My sister has a dish and food problem similar to this situation. She can not put her dishes away because she has literally hundreds of plastic convenience store drink cups. Her kitchen, mud room, and garage are overflowing with old food and new food and clean and dirty dishes. I've tried to talk her into getting rid of some of her hundreds of cups, utensils, paper plate holders, cutting boards, etc. She absolutely can not do it. I have helped her discard old food multiple times, and every time, she wants to give expired cans to the food bank, which I have refused to do. She has many other hoarding problems, but she is mentally incapable of making these changes. Thank you for helping this person to the point you are able.

It must be difficult for you also to see her struggles and only be able to do so much to help, I hope both your sister and this gentleman are able to get help ❤️ x
@sarahholland2600Ай бұрын
I would pretend you're taking the expired cans away to donate then dump them. At least that way she gets used to letting things go & that might flick the switch re other stuff.
@AZHITWАй бұрын
@@sarahholland2600 I did that for a friend's daughter, I was cleaning the house getting it ready to go on the market, when the homeowner tried to give me things I politely said no thank you. Her daughter took me aside and said, "please take anything she wants to give you, and you can toss it later." So, I did as requested and the homeowner decluttered happily, and I just took the items and donated what I could and tossed the things that weren't donatable.

My mother tends to buy food and not use it. She also has a hoarding disorder for sure, but with the food, I think it's more a shopping addiction. They see the "great deals" and buy stuff they don't actually need or really want and squirrel it away to never be touched. My sister and I have been slowly helping her over the past 6 months but it's a hard habit to break.

Hi. I enjoy your videos and I’m glad you are helping people and succeeding with your channel at the same time. I live in a medium size city in the northeastern US which area is named New England. I’m 67 years old and have never seen a cockroach in my life. I don’t know how these awful creatures appear but it has to do a lot with bigger metropolitan area and food and waste pileups. Also, one tenant living in these conditions can affect whole apartment buildings. It’s a sad consequence of urban living as once they appear, they are hard to eradicate. I wanted you to know that if you ever decide to visit the US, you are not terrified of running into these little creatures. Have a wonderful day. I hope to see Danielle soon but are glad you’re so committed to your endeavor that you are willing to go it alone sometimes.

As a single guy this clean resonates with me. It is all too easy to end up with too much crockery and cutlery in a one person household. 1. I moved out of my parents' house in 2004. Bought stuff that I thought I'd obviously need for the flat I moved into but I was also gifted a lot of items over the years from my sisters and parents. Ended up with 8 dinner plates within the first few months and 9 now as a friend brought round a birthday cake for me! When I asked her if she wanted her plate back she said that I could keep it. 2. Both my parents have since passed away and that meant that the family house had to be sold. So I had emptied the cupboards of what I could. I now have some of my mum's baking trays and so much cutlery now that I could host a banquet! To be fair, my sisters took their fair share of the stuff. One thing I can't comprehend is the amount of food and drink / grocery items this chaps has. I only buy what I really need and I dislike supermarket shopping at the best of times.

I always enjoy your voiceovers, whether it's just you or with your 'partner in cleaning'. 😊 Absolutely love that you'll be using YT proceeds for supporting a local Food Bank! ❤❤ I had a laugh at the comments on roaches. Where I live they are EVERYWHERE no matter what - living in a coastal southern area in the States means tons of those and all kinds of other bugs - termites, spiders, ants... The list is unending. Our 'Palmetto bugs' aka roaches can get pretty huge. 😬 I have a pro bug company spray the perimeter of the house every 3 months and put traps all around the interior of the house too. Keeps them under control at least.

Don't worry about what people say about your videos. Just do what you enjoy. Different people like different things and you can't please everyone. I don't personally care about the cleaning sounds. I don't mind them, but I wouldn't miss them if they weren't there. I watch for the commentary and the before and after shots, and sometimes will rewind to watch something I find interesting because I don't really "watch" the videos a lot of the time, I listen to them while I'm working on other things. Like packing and cleaning my house getting ready to move. Or reupholstering a chair like I've been doing all weekend. I do like to clean. Not my own house, but anywhere else. 😂 Coline said on her most recent video that several people commented that she was too chaotic and needed to be more like Mack and Auri. I love her videos! If everybody did their videos and commentary the same way, it would get really boring after awhile, so just do what you like and ignore anyone who complains. If the same people complain, block them. You don't need negativity when you're cleaning for free to help people and haven't even been paid for these videos yet!

Now he has a ton of food and dishes and forks and spoons. There’s no reason he should be hungry now. He’s even willing to eat expired canned goods. Makes me sad really. Ooooh I know I’m late to the game BUT: could this gentleman consider giving his overflow of food to the foodbank also that is on the brink of expiration, but still good? That someone else needs it was my best argument to help my father declutter. Also instead of just replacing the food he maybe should consider investing in more storage space, like cabinets on the wall? Second I agree with the visual learning via KZbin 😃 I learned crocheting and knitting socks, and even felt confident to be midwife for my neighbors sheep 🐑 and deliver her baby when he wasn’t there 😳 she and two of her lambs survived because I collected all my courage, otherwise her chances were 0. And I also keep my eyes more open for people in my neighborhood who need a little support. Oh, and of course I learned cleaning and decluttering here! 😃

I wonder if the guy who lives here has a problem with too many dishes because instead of washing them he goes out and buys new ones. Another great video and you did an awesome job doing the voice over by yourself ❤
@jlaurelcАй бұрын
I used to do that (go out and buy more), but it wasn't even a hoarding thing, it was just really difficult for me to do dishes. The textures, the smells...🤢 Getting a good dishwasher and not being fussy about what I put in it has changed so much for me. I know I'm not "supposed" to put pots and pans in it, but the other option is not washing them and just buying new ones, so the people who criticize me for it will just have to deal with it. 😎 It's taken some serious therapy to get to this point where I can be realistic and ok with doing things however they can get done, rather than how they're "supposed" to be done, though.
