Ruslan said he get the new Eve, but he probably doesn't understand the implications- Adam and The First woman were created sinless, and only after they sinned did this first woman take on the name Eve. If you take Mary as the new Eve, you also have to contemplate her immaculate conception. Jesus was sinless, and It would be heresy for God to incarnate within a sinful person. Just like the ark of the covenant made of incorruptible Arcadia wood, and overlaid with Gold, which is also associated with incorruptibility. Old Ark contained stone tablets, rod of Aaron, manna- new Ark contains Word incarnate, High Priest, and Bread of life.

And who am I that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?” is a line from the Bible, Luke 1:43. The line is spoken by St. Elizabeth after Mary visits her home while pregnant with Jesus. The line expresses Elizabeth's feelings of humility and surprise at being part of these events.

At 1:08, "We don't worship her in the way we worship God." He just said that they worship Mary. They use their traditions to redefine the truth of their dogma. Where, outside the Roman Church, is their evidence that Mary was assumed in to heaven? You read her sinlessness in to the Scripture. The mental gymnastics you just went through is remarkable.

I appreciate how he broke all this down. The only thing I’m wondering about all of this, is, God says him self we are all sinners in need of a savior. I think if Gods intention was to keep Mary sinless, I feel like we would see that in scripture and Romans 3:23 maybe would’ve mentioned something in regards to Mary being sinless (not directly maybe but somehow giving us definite knowledge that she was sinless). After hearing his explanation, my logical brain thought “yes I can see that, but without having to read in to it or fill in the gaps we wouldn’t come to that conclusion based solely off scripture it self because scripture it self tells us we are all sinners” Jesus being sinless is because he was divine, because he is God in the flesh sin is not of his nature. It almost sounds like you have to argue Mary has some sort of divinity in order to count her sinlessness plausible. Not saying she’s divine but my logical, incompetent brain goes to that. Also this isn’t to hate on anything said or anything like that, just trying to get my brain to work through it that’s all.

I believe that whilst she carried Jesus she was kept from sin. To me that is logical because God in his nature hates sin so it would seem a contradiction to carry God and sin. Does that mean I think she didn't sin outside of that. It's possible that God could have kept her from sinning but there is nothing to go on. I do however feel regardless that Mary if she did sin she sinned significantly less than most people which is part of the reason God chose her. It just wouldn't make sense to say that she is the most blessed among women. Enough to carry Jesus and be a prolific sinner

I’m a former Protestant. Protestants have an issue of not fully underwriting scripture, and also assuming they know Catholicism more than Catholics. When I finally looked into Catholicism myself, it led me to becoming Catholic. I was a Protestant for my entire life, 37 years. Not one Catholic, not one, believes Mary is the second Jesus. Again, Protestants routinely mischaracterize Catholicism because they can’t argue the merits well. God did not split the church 1500 years after he walked.

I would add that this misunderstanding is between all denominations and sects of Christianity. I feel I’ve personally transcended the boundaries of religion, yet I still have many questions or concerns with my Catholic brothers and sisters. Specifically on the topic of Mary, could you further expand how you view her? What is the purpose of the rosary? To my understanding, it is mostly a meditation (which is MOSTLY fine in my opinion, although many verses to suggest we should meditate on Jesus and God our Father alone) but most Catholics I speak to have told me it’s asking her to intercede for us - which I feel is alarming because of scripture (1 Timothy 2:5 is the first one that pops up in my head). Any response is greatly appreciated! I hope you feel my respect through this questioning.

