scene actually shocked us, and must've been pretty strong in the 1960's!

Actually, King Kong vs Godzilla’s version and King Kong escapes’s version of Kong are different, therefore he really is just a legend in KKE

And to make things even more insane, apparently, according to Wikizilla, King Kong Escapes is connected to the Kiryu Saga... Unless Kiryu was built using the same metal Mechani-Kong was built with, or even his remains, I have several questions as to why they're connected

The movie was attempting to ape (pun intended) the Rankin-Bass/Toei Animation King Kong cartoon that was popular at the time. Hence it's not canon with the Toho movies. If this was the same Kong from KK vs G, that would mean he shrank 150 feet or so because he's about 50 tall in this film. Gorosaurus' role in DAM has more to do with the fact the suit was in good enough shape to still be used. Considering how ahead of it's time the Toho Tokusatsu films are in terms of connected continuities, I think we can forgive some of the loose canons here and there.

Conner Campbell Nope his not about 15 m (50 ft) his 18 m (60 ft) tall so Gorosaurus. But Toho bring back Gorgosaurus changed his colour and made him twice the size he was before and made him one of the allies of Showa Godzilla.

Actually, Alex, the suit used in this film is a new suit created just for this film. It isn't the suit from King Kong vs. Godzilla. It's hard to believe, but this is what they came up with for a new design. Somebody should have been fired for that.

0:58 No. The movie was supposed to be co-produced with Rankin Bass. They didn't like the script so it was scrapped. The reason they didn't like the script is because it wasn't close enough to their cartoon series. This is why they wrote the script for King Kong Escapes themselves which Takeshi Tamura then translated into Japanese. Rather then throw away the King Kong vs Ebirah script, Toho simply replaced King Kong with Godzilla to salvage the project.

This is not the same Kong that fought Godzilla. It is a joint effort of Toho and Rankin/Bass based on a cartoon series called The King Kong Show And it's DR Hu not Dr Who. Plus Linda Miller is not to be blamed for the bad acting. Her voice was overdubbed by a voice actress.

AlexTheHunted, I think the reason why this movie doesn't take place in the same continuity as _King Kong vs. Godzilla_ is that this is a Rankin/Bass co-production. Rankin/Bass is the company that is famous for stop-motion movies such as _Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer_ and _The Puppetoon Movie_ . (It also made such animated classics as _The Last Unicorn_ and _The Fight of Dragons_ .) Around this same time, Rankin/Bass made a King Kong cartoon where the villain is . . . Dr. Who (again, not the same as The Doctor who has the TARDIS). This movie isn't exactly in the same continuity/"universe" as that cartoon either, but this movie is supposed to be more closely related to that cartoon than to any other King Kong continuity. Are you sure that is the same costume from _King Kong vs. Godzilla_ ? The face looks different; the eyes look larger. It's funny that you mention that this Dr. Who acts like a James Bond villain, because this movie has a James Bond connection. Dr. Who's sidekick, Madam Piranha, is played by Mie Hama, who was James Bond's final girlfriend in _You Only Live Twice_ . Akiko Wakabayashi, who was Princess Salno/the Martin/Venusian Princess in _Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster_ , was his second girlfriend in that movie.
