The GREAT Jim Healy passed away seventeen years ago today (July 22, 1994). I listened to his show literally every day from 1977 to when he retired in April 1994. I still miss him.

Great memories! Thanks for posting this. Healy was the best. I used to record every show on a cassette tape to listen to at work, so I wouldn't miss a single joke! I also got most of my sports news just from listening to his show! :)

I worked at KLAC- KMET in 81-84. Yes it was a country/wester AM station. We covered all Laker games. Jim Healy came on at 6 every evening. Then KLAC was changed management. Most of us went to KMPC big band music. Yes I can say he was one of a kind. R.I.P. you've made all of us laugh.

Kimberly Smith I discovered him in the mid 80’s and though I knew who he was I’d never listened to him. Once I discovered him I was hooked.

Yup, and Jim was well-known for his boxing announcing from The Olympic on KCOP Ch. 13 that he did from 1970 to 1978. 🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊 😁😁😁😁😁

IIRC, KLAC was the premiere country station in the western U.S., a 50K watt blowtorch. The Mighty 'MET is still legendary today.

I worked in Southern Orange County and lived in Riverside. Jim Healy made my ride home at night actually enjoyable. I could not wait for him to come on the air and If i got home before the show was over, I'd wait and listen. He was by far the best. I am so glad I found him on KZbin! Thank you to whoever posted these clips.

Wow the "chickens**t" soundbite at the beginning was one of Healy's go-tos on the show... this is like watching a birth video. Loved this show on the drive ride home as a kid when I got picked up later in the afternoon.

Always made sure I got home by 5:30 to listen to Jimmy. Still hoping his son, Patrick will play repeats of the shows someday. Who goofed, " I've got to know". "Garvey would of made a great cricket player".

Yep. At the time KLAC was a country station and they aired the Lakers. When KMPC turned to sports talk that's when I really got into him. I was in tears from laughing so hard.

Same! I used to listen to his show with headphones on at work, and would embarrass myself in front of my coworkers many times, by laughing out loud uncontrollably! :-)

How did you find this? My mom heard this in the car and thought it was "weird". She was laughing so hard after the Lasorda Bevacqua comments and the requisite bleeps that we had to pull the car over. On the 405. She became a Healy fan after this.