This Queen of Heaven stuff makes me really uncomfortable. You`d think if this character was so important, it would be mentioned more in the Bible. Mary is barely even mentioned by the earliest church fathers. Irenaeus mentions her, but more in relation to the Son she gave birth to, which is more God`s work than Mary's. Edit - Watched the video again, the arguments are very weak. Even if Mary was sinless, she could not have done this through her own strength, but had to be enabled to do so by God. The documents he mentions are hundreds of years after the apostles, and while he claims that it took the church hundreds of years to get their doctrine straight, I encourage you to read early church fathers like Irenaeus. Catholics (and orthodox) seem OBSESSED with worshipping Mary. We have a Bible, we have Jesus Christ who died for our sins and is now at the right hand of the Father. Why do you always need more ? Why isn`t Christ enough? Why do you need to worship saints, Mary, images and idols? Read your Bible, and pray to God, its simple. If there is something God chose to not reveal, we will find about it in Heaven. But if its not in the Bible, and it cannot be clearly deduced from its verses (like the concept of Trinity), stay away from it, because its probably just the traditions of men.

Mary as the Queen of Heaven or directly details of her Assumption. These doctrines are derived from biblical typology, implicit references, and Church tradition. Below are some key scriptural passages often cited in support of these beliefs: --- Mary as the Queen of Heaven 1. Revelation 12:1 "A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head." This passage is often interpreted by Catholics and Orthodox Christians as symbolizing Mary, the mother of Jesus, in her glorified, queenly role in heaven. The "crown" reflects her queenship. 2. 1 Kings 2:19 "So Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. The king stood up to meet her, bowed down to her, and sat down on his throne. He had a throne brought for the king's mother, and she sat down at his right hand." In Israelite tradition, the king's mother (the queen mother, or gebirah) held a special place of honor. Mary, as the mother of Jesus (the King of Kings), is seen as the Queen Mother in the heavenly kingdom. --- Mary's Assumption 1. Psalm 132:8 "Arise, O Lord, into Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength." Mary is often typologically identified as the "Ark of the Covenant" because she bore Jesus, the Word of God. Just as the ark was taken into the temple, Mary is believed to have been assumed body and soul into heaven. 2. Luke 1:28 "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!" The phrase "full of grace" (kecharitomene in Greek) implies a unique, sinless state. This is interpreted as supporting her Assumption, as death and bodily corruption are consequences of sin. 3. Revelation 11:19 - 12:1 "Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there appeared a great sign in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun..." The mention of the Ark of the Covenant, immediately followed by the vision of the woman, suggests Mary as the new Ark in her glorified state in heaven. -------- Typology: The Ark of the Covenant and Mary There is a profound typological parallel between the Ark of the Covenant returning to King David in the Old Testament and Mary's visitation to Elizabeth in the New Testament. This typology underscores Mary as the new Ark of the Covenant, carrying Jesus, the Word of God. Notably, both David, a high priest figure, and John the Baptist, the son of a high priest, play key roles in this parallel. --- The Ark of the Covenant Returns to David 2 Samuel 6:9-16 The Ark is brought to the house of Obed-Edom and remains there for three months (2 Samuel 6:11). David, acting as a high priest (1 Chronicles 15:27), asks, "How can the ark of the Lord come to me?" (2 Samuel 6:9). David dances and leaps with joy before the Ark (2 Samuel 6:14). The Ark symbolizes God’s presence and blessing among His people. --- Mary Visits Elizabeth Luke 1:39-56 Mary travels to the house of Elizabeth and stays for three months (Luke 1:56). Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, asks, "Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" (Luke 1:43). John the Baptist, the son of Zechariah (a high priest from the line of Aaron), leaps in Elizabeth’s womb at Mary’s greeting (Luke 1:41). Mary is carrying Jesus, the Word of God incarnate, who is God’s presence among His people. --- Typological Connections 1. The Ark and Mary as Vessels of God's Presence The Ark of the Covenant contained: The tablets of the Law (Word of God). Aaron’s staff (symbol of priesthood). Manna (bread from heaven). Mary, as the new Ark, carried Jesus: The Word of God made flesh. The eternal High Priest. The Bread of Life. 2. Three Months of Presence The Ark remains in the house of Obed-Edom for three months, bringing blessing. Mary stays with Elizabeth for three months, carrying Jesus and bringing joy. 3. Leaping with Joy in the Presence of God David, a high priest figure, leaps and dances before the Ark. John the Baptist, the son of a high priest, leaps in Elizabeth’s womb when Mary, the new Ark, arrives. 4. "How can the ark/mother of my Lord come to me?" David’s question mirrors Elizabeth’s awe and recognition of Mary’s unique role. --- This typology highlights Mary as the new Ark of the Covenant, emphasizing her unique and sacred role in salvation history. The involvement of high priestly figures-David in the Old Testament and John the Baptist in the New Testament-underscores the divine presence and priestly significance of this moment. --- Tradition and Development These doctrines are also supported by early Christian writings and Church tradition. The Assumption of Mary was formally defined as dogma by Pope Pius XII in 1950, while her title as Queen of Heaven has been part of the Church’s devotion for centuries. Both are understood as consistent with Scripture and apostolic teaching.

