🤣It was shockingly quick (and would have been quicker with those bigger tires if I could have kept it on the road! I may see if I can get it up to 60 mph with a few tweaks. Yeah man, you are the one that introduced me to that GPS and it had been great! Yours deserves and honorable retirement! 🙂Oh, how fast was your little truck again? It was up there if I remember correctly!

I am thinking high 50s with better shoes! I went from 34 to 41 with better tires (my foam speed run tires) on the stock motor... so I am thinking at least 59 and maybe 60! I just have to figure out how to keep it on the road.

I have some Gone Banana's 101mm tall foam tires I run on my Traxxas bandit (almost 100 mph on 3s) but the HBX is really tipsy on them. I ran it with the stock motor and went from 34 mph to 41 mph. I figure I could get round 60 mph with the new motor if I can keep it on the road. I think I will try lowering the car (at least the front) and add some weight up front and see if that lets me get a clean run in it. I have the punch turned all the way down but it would just backflip at like 40mph with the cheap non belted tires (though I did run those tires up to high 70s on my bandit and while the ballooned a lot, they did okay

Yeah I've got my Kraton to do 60mph off-road on the stock tires I even did 60 on road with the Hbx18859a on stock tires 60 seems to be the limit from my experience on stock rubber tires

2838 6200kv is weaker, not stronger. It spins a little faster but has substantially less torque than a 2845 5900 and will run hotter (and my motor already runs too hot on 3s).

@@BriansRCStuff Kinda. The chassis seems flimsy. I thought I had an issue w/ my suspension or an issue w/ the diff distributing power to both wheels equally. Turns out the chassis was twisted so it pulls one direction when you open the throttle too quick. Definitely don’t like that. Also don’t like that the motor wires fell out from regular use. At one point, they were frayed so bad at the motor that they were sparking. Soldered new ones on w/ 10 gauge wire. Then, the same thing happened to the little aux wires and it shorted out. Just looking for speeds slightly better than stock, reliable and something that doesn’t run too hot

@@BriansRCStuff Literally lol. I noticed, however, that the brushless Dynamite system that comes stock is discontinued from Horizon’s website. I ended up throwing in a HobbyPark 7200KV motor and 25A ESC from Amazon. It actually rips haha. But yea, I’ve been debating on what I wanna throw in it haha. Definitely looking seriously at the Mamba Micro. Debating between one of TPs 29mm motors or the 8k KV motor from castle

Hey Brain, killer video! That thing is a rocket! I have the same ESC as the one you're running on your HBX. Just wondering how the 60am esc holds up given that King Val motor max amps are 88? Perhaps since the truck is so light and bringing the punch to the lowest setting, that max amp draw isn't a huge threat? Secondly, did you end up getting a fan for that motor ? Hopefully my question makes sense.
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 8 ай бұрын
Your questions make complete sense, and that was my thinking as well. So far I have had no issues with that ESC being able to handle the amp draw of the motor. The problem is with the motor getting hot but now I have not got around to getting a fan for it. But yes, honestly, even with the punch turn all the way down, it still has more acceleration than anyone could ever need! 🙂 Thank you! I have been modifying my 2997a which hit 61 mph the other day in the stock tires! I would love to hear how you make out!

Hey thanks for the quick reply Brian! That is a very impressive speed on your 2997a! I've been modifying a different 16th scale truggy, the SG116 MAX from aliexpress the last while now. That's what I have the HW60amp esc in. With 3s and the stock motor it does a little over 50mph and doesn't get too too hot but I'm in Canada and the air temps are very cold right now. I've upgraded the shocks as the stock shocks needed replacing. The stock motor in mine is a bit bigger (2487 4000kv) than the stock motor in your 16890A, hence my questions about the esc with the king val 5900. Likely my next move will the King Val or something similar to see if I can keep speeds up with a little cooler motor temps but not sure that's possible lol @@BriansRCStuff

@@petervenner2450 those are some impressive speeds! Mine does better on cooler days and I have never run it on a cold day. But if it’s a hot summer day… I can only do a few passes before the motor starts to get hot. I am getting ready to run my 2997A on 4S running the two stock batteries in series! Honestly, I don’t think it’ll be much faster than my high performance 3S as the stock batteries will have bad voltage sag but it’ll be fun to experiment!

Hard surfaces are just brutal for these whips. I don't really care about speed runs.. To me, balance, and racing on dirt is the priority of basher cars. Like the video.. I set mine up with heavy springs for a 1/10th and plop 5000 MAH batteries on the top. These Haiboxing rigs take the weight pretty well and in some circumstances they weigh pretty close to a MJX for whatever reason even with the 5000MAH 3s battery..... I'm running an original 16889 brushless on a 3S about 3/4 power max on controller and they refuse to die.. Even on stock nylon gears. upgraded axles only. The one thing that sucks are the tires... Tires are so easy to destroy ( which is true with about any tie )
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff Жыл бұрын
I agree balance is better. I was doing this setup just to see how fast I could get it and I had an opportunity to work with a new motor company! I ran a 5,000 mAh LIPO in mine and it ran okay but that ruins the balance too making it too tipsy for bashing. My high end 3s LIPOs work great! Do you have a link to the springs you used? The rear ones are way too soft…. With the spacers I have in there they are just about enough but heavier springs would be nice. What axles are you running? I have had issues with my rear kit drives wearing badly where they mate with the dogbones by the diff. Is yours holding up okay? Thanks for checking out the video!
@FrequencyOfThought
@FrequencyOfThought Жыл бұрын
@@BriansRCStuff You're welcome. I just got into this over the summer. I think the rear gear is a wearable item unfortunately its going to take the brunt of the acceleration just pack it with synthetic grease super lube. I use Haiboxing's Spare Part Number: M16105 & M16106 & M16107 axles and they are lighter and the drivetrain and you don't even need metal diffs. I say it's the best of both worlds. Plastic diffs and the upgraded light weight axles.. They released all these full metal cars lately but they didn't take into the account the extra weight and I mean weight turning the wheels and now you got several grams and wheels and tires flopping on a plastic swing arm etc unbalanced, great for crashing durability, horrible for accurate driving and sliding....

How did you deal with fitting the spur gear on? Did you have to shave down the king val motors shaft?

Were you talking about fitting the pinion on? The pinion shaft was the same diameter as the stock motor (3.17 mm) but the indent for the grub screw was a little smaller.
