Hey Adam! I've been watching your videos for quite a while (I have also commented this or similar on multiple videos recently), watching your videos is what I got me interested in using my EUC as more than just commuting, on top of getting brave and doing jumps. I've been riding EUCs for almost two years and began with an RS19HT, However, I quickly outgrew its speed and range. Living in the greater Seattle area, my EUC is my primary mode of transportation for work. The RS was just too uncomfortable to be used to regularly complete my trip to work which is 27.7 (45km) miles one way , so I upgraded to an S22 and even added a fast charger. I've learned a lot from these experiences and have transitioned from scooters to EUCs, all thanks to your videos. What started as a brief comment has turned into a mini-essay, but I can't stop now. Along this journey, I began designing my own 3D-printed parts for my RS, mainly power pads. Currently, I'm riding an SS, and the jump in quality from the RS19 to the S22 was impressive, but the leap to the SS was mind-blowing. The main reason for this comment is to ask if you'd be interested in testing out some power pads I designed, which I currently pick over the Patton pads provided by Ewheels for my SS (I use them together for my commute setup, which is shown on my Cults3d page ill include below. I also have another project in the works that I believe would greatly benefit your role as a wheel reviewer and tester. I would need to discuss the project with you privately to share the details. The pads that I would love for you to try were designed specifically for the S22, and its small mounting space, Now I use them on my veteran sherman-s and I love them on it as well for jumping. the inspiration for the design (which is in its first iteration also) came from the hand guards I always used to install on my Dirtbikes when I was still riding. I'll include the link to my page so that anyone who has read through this "novel" can check out the designs for themselves, I feel it's time for me to actively contribute to the EUC community rather than just lurking, as I've done for years. cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/toe-shield-jump-torque-pads (my everyday commuting setup) cults3d.com/en/3d-model/gadget/whitpads-power-padsv1 (my first ever designed powerpads) If you're open to trying them out, I'd be more than happy to 3D print a set for you and have them shipped to you. Thanks for your time and dedication to the EUC community,

Awesome info, always love watching your videos and I don't even own an EUC yet. I'd really like to see an in depth comparison of the Patton and S22 Pro. I'm torn between the two, they both seem to have their pros and cons, but I can't decide who the clear winner is. I just want a solid suspension wheel that can do a little bit of everything and excel in offroad conditions. Not too concerned with hitting 50mph or going any further than 50 miles. I don't really want to spend an extra $1k to get the wheel to where it needs to be though.

Hang in there man. If you desire to off road trails and such it is going to take time on a wheel first, get comfortable and start out slow. In a few months inmotion will be revealing there off road competitor with a spring suspension, as part of there new lineup plans. As a s22 owner I would tell ya to wait. Depends on your use case. Wide variety of street choices. The s22 requires a huge 3rd party investment and very much maintenance. The Patton would be a ton of fun off road, but wouldn't want to ride on the streets. I think the Patton would make a good first wheel though.

Love then Hate then Love then Hate and now Love. 😂 This community and the manufacturers are in their infancy when it comes to what we want and what we need, what is the use case of a wheel, is it to heavy or to light, is it balanced and does it make a difference to all riders, and so on and so on. I just cannot wait to see what we will be riding in 5 years. It is going to be great.

It is indeed an exciting time for this industry. To think a little over a year and we had nothing but 84v and 100v wheels. Now 126 is a popular target choice, with 134 volt options as well. There are a variety of suspension systems out there not sure what the best option is, don't think anyone knows just yet. I do lean towards a spring suspension system. Only time well tell.

Keep practicing. I think you are getting the hang of it. I am 72 yo and a beginner. My first wheel is a 22 Pro. Do my wobbles count as carves? I am up and running. And enjoying exploring the backroads of Tasmania. I bought the wheel as a spare. My car has broken down several times way, way south. I had to walk 17 Kms to get a few necessities. And 27 kms to get a bus out. So the wheel is not just fun, but a necessity. Where did you get the charger adaptor? I could use one.

@@dirt.surferthis is tl;dr for all but the curious, feel free to bail out early while reading. Typed on phone so I’ll have to spellcheck later.} Thank goodness for riders who step up and provide good value for aftermarket parts. I often think that a much better business strategy for EUC companies would be to sell/lease EUCs without any pedals, side pads or fairings simply to allow for a robust aftermarket that essentially does the advertising for free and unburdens the design budget from superfluous trim that most people will eventually change out of frustration. Why the heck would any CEO want to poison the growth potential of the entire sector? How much wasted time, effort and ineffectual marketing was spent on the S20 pads? Sure it looked good but why would consumers want to pay extra for pedals and pads that are just going to be stored until the rider (eventually)sells their wheel and gives the unused pads to the next owner to put in their closet. Are you satisfied with the pedals on your S22pro? I may still ride on my original 16x pedals but I’d rather not get a wheel when I knew that I would be upgrading my pedals and then get upset again whenever I buy my next wheel and cannot transfer over my favorite pedals. It’s very strange market behavior but I do understand that this industry grew out of some very unusual circumstances that’s more fascinating than I would have expected. I fully expect that the struggles that EUC design/builders have in bring these awesome machines to fruition… despite the teething pains, I still think every moment is worth the effort. But the reality is for most potential riders is that they cannot risk buying a wheel that is likely to become unsupported very quickly. The Isle of Misfit Monowheels is a tragic corporate legacy to follow because the unwillingness or inability to accept the losses from apoor design decision and stop reproducing that fundamental design flaw in the S19 iteration is just a punch in the gut. {Did you feel it too?} Sorry for the tangent. Maybe I can clarify my concerns about buying an EUC by asking my own most important question: If you were trapped in Australia and a kinetic war in the South Pacific/ ASEAN region caused sanctions to completely disrupt the existing supply chain completely, then how many copies of which EUC would you need to ride the next 25 years, and how many of each specific parts would you want as repair/replacement parts over this time period? {Hypothetically… asking for a friend.} So far I’ve got 2 replacement tires, a spare motor, a spare motherboard and plan to periodically rebuild the batteries as cells deviate in internal resistance. {So I’ll need a spot welding tool as those skills too.} I think this type of question highlights the flaws and serviceability of any given wheel model and its versions. {If I thought my knees were going to last 25 years, I’d get 5 copies of the OG Sherman with 4 tires and 1 extra rim for each as spares. Lastly, how many Hou Ningning roller sliders versus factory stock rollers? {Just curious, not for a friend this time} And, would you choose a different wheel if you lived somewhere else on the planet? {Side-note: these hypothetical questions do not account for increased risks of becoming collateral damage… so, if wepresume to survive, How many EUCs will MadMax need when petrol is no longer available yet the grid still operates about 1 hour a day? {Or, am I asking too much from one EUC design? … feel free to ignore the rhetorical questions. and I’m glad you like your S22pro enough to stick with it… I’m still thinking about buying a used one (or 4) in a couple of years when the dust settles.}