Protestants tend to be extremely ignorant about WHEN the Marian dogmas began to appear. It was remarkably early. Epiphanius, for instance, was affirming the Assumption of Mary in the year 377. Likewise a great proof for the assumption of Mary being an early tradition is that, before the council of Chalcedon, which most protestants accept the teaching of, the emperor asked the bishop of Jerusalem to bring with him to Chalcedon Mary's relics (namely, her bones). The bishop replied that there were no relics of Mary, and that she had been taken up into heaven at her death. The other Marian dogmas are even earlier than that. If these dogmas were already present and well established by Chalcedon, protestants really have no solid footing for rejecting them, unless they also reject Chalcedonian Christianity.
@justchilling7044 сағат бұрын
This is already known, however 3 of the Marian dogmas are at minimal one to two hundred years removed from the apostles, and have no scriptural backing whatsoever.

I am a Protestant and I am aware. The protoevangelium of James was written in 150 AD and was heavily circulating at that time. That’s how Catholics and their veneration of Mary started. You will not find any veneration or prayer to the saints or Mary before 200 AD.
@bencook65852 сағат бұрын
@justchilling704 "No scriptural backing whatsoever" is just false as well. You just interpret scripture differently. Also for a protestant who argues that something arising in the 4th century and being continually taught and practiced for the next 1000+ years after, I would say this. What took the reformers so long? If this was an accretion, did the gates of Hell prevail against God's church for the at least 600 years when there was only 1 church (before the orthodox schism)? You're left then arguing that your interpretation of scripture is enough to contradict hundreds of years of scriptural interpretation within the church, which is a profoundly arrogant thing to assert.

@@catharsis77 the Catholic church would agree with you. Mary did not merit the grace, her soul was glorified by God. To pray is to ask, how come this is so confusing for modern protestants. James 5:16 16-18 NKJV Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. @kewpified2 сағат бұрын
God saved Mary by preventing her from original sin from the moment of her conception, (that's why she's refered to as the Immaculant conception) applying the grace of Jesus' future sacrifice in advance because He is outside time. Just like someone might be saved by being prevented from falling into a pit, Mary needed a Savior, and God saved her in this extraordinary way so she could be a pure and holy mother for Jesus. This unique gift doesn't make her less dependent on God-it shows His power and mercy. Immaculate Conception Explained The Catholic Church teaches that Mary was preserved from original sin from the moment of her conception by a unique grace from God, in anticipation of the merits of Jesus Christ. This teaching is based on Luke 1:28, where the angel Gabriel calls her "full of grace," implying a special fullness of God’s life and holiness in her. God's Timelessness: God exists outside of time, so the saving grace of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross could be applied to Mary at her conception. This is similar to paying a debt before it is due. Prevention vs. Cure Analogy: Imagine someone falling into a pit (sin) and being rescued (salvation). Due to original sin, humanity is born in the pit so to speak. Mary, however, was saved by being prevented from falling into the pit in the first place. God "saved" her by preserving her from sin entirely. Mary Calling God Her Savior: In Luke 1:47, Mary rejoices in "God my Savior" because she, like all human beings, depends entirely on God for salvation. The difference is how she was saved: For us, salvation is a cure for sin already committed. For Mary, salvation was a prevention from sin by a singular grace. Biblical Parallels Genesis 3:15 refers to the "woman" whose offspring will crush the serpent's head. Catholics see this as a prophecy about Mary and her role in salvation history. Romans 5:19 speaks of Christ undoing Adam's sin. Mary, as the "New Eve," shares uniquely in this redemptive work by being sinless and fully obedient to God.
@ChrisMeyers-dq9bvСағат бұрын
@kewpified I used to be Catholic but am now protestant. My issue is the scriptures never mention Mary being sinless. There are many spiritual heroes in the Bible who are favored and blessed above others and that includes Mary. The scriptures are very clear that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The scriptures are very clear that Jesus was perfect without sin. When I was a Catholic, and issue I came across was that proclaiming Mary to be sinless instilled a respect for her that was almost adulterous. An example of this is praying to her. I think that she would have the same response as the angels did when they were worshiped, "don't bow to me, for I am a servant of the most high.'

