Love my 2022 UX and it's lifted hatchback look! Would never consider trading it for an NX. I think the UX has a very specific appeal that the people who like it would not consider an NX or RX. I know those were never even in my considerations when I was looking for my 2022. I had a specific size and look in mind, and the UX is the best vehicle in that class and price. Bought a 2023 Lexus UX250h, exactly as you've mention in the video is what my wife and I went for. Compact car for cruise between city and highway. We get good MPG, car has power when you need it, and with updated infotainment system there isn't much else left to be desired. Compared to quite a few other brands here in Ireland Lexus UX comes with a lot of equipment when cross checked with competitors, so it makes it almost a no brainer in terms of worth.

I bought an UX 250h F Sport against a Mazda CX-30 because - beside the overall excellent Lexus quality and the hybrid option - I got an exceptional discount vs. MRSP. I checked the NX, RAV4 and Mazda CX-5 too, all unnecessary big for us. The Corolla and the Mazda 3 were not having the quality we were looking for (but the Mazda 3 was nicer than Corolla, despite lacking the hybrid at that time). Whomever is comparing the UX and NX through money lenses is mostly not right. People like me (with a minimalist, travel light approach or single/couple only, not needing a big trunk etc.) will always buy small cars (almost fully equiped - some options are quite useless) against the bigger ones. Still happy with the UX, zero issues (recalls included) in 3+ years. Very good handling, reliable, low TCO (especially for a luxury crossover), very quiet, very comfortable (even more with our F Sport leatherette seats), having a CD-player, an analogical clock, a soft armrest with audio controls (beside those on the steering wheel) etc. I liked less all the other finalists. And I am keeping my initial opinion, UX 250h was/is the best choice for us. It has an excellent quality/price ratio. The Consumer Reports reliability surveys confirm my opinion too.

Otherwise get a well-equipped (new for '23) Corolla Cross Hybrid*, which ICE will get the tuning upgrades (as will the 5G Prius AWD) the UX didn't get. You won't get "the Lexus goodies", but you get far more value in that footprint of a crossover, which is seldom sold by the luxury competition. Still, a middle-level NX350h and its' 240hp self-charging NA-2.5L HSD I4 seems like a far better value as the UX is TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ITS' SIZE. I have a gut feeling Lexus will bring back the CT (on its' new gen, based on the 5G Prius) to replace the UX as early as the '24 MY. * yes, the UX is the same size (within 1" / 25mm on all measure stats) as the Corolla Cross, only that the UX gets a raked rear, like the Infiniti QX55 vs. the QX50 or Nissan Rogue / Xtrail, hence the even smaller cargo room than a Corolla Cross

The actual EV mode button will only keep it in EV mode up to about 25 mph. Once you step too hard on the gas it’ll switch to the engine. It’s more for when you’re going slow in a parking lot or traffic or idling and don’t want it to switch to the gas engine to charge the battery. ( which it will do on its own when it needs too) It will automatically switch to EV mode during normal driving when you’re coasting at any speed, going downhill, coming to a stop etc., if it has enough charge in the battery. I find in my RAV4 hybrid that on the hwy, I can get it to go into EV mode more when I don’t have CC on but it’s all very automatic and works great. Just let it do it’s thing and you’ll get awesome gas mileage!

Really not thought over comment. The car you choose is not always the biggest one for your budget - in many cases is not about money, but about the size. For example, I do not like big cars, especially that we are a couple and we do not travel with other people in our car, we travel light etc. Thus our UX is more than enough for us - we didn't want a NX or RX (at about 20% below MRSP) because they are far too big for us. We have anyhow other small cars, such as a Miata ND2 RF G-184 and a smart for city. There is a reason for the very existence of small cars and some people's opinion against small cars doesn't matter.

