The thing I love about Roxas; is that he is more like a real person. Sora is too much the goody-goody hero, with no grounded feelings beyond blind hope. Which is fine, but overly traditional to the point that it can be sickening sometimes. I remember being uncertain when I first learned that we were going to be playing this new character instead of Sora in KHII. We didn't know much about him beyond his name and that he was "connected" to Sora in some way. The secret ending in Chain Of Memories implied he'd play some vital part. That, and Twilight Town. An area unfamiliar to Sora in the same game. The trailers at the time, showcasing Roxas fighting some large enemy with the Kingdom Key? The Keyblade belonging to Sora? Needless to say, it was intriguing. It's always a huge risk to start off a sequel with a new character like that. It could have gone poorly or incredible. I was sad when I finished playing his story. I actually didn't want to play as Sora. I wanted to continue my journey as Roxas. I wanted to know more about him. I didn't want to see him fade away into nothing but a memory. Yet, that was a fact I had to accept. My only hope was that somehow later on, we'd get to see him again (and we do but...you know the rest for now.)

There's a really good fanfic in which Roxas refuses to merge with Sora in order to travel to worlds far from "Kingdom Hearts" domain in order to find a way to restore Xion. It's called "The Twilight Will". I think you should read it. It feels like a natural expansion of the universe we've grown used to. That, and I was very proud to see him fight for a destiny of his own design. Sora is my favorite character, but neither Riku nor Diz were even concerned in finding some alternative to forcing him. I refuse to abide by this injustice.

Here's a fact of Roxas: His existence is mainly from Ventus. Yeah yeah yeah he looks like ventus but when Roxas appeared in Twilight Town he looked like a teenager. While sore was still a kid ... Ventus on the other hand was a young adult (probably age 16/17). So from that it make Roxas look older than a kid that sora was at the time. And not the mention Square Enix changed Roxas' old voice in KH2 and replaced it with his voice in BBS when making the remake of KH2. Hence, showing that Roxas existence is mainly from Ventus.

1:57 I have different theory about that. I think he meant that Roxas looks like Ventus instead of Sora. Before Birth by Sleep, it would have been an obvious explanation to say that Roxas looks like Sora because there was nobody else. But after BSB we see that Roxas is pretty much the spitting image of Ventus. When Xemnas tells Sora that he's special too, he's referring back to the fact that Ventus is sharing Sora's heart.

this is a nice recap video :) some tips though, in some parts you were speaking pretty fast (probably to keep down the length of the video) but some of the topics would have probably been a little hard to follow for someone who doesn't know the story very well. but overall a nice summary of roxas' story :)

roxas was not unique in the sense that he had emotions. ALL nobodies in the organizations had emotions, as they actually did have their own hearts, as xemnas explained in DDD. roxas never had ven's heart, this is a common misconception. he just grew one of his own, as like the others. also, xion had every intention to destroy roxas, as she clearly stated before engaging him. by destroying roxas, he would become a part of her, giving her an identity. plus, roxas stating he defeated riku is not untrue, because he did. in their first battle before riku embraced his darkness, roxas easily overpowered riku, and thus was defeated. only after riku became ansem was roxas beaten. and finally, sora DID disappear during his fight with roxas, as specifically stated by donald and goofy. the conflict brought them both to sora's heart, meaning he was no longer in the world that never was. donald and goofy were left alone, as they told him after he returned. just for the record. otherwise good video!

+Anthony Hand No flack from here, sir. Roxas was an extremely important character in KH2, and 358/2 Days. Great character choice, and Roxas almost feels like the more aggressive or impulsive half of Sora...if not the source or representation of anger. The KH games don't do a deep dive into emotions as a whole, by means of great amounts of detail, however what is conveyed or presented moves the story along and smooths out the definition of each acting character. Roxas is an undeniably awesome character. :)

I noticed that Roxas doesn't beat around the bush with sentimental jargon like long speeches about having a heart, but rather gets blunt and straight to the point. It makes Roxas a pretty solid character in a canon that is built on cryptic conversations and mental warfare between characters.

T-T If there is one thing that i disagree with you, it is more of a matter of opinion, in that when Roxas goes back to Sora, its more like he give up because he doesn't have any other way out.