There are many things that the church received that are not mentioned in the bible (explicitly). John 21:25 (NRSVCE): But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. The understanding of the Trinity is not mentioned blatantly like, For the Lord is Triune, One God in three persons. There's also nowhere that Jesus says, I am God worship me. Nowhere in these exact words, does it say, Jesus is fully God and Fully man. This is what is dangerous about interpreting scripture on your own and not trusting that Jesus left a Church to guide those who want to know him and submit to him. 2 Peter 1:20-21 (NRSVCE): First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God. 1 Timothy 3:15 (NRSVCE): If I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and bulwark of the truth.

Byzantine Catholics celebrate the Dormition of the Theotokos (Mary), which commemorates her peaceful “falling asleep” and assumption into heaven. This feast is observed on August 15, the same date as the Roman Catholic celebration of the Assumption of Mary, but with theological and liturgical nuances specific to Eastern tradition.

Thank you for this video. It only strengthened my beliefs that the Catholic Church is espousing extra-biblical doctrines that cannot be found in the Bible with a properly contextualized reading.

You are certainly welcome to believe and profess whatever you want to believe, there are plenty of differing beliefs in the world today based on the Bible, just pick one. But to glean this from the historically decidedly Catholic Trinitarian book is just plain frivolous… History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, - the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, - the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books, and ONLY the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, - not only did they not agree but their individual lists of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. Therefore, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church, guided by the Holy Spirit, that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 4th century, and preserved these scriptures by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself? Peace!!!

The woman of Rev. 12 is not Mary, it is the nation of Israel. Mary fled to Egypt with her baby for an unknown time. THe Rev. 12 woman flees to the wilderness for a time, times and half a time, i.e. 3.5 years. This refers to the middle of the 7 year period, when antichrist breaks the covenant (Daniel 9:27) and starts his persecution of the Jewish nation (Mat. 24:15:21). Bad interpretations lead to bad timing of things to come, which leads to situations like the foolish virgins.

My biggest question is on Mary being sinless. If Mary was sinless from birth through the grace of God, born to a mother and father who sin previously, why couldn't God just have enough grace for all of mankind in order to keep them from sinning in the first place? Unless Mary didn't have free will. And if that is the case, why can't I opt out of having free will and be a perfect representative for Christ, my Lord? I know there is probably a very theological answer of God's sovereignty and will and the plan for humanity for the glory of Jesus. I truly don't seek to pit my will against God's but I just feel extremely bad when hearing this and other things like the predestination stuff in the book of Romans. I am born 2000 years too late to experience Christ's time on Earth or the apostolic age or anything. Now I am just some guy in modern times, riddled with sin, and kinda feeling not good for anything compared to the important people for the past. How should I be looking at this because I know only centering the perspective on myself/my feelings leads to all sorts of sinful tendencies, mainly pride?
@DethHead2819 сағат бұрын
That's a really good question actually. This is why only Christ is sinless, the way and the light. No one else, not even Mary. In a fallen world, Mary would be used to make Christ appear more optional. You shouldn't pray to anyone but Jesus. This is not an answer, this is my belief.

