very nice mate! I had a lot of problem with the pinion, was stuck in the stock motor and I spend like 2h to swap into the new 2845, with a bit of thread locker I was able to use it (so far I ordered one that is still on the way). Dunno why I bought the 30A and not the 60A, I think it is indeed better with I was still not able to try it on full throttle yet ! :D And I'm still stuck to find the right tires, I love the 903 but I'm looking for another option (I have a few sets but no one I really like)

You having a hard time controlling it? Mine for sure is a handful! What KV motor did you go with? How did you end up getting your pinion off? I guess the 30a might be okay because it is such a light can and you can’t stay in the throttle for long! What brand ESC did you go with?

Will my motor connecters 3.5mm 2845 4400kv surpass hobby motor also fit a 60a esc or should i change them ? Yours sincereley Aaron from speedslides and speedrides
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff Ай бұрын
Hi Aaron! Most ESC's come with 4mm bullets so you will probably need to change them. if you are going to change them, you may want to go a little bigger than 4mm (unless they are incorporated into the ESC itself. I use 6.5 which is kind of too big for a 60A unit but I use the bigger stuff as my 100+ mph Bandit draws a lot of amps and it is nice having less resistance with the bigger bullets (though at lower amp loads it doesn't make much difference. Just check the ESC and see if it lists the size bullets it comes with.

How did you put the 4.0 mm connecter from the motor into the 3.5mm esc?
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 6 ай бұрын
If you watch the video, you will see I used a Hobbywing ESC as that motor would have likely not worked well with the stock ESC and even if it did work, it would have likely cooked it! I had to solder on 4mm bullets.

Hey Brian, this video is awesome!! Quick question, any chance you know where to source the little red/orange gaskets that go between the motor and motor mount? I'm switching motors in my 16889a pro but I plan to replace everything rather than remove the mount and pinion so I have the stock setup intact plus the upgrade setup. Only thing I can't seem to find is that little gasket. Any help would be awesome, thank!
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 2 ай бұрын
I haven't looked for the gasket for the 16th scale trucks.... but the 1/12th scale trucks (part P101) were a pain to find! Redcat actually sold the same part and I got them but now they are out of stock and you can only seem to source them from Australia! They are really important as I found out in another when doing a conversion on my 2997A as I didn't have one and I tried mocking it up without one and the motor moves around way too much. Let me take a look and see what I can find if anything.
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 2 ай бұрын
Well, it seems like they are out of stock everywhere in the US and I think the P101 would be too big as it is for 540/36mm sized motors. I did not see a part number in my HBX 16890A manual for the 380/28mm sized motors. I found this part number but I cannot confirm it is the right one. HBX-5108 motor pad You can order the P101 in Australia and UK but they murder you on shipping (like $12). I am going to reach out to my HBX contacts and see what the deal is (if I can get a response). You are not the first person to ask me.

@@BriansRCStuff Hey thanks so much Brian for the quick reply. It seems that the motor pad is in fact a detrimental component to have in place. Most parts are super easy to source yet these motor pads seem to be quite tricky. Let me know if you have any luck. Thanks so much for your efforts and keep the great content coming!

Will a Goolrc 60A ESC also do 50 MPH with this motor?
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 7 ай бұрын
It depends on if the manufacturer is lying about it’s amp rating. On paper, it should be fine. I run a surpass hobby 60 amp ESC with a motor that has a rated draw of around 66 amps with no problems but your results may vary. :-) Also, you’ll need a decent performing battery for those kind of speeds. I would love to hear how you make out. I definitely think it’s worth a shot as it should be fine theory.
@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 7 ай бұрын
On 3S, the motor will probably overheat before the ESC. Does it look like there’s room for your ESC? Also, I would definitely turn the punch down to its lowest setting on that ESC. Even when it turned all the way down, it will have crazy acceleration. That will also make it draw less amps and not be as hard on the ESC. Reality you can only stay full throttle for a few seconds at a time.
@dimamariankov1929

Of course, there is enough room for Goolrc 60A ESC, I have HBX 903, but yes the motor is heating a bit, becouse of motor cooling.@@BriansRCStuff

@@dimamariankov1929 did you try mounting it on top of the servo? That stinks.🙁 I never got around to trying the surpass hobby cooling fan and heat sink combo but that may help…. Some. In 3s that motor just spins so fast it probably isn’t going to be happy running more than a few min.

@@InhumanArcher it looks similar to my 16890a. Can you remove the gearbox/motor mount cover and verify it is the same. If it has the same motor mount, it will say on it (the side facing out) how many teeth the pinion has…. Or you can of course manually count the teeth. Alternatively it may say in the manual. If it’s the same has my 16889a it is a 0.6 mod gear. I have a video that show the process on my HBS 16890a.

@BriansRCStuff
@BriansRCStuff 6 ай бұрын
What makes you say it is stronger when clearly that is true? It is actually weaker as it makes less torque and draws less amps. It may run about the same speed but it will likely run hotter which is already a problem with the combination I am running. It would be a fun set up to try but be careful monitoring the motor temps at 3s.
