You could test the junk yard compressor before installing it by applying voltage to it, and see if the clutch engage or not, if it is, check the clutch clearance to see if it is in the spect, if it is, the compressor is good.

Great job, I like your diagnosis, I have question , why don’t check A/C Compressor Control Valve ? and if the A/C Compressor Control Valve is fail , What is its effect on the compressor?

@engineerhussien2692 I don't usually check the compressor valve, we replace the compressor with the valve, if the valve is defective the compressor will fail eventually!

With a new compressor you must change condenser and receiver dryer to keep the warranty in effect. This is essential if the compressor failed internally with debris through the system. Either way new or used compressor you should flush the AC to ensure no debris is in there. Since the system was not leaking the condenser is probably still good. A good time on the vacuum pump will clear the moisture from the receiver dryer. Check the oil level in the replacement compressor. Is this car R134A or R1234YF refrigerant ? ?

For clutch compressor can repair clutch on existing compressor but I think this one is clutch less so can try and replace valve first.

How did you take off the A/C belt without loosening the tensioner bolt? That serpentine belt must've been really stretched out for you to slip off like you did.

Deo, After this Diagnosis if it were my Car the way id fix this AC is that I would only change the Clutch on the Compressor with a 👍 one and that sit. mechanically the Compressor could still be good ,👉 clutch is bad.. tomorrow im waiting for ur Live 👍

Its a ECV compressor, variable displacement. Most of them are clutchless

Do you charge for 2 ac charges. It was low so you had to charge ac first to diagnose it and then drain and recharge for used compressor install.

i guess the light bulb diagnostics method failed. probably because the bulb needs too much current (low resistance, high wattage) for the control signal to provide. use a low wattage bulb next time.