2019 UX 250h F Sport. Fits and finishes are similar to the new NX, the quietness is better (and even better than in the old NX). There is the ML system on Luxury (top variant), but the regular audio system sounds well (not as good as ML, ofc, but more than decent for a regular person - even I, as an ex-DJ and classic music lover, am OK with it). I am 6'1" and my wife is 5'9" and we are using the comfortable seats for long trips (up to 5 hours) with no issue - only the Recaro seats on my Miata ND2 are better. The trunk is more than enough for a couple with a child. I used it to transport a packed 65" OLED TV that - to my big surprise! - fitted its trunk with the second row of seats down. I bought the UX because in 2019 its tech was better and its size more appropriate for our needs than the bigger NX and RX. After 3+ years and 40K+ kilometers there were 0 (zero) issues and better performance than in the official figures. I am pleased with my choice, I do not understand the negative comments coming from others, as I got what I paid for. Those praising the NX should've buy it, not the smaller UX. @@codincoman9019 Lexus UX has never had Mark Levinson, though I see you measuring in KMs so I'm wondering if your from Europe in which I wouldn't know what the specs are out there, but from my knowledge Mrs have never been offered as an option. In fact that's always been a big complaint, the 8 speaker system lacks bass, unless on CarPlay, bluetooth, or you mess with the speaker settings. The NX and the UX are very similar but there is slightly less hard plastic in the NX. When you said, "I used it to transport a packed 65" OLED TV that - to my big surprise! - fitted its trunk with the second row of seats down." You hit the nail on the head, "with the second row seats down." I have a baby brother who often is in the back seats and when we have s troller with us. the trunk is utterly useless. I too have transported a 60" to be exact. With the rear seats all down.We still love the car, and have a bigger second car for Costco runs, for packs of water, toilet paper, & napkins. Nonetheless Lexus shouldn't market this vehicle as an SUV, like they have, when Accords quite literally almost the same exact size. When we got tints, they charged us the hatchback/sedan price. When we go to Chik-Fil-A or Culvers they mark us down as a hatchback. Lexus simply needs to call it what it is. Like I said we love this vehicle and would buy it again, but Lexus IS giving the illusion that this is a suv, when in fact its a hatchback. I suppose, and I' e read many other arguments as well, that they do it so they can charge more.

@@jaydenp.6243, Europe (at least, I don't know about Asia) has the option called "Luxury Mark Levinson" that, ofc, has the ML with 13 speakers. But we were fine with our 8 speakers system (Panasonic, if I remember correctly), working very well with our CD's, better than the entry level (Executive) 6-speakers system. Of course, it doesn't have the powerful and very rounded bass of an SVS or GoldenEar subwoofer (used in 10-speakers surround systems in our homes), but it is OK, we very rarely cranck up the volume to the maximum (even I used to be a DJ when I was a student). When we bought the UX, we did it after researching and drive-testing it (+NX, Mazda CX-5, CX-30 etc.). It was obvious that the UX is a hatchback (it was presented to us by the sales rep as the "upgrade" of the CT), with AWD capabilities (very limited in offroad, but useful for speeding more in the curves etc.). Nobody can take it as a SUV (except some washing stations or some people not good at cars), it is just a heightened HB. In our UX brochure the UX is not presented as a SUV, but as an urban crossover (thus the explanation of its name), so I cannot complain of any false advertising from Lexus (btw, Toyota/Lexus, being Japanese, does respect its customers, not like many other auto producers, BS-ing the clients). The NX is far closer to a SUV, but we do not like the SUV's (old school family, for us a 4-doors sub-compact car is the maximum we need/want). We didn't want a bigger sized car, we enjoy the small cars. So why should we pay 10k more for something we don't need? OK, the sales rep was offering a more special offer for the NX, the difference was quite small (in 2020 their parking was full of cars), but we liked far more the UX. In 3+ years we used the rear sets 3 times (once for the 65" TV), never more than an hour, never more than 2 persons in the back. Not even our small dog wants to seat in the back, he enjoys sitting with us in the front (in the Miata that's anyhow the only way). I am tall (at least by European standards), so is my wife, thus we know the complaints about the interior height of this car are rubbish, except if you expect at least 2 inches of space above your head (when an inch and a half is enough) - or maybe that is the case with standard seats (we have the sport seats - lowered to the max). So, again, who is buying a car and complaining about different "negatives" didn't do enough research (theoretical and practical) or/and likes to complain in general. Not us. For example, we are happy with our Miata ND2 and we took one-month trips to Greece etc. with 0 issues, because we know how to travel light - we even didn't have to wash clothes and we had also space for shopping items. You buy a car for what it is, not for what you want it to be (except when you want to tune it and you can or when you don't have the necessary money for what you really need/want).

It seems that almost all the people commenting that a Toyota is better than a Lexus don't have the necessary cash or at least the cash-flow to afford a Lexus. Apparently they do not own a Lexus and all they can do is to comment about others' cars. If they would care to research, they would discover that the difference between a Toyota and a Lexus on the same chassis is worth the money: many aluminium parts (even most of the body panels), better lights and brakes, far better insulation, better glass, other settings, far better materials inside, better sound system, discreet luxury etc. I did drive all the available cars on the TNGA platform for this class in 2019: Corolla, C-HR and UX. The UX was better by far from all points of view - you could've swear that it was built on another chassis. As the real car experts say: Lexus is not just a glorified Toyota. The rest will just expose their lack of info or frustrations.
