Great song. It is a good testimonial song. Life can get pretty rough sometimes but when you have Christ, just ride those storms out with him

My grandma wanted this song sung at her funeral by a group they had at the church she went to. Everytime I hear it now I can understand why she wanted it sung. It was her testimony and also a way of giving an altar call to those unsaved attending. Hers was no funeral, it was a homegoing celebration. Her saved loved one's and friends shouted down the church.

Valerie for at least 35 years or more now, I have had this same request for when it's my time to go as your Grandmother had.

When I was younger singing with a group, one of our faithful followers asked that this be sung at his funeral. Back then, in my youth, I remember thinking about how morbid that was and why he'd ask us to do it. Eventually the day came and we did sing it at his funeral. As I get older and closer to going home, I finally understand. It wasn't morbid. It was a joyful request...from a life well lived. A request full of hope and beauty. I get it now Mr. Turner. I get it.

without a doubt the absolute be Kingsmen song of all time-------------1977 heard it in a dairy barn in Franklin County Alabama on WWWR 960 Radio AM and I was a senior in high school and this song still gives me chill bumps. I got to sing "Ray Dean's part about 2-3 years ago at a singing in Alabama and I can sing bass but I was so darn nervous I didn't do it justice........It blessed me every time I hear and sing it.........43 years later too I might add so it has meant so much to me personally as do the Kingsmen. I love this bunch too one of the all time best line ups I truly believe.

I still remember having Chattanooga Live, from the year 1977. Big Jim Hamill introduced Ernie Phillips on that album, and I believe that it was the first time that they did this song back then. Jim Hamill's introduction of Ernie on that album was hilarious! Loved it, and still love this song to this day!

@@ronaldshank7589 I remember that as well Hamill was a fine singer but it was his personality and presence on and off stage that made his mark on the industry and more importantly for the Kingdom at least Ray is still here to bridge the gap between now and the past

@@johntabler349Jim Hamill, upon introducing Ernie Phillips for the first time: "He's 5 foot, 2 inches tall...and weighs 102 pounds. Folks, that suit he's wearing is a Buster Brown Suit, cut down all that it can be cut down! It's a size 18"! Jim sure loved picking on Ernie...but they were doing a concert in a big city one time, and suddenly Big Jim realized that Ernie had gone missing. Anyway, Jim went out to where they had their own assigned lockers. Jim goes to open up his locker, and Ernie jumps right out at him!!! Jim's like:"He jumped out at me, and yelled BOO!!!!! That little feller about to give me a Heart Attack, he scared me so bad"!!! I miss these two Gospel Music Legends. May we be reunited with them in Heaven some day.

@@ronaldshank7589 my favorite was when he said those cowboy boots he's wearing cost almost 100dollars a pair...that sales lady took one look at him and asked if he wanted a little red hat and a couple of cap guns to go with it. Of all the great live recordings they did in that era Live Naturally was my favorite and the ending Ernie Phillips put on the encore of Love Lifted me the "high point " of his distinguished career
