when you're forced to make music on a soundchip from the late 70s that was just meant to play sfx but you remember you're a chiptune composer:

This has to be the best song using that one type of sound almost the whole time I have ever heard

Don't forget that the TIA wasn't supposed to be used for music, it was _far_ too limited.
@stgigamovement2 жыл бұрын
@@LucasNewton The steam calliope musical instrument from old steam ships has similar limitations to the TIA. Steam calliopes traditionally have 32 notes, and due to them being metal and constantly exposed to the hot steam, they steadily go out of tune. The TIA has 32 pitches and bad tuning. So technically, you could play music written for steam calliope on a TIA.

If the 7800 had games with this kind of music. No one would have complained about the tia chip.

The first few seconds of this was so unlike the TIA's typical output that I wouldn't have been able to identify it as such without knowing in advance.

Why do the waves kinda shake around? was that intentional or does the tia just... do that? Like at 2:26, bottom channel

It (might) be a volume envelope. I'm not saying it is in fact a volume envelope, it's speculation so don't take this as fact.

yeah it's a volume envelope quickly moving from a low and high volume amount, basically tremolo

This is technically possible on a game with no sound effects and few actions on-screen. Think MUS but more primitive.
@cfothough Жыл бұрын
Wrong, it is entirely possible to do plenty on screen with a song like this going on. Matter of fact, this song comes from a demo of the same name for the 2600. I highly suggest you watch it