You so close to losing your shit in the sand lol, sand is the enemy. Nice video Adam. Karen my s22 has a shinko 244 2.75 -14, grizzla ferrings/upper ferrings, grizzla rear gaurd and front bumper, kinetic 2.0 pads with custom color scheme, Hou Ningning cnc sliders 8 wheel. I believe I lose some range with the shinko but it is extremely aggressive offroad and yet still very carvy. I do trail riding in the mountains and it's beast. Just waiting for the board to fail me. A third party has opportunity to address the poor suspension linkage and get a better system for unfortunate s22 owners. I too sheered those chrome plated tinfoil barrel bolts. They are splitting on people because till recently this geometry didn't move at all till the cnc rollers. Now that it moves half the bolt moves on a bearing other half binds, terrible design, and it does the in out spread as you described. I also noticed the threads don't fill the barrel bolt from the sex nut and this also is a flaw. You can drill a hole through that nut and bolt and use a pin to stop it from moving instead of locktight.

You mentioned that you’re unsure about the longevity of your motherboard. Have patterns of failure been seen that cannot be addressed with software updates? {I’m currently replacing capacitors on my trucks ECU, so I’m open to doing my own board repairs if it’s just replacement of a few MOSFETs as needed… although, not as many as the V12HSv1 seems to have needed, although I’m still unclear what percentage of boards actually prematurely failed. {but that’s another thing altogether}
@dirt.surfer
@dirt.surfer Жыл бұрын
@grb1969 I have seen in 3 videos the s22 fall over and burn the board, it's a small community joke. What happens is the wheels spins to a high speed and if it hit something it blows the motherboard. Motherboard was slightly upgraded on the pro version but imo it needs more overhead, a disappointing flaw that diminishes my confidence in riding. Between that and the poor suspension geometry my off road days may be over for the s22.

@@dirt.surfer Sorry to hear that the upgrades were not more substantive. I had outlined a slider design way back when the problem was unsolved and there are a couple of design changes that could marginally improve the sliders even more but then again, my ideas were slightly more complicated than what evolved but still only a stop-gap temporary repair until major design changes could be made. Unfortunately, Kingsong seems to have just copied the idea (which is good) but then mistakenly didn’t completely change the design for a least 2 new models since that time. I can understand wanting to clear out the inventory of mistakes but continuing the design may have been a forced economic decision as it wasn’t the proper thing to do from an engineering perspective. And this contributes to the horse-race mentality that is harming riders as Darwin sorts out the awards. Sealed and isolated sliders are preferred but the space we had to work with is a severe limiting factor if the Aluminum casing isn’t to be changed. I may still get an S22 or two on the used marketplace but not until it’s at least as stable a platform as the 16x. Good news is that the linkages design looks to be extended to most future designs from other makers, who will combine that with MTB hydraulic style cartridges. And if the hydraulic leaks and maintenance issues get solved, then we should see some awesome wheels coming up in the next few years. I’m heartened to hear that Inmotion acknowledge that transferring the V11 pogo struts to the V13 is a mistake which they will promptly fix on future wheels (hopefully before the Adventurer gets released in the fall.) My frugality has me waiting for more robust designs but I’m appreciative that the community (and you) are demanding more. Some of my demands are still 5-10 years from being developed but i fully expect that an EUC could theoretically outperform and car or motorcycle given the time and resources. Many of the electronics problems that everyone is having can be improved with better mechanical system design but my ultimate wheel would cost around $6-8k compared with current pricing but they’ll need to outsource some of the engineering. I’ll give the design details another time, as the improvement claims I proclaim are often too far out for current riders to imagine. Thanks for all of your valuable comments in the past few posts, your frustration is palpable, concerns at 100% valid and insights are appreciated. Again, sorry for the long posts. I’m trying to chill but EUCs have much better utility and fun factor than flying cars or airplanes {another hobby of mine that is less appears now than 20 years ago). We just don’t want this sport to become like boating where the 2nd happiest day in that person’s life is the day they buy their boat, and their happiest day is when they sell it! 😬
