I think Ramsay knows various languages a little bit. Spanish being one of them, but it was funny lol
@unterdessen88222 жыл бұрын
@@LeoCharles He's fluent in French. French and Spanish both belong to a European language group, that is called "Romance languages" in English. It doesn't really have anything to do with romance, but with the Romans - all of these languages are based on Latin. So they have a vast overlap of vocabulary, that is similar or the same in all of them. If you know Spanish, you can kind of guess your way through Italian sentences (if you're fast enough to keep up with their speed). French is most closely related to Portuguese, but there are still enough words in Spanish, that you could understand without ever having learned it. As someone who studied Latin, you could even pretty accurately guess your way through the Romanian language, because although it nowadays has Slavic elements, it's still a Romance language (as the only surviving example of eastern Latin dialects). Gordon as a native English speaker could also try to understand other languages of the group he naturally belongs to: English is a Germanic language and in one subgroup with Dutch and German. Those are known as West Germanic. The North Germanic subgroup contains Swedish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Faeroese and Danish. (South and East Germanic are extinct.) As an English speaker you can at least understand bits of all of these, but unfortunately English is the least complex of them. It doesn't have that much grammar, so... for someone, who speaks a more complex Germanic language it's much easier to "downgrade" (in terms of grammar) to English, than for an English speaker to "upgrade" to a grammatical nightmare like German. And some words are tricky. "Gift" originally meant "something that is given" in West Germanic. So in English it took on the meaning of "present". But in German it means "poison". Don't confuse the two...
@korokua2 жыл бұрын
@@unterdessen8822 ok but as someone with decent french, it's impossible to understand spoken spanish like that. they're nowhere mutually intelligible, french has gone through many changes and influences from germanic languages that other romance languages haven't. a quick google search reveals that he spent some time in spain and south america, where he learned enough spanish to get buy.
@unterdessen88222 жыл бұрын
@@korokua I agree, that French speakers can't automatically understand Spanish, but as the two are related, speaking French gives you two advantages in this case: - You can guess a couple of words and structures - When you decide to learn one Romance language, already knowing another makes things much easier, becausd you already have a basic idea how the grammar works

Overreaction for food that is going to get people sick....I totally understand. But a lot of it is for the show, more specifically the United States episodes. You often have that in toxic environments: When the regional manager is shit, the sales reps cling together and support each other. Same here: Toxic owners, so the staff is close. Agreed. I'm positive I've seen all these episodes(even went to Nino's, where the bald guy cleans so well, in my old stomping grounds) before but now I just want to binge them all again.

17:25 I remember watching this episode and feeling so happy for those two chefs and seeing the guilt over Darro faces as he realized what was doing was great.

those two chefs around the 15-16 minute mark are so precious and inspired after letting them cook their own dishes, i hope theyre still doing well and i love to see people make something with their own talent and inspiration !! 🥺✨

If I remember correctly one of the two actually got either a scholarship or hired by Gordon, so that’s pretty great

IM DYING AT THE LAST GUY. He gave Gordon the same energy Gordon gave him and Gordon HATED it. LMFAO
@carlairving3 жыл бұрын
Except Gordon is here to teach and help them, not the other way around. When someone tries to help you get out of a fucking hole you dig yourself, you shouldn't talk shit to them IMHO.

Yeah because he is offering his expertise and help and they are a nasty failure. You don’t get to return the energy when you’re absolute bs.

it's necessary tho. He's seeing all his failures at once while being yelled at. only way he will hopefully change for good

On the bright side, they did turn it around. That restaurant was successful and ran until the brothers sold it in 2019, reportedly for family reasons according to other comments. I know theres a video of their farewell on youtube somewhere.

11:06 "People say, 'Well, he's a five-star Michelin chef.' Okay, so he's got four tires and a spare. Kiss my (a)ss! It means nothing to me." Dude, you had _no_ Michelin star. According to your own analogy, you were equivalent to a dilapidated car with no tires: absolutely useless and probably belongs in a junkyard.
@lucdochterman97673 жыл бұрын
And considering a restaurant can only have a max of three Michelin stars, and Gordon has earned a total of 16 over his career and currently holds 7 demonstrates that this guy doesn't know anything about Michelin stars, or Chief Ramsay.

That is why he is out back smoking -- instead of doing his damn job -- using AVOIDENCE AVOIDENCE to delay the inevitable: being told he is a monumental POS!

i always love how that one guy starts off talking about how much he cleans, and chef immediately goes on a mission to call his bullshit over the entire restaurant. LOL