Rom 11:32: "For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all." The thing is that everyone else is by nature a son or daughter of Adam and Eve. God let mankind fall into sin, so that he could bring salvation to us all through His mercy and not as something we earned because we behaved well. In a sense it brings more glory to God that way, because God stands out as a merciful giver rather than a debt collector of what was due to Him. The reason why God preserved Mary from falling into sin is that she could be the new Eve. The fall happened because of two individuals, male and female, disobeying. And our salvation happened in the same regard. The devil could get dominion over Eve, but he could not have dominion over Mary. That's why there is enmity between the snake and the woman. Would the women sin, then it would be a game over for the woman. No sinner has anything he could use against the devil. It's an automatic defeat. God created not just men, but women also. If Christ, the man-god is our only example, then women are lacking a more specific role model for he was a man. That's why God had to provide a role model for women also, which is Mary. Christ is God descended from heaven, Mary is human ascended to heaven, participation in the divinity of her son out of Christ love for her and the whole church. Mary is also a symbol for the whole church, hence the imagery in Revelation kind of overlaps with the church. Mary had God in her through the incarnation. We have God in us because of the Holy Spirit and by eating the Eucharist, the flesh and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. God and mankind are united in Christ. Mary and the saints are glorified beings. They share in the glory that only belongs to God and which he couldn't just share in the Old Testament until Christ took mankind upon Himself, by redeeming us from sin and death.

Merry Christmas! I just wanted to point out that Revelation 12 has absolutely nothing to do with Mary. The woman is Israel, which is why the crown on her head has twelve stars (twelve tribes of Israel). Not only can we tell these verses are about Israel by the context, but we can refer back to Genesis 37:9-10 where Joseph has a dream: Genesis 37:9-10 [9] Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” [10] But when he told it to his father and to his brothers, his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves to the ground before you?”

Some protestants domt give mary enough respect. Well an angel gave her respect saying you are full of grace before Jesus was conceived in her womb. Mary was called blessed among women by Elizabeth moved by the spirit of God or the holy spirit. John leaped in elizabethss womb at the sound of marys voice. Jesus said blessed are those who believe without seeing. Elizabeth said to her blessed are you who believed the lord would fulfill her promise. Mary is blessed and Christians give her no respect by calling her just a holy woman.

Jesus also refers to the Samarian woman as "woman" later on in John 4:21. "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father..." so I remain unconvinced of this logic. Appreciate the heart of Catholics and their reverence for God, and would encourage everyone to read the bible for themselves as well - I mean really dig deep and meditate on its truths - in addition to listening and submitting to their teachers. You won't believe how blessed you will be for doing this. As Psalm 19 says, God's word truly revives the soul, makes the simple wise and enlightens the eyes. @14:09 This is true! The OLDEST known Christian prayer ever archeologically found is the Sub Tuum Praesidium... and it is a prayer to Mary! 🙏🏻 It dates back to the mid-late 200s AD (ish). It was discovered on a papyrus fragment in Egypt. The prayer is: "We fly to your patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin." Also, I think the title is a good example of how one little word can create a lot of confusion and division. As Catholics, we believe Mary was ASSUMED into Heaven (God's power, similar to Elijah/Enoch)... not ASCENDED (her own power). That one little word changes EVERYTHING. Sadly, even some poorly catechized Catholics are confused about that... which could lead to possible worship of her as "god-like"... but that is not what the Catholic Church teaches at all. Worship is reserved for God alone.
