You're Wrong About Fortnite Season 3

This video has summarized my feelings on this situation perfectly. I enjoyed this season and no matter what anyone else says I will continue to do so. I enjoy both variety and consistentcy and I find both in this season, in terms of variety fights have never been this location and ressource based for me, it matter a lot where I am, where the zone is, what guns I have, if I have a car, if I have many heals, if there are ways to heal the car, if I got team mates left, if I got a medallion... everything and you can't account for everything every round. But in terms of consistency, specific items I can look for, car mods, weapon mods, what fights I engage in, I can control all that and if I have a tactic games will feel similar despite all these variables. And I like that. If I want variety I can play without thinking too much early game, if I want consistentcy I can simply get the things to play the strategies that most consistently work, by getting the medallion I want, the car I want, by looking for specific heals and fighting only when I think of a plan. This season gives you options of how to play the game, the problem is if you aren't flexible enough with the gameplay that it feels boring or even bad to play. Which competitive unfortunately is. But not to rag on competitive too much, the casuals aren't all good by comparisson either, recently saw a vid about the balance changes and I swear to god every top comment or new comment from the casuals was how it ruined the fun, when while I was playing it beforehand most things felt pretty similar aside from boogie bombs being in and the fists couldown taking longer. I think it's hard to believe these casuals even played the changes before complaining about them. And that's what's frustrating, everyone cries, but like the video said, that's not stopping me from enjoying this season regardless.

Too many win conditions. The fun of Fortnite is that can win with anything right?? Well everyone is saying you need a car or medallions or this or that to win so where is all this variety you're talking about. Y'all act we can't just open up the game play the exact same thing you are playing. Literally contradicting your self. Reisshub is good to watch for comp. but his perspective is so out of whack. He constantly says anything good for casuals is not good for the game and says “you don’t like real Fortnite” but when it’s good for comp, it’s real Fortnite. A lot of comp players think this way, it’s either everything is catered to them or else the people who enjoy something different are bad players who don’t know what real Fortnite is. It’s why epic should’ve never added creative and comp. to this day their worst decision.

I always had the feeling that esports part of the game is not working because Fortnite BR always was oriented to be goofy and in constant change that don't help to stabilize a solid competitive side of the game. I don't understand why they don't differentiate the ranked loadout to be more similar to tournaments one. That's why most of the time competitive players train in creative.

The amount of times I've been shotgun & SMG'd has literally been my experience for years, it didn't matter if I got good or stayed trash it wasn't fun the only reason why I didn't quit was because of the homies making losing fun. This season was refreshing it feels like I'm in a movie then a 8to9 Job. Honestly I'm not a competitive Player, I have to say they deserve a separate game mode that focuses core aspects for them. Epic's gamble with Zero builds proves they can do it.

I've played enough comp and pubs this season to know that this season's theme and meta is not for me. I think I'll just take a well deserved break from fortnite until the summer update, which hopefully Epic doesn't half ass it again this year. With the Nitro fists, it would’ve made him more open, as there’s a small stun before you can move. As for shockwaves, the car still would’ve ended up following him. It can also lead to him getting beamed.

In my opinion, if anything is NOT FORTNITE it is the competitive Fortnite Fortnite was always changing, I loved Fortnite first when they added a new item every week… but comp wants NOTHING new, they want shockwaves, ar, shotgun, heals. I believe Epic is attempting to redefine what Battle Royale is within the Fortnite ecosystem, and that the future definition may no longer include competitive esports as being a priority, or even a thing. FNCS may have run its course, and Arena's failure to draw a healthy crowd shows that it's only pros that really care for comp: the 1%. Continuing to tailor Battle Royale for the competitive niche is only turning away potential casual players, the remaining 99%. Epic has seemingly tried to bridge the gap with Zero Build and Ranked, but the fact that we got what we've got in C5:3 suggests that they're pushing toward a wider, more casual audience. The mass changes that debuted in CH5:1 were not a mistake or miscalculation. They were deliberately done with Zero Build in mind. The double sprint stamina with halved cooldown, the slower walking speed, the projectile bullets --- these were changes made to aid the Zero Build game with no regard for how they would affect the build game. Fortnite came off the blocks this chapter with the intention of de-prioritizing build and moving toward a Zero Build priority. And when you consider that, Wrecked makes a hell of a lot more sense, and where this is all going becomes quite clear.

On a side note, I find it appuling you're getting abuse hurled out you for having a differing opinion. That has no place in any community. It's a shame it has to go to that when talking about a game. We should be thankful for Epics willingness to adapt and freshen the game up so often so deep into a games lifetime. Not complain because it's not the same but new(ish) set of weapons on a similar setting as the last 7 years! We should treat this as a moment in history of gaming and of Fortnite. The thing is that if you say that you don't like this season, you get attacked regardless. I'm not even interested in competitive but in my modest opinion the cars never were a core thing in Fortnite. To an extent I feel like this isn't Fortnite cause the most op thing right now doesn't require to loot, to explore or to chose a spot to land on cause you only need the car and thats it, no weird and fun wrapons, no fun weapon combos. I'm soo happy that people can love this season and I'll try again after a little break but damn, some comments here from the one who like this season are way more toxic than the "competitive players".

I only just started playing Fortnite around Thanksgiving last year, but it quickly became one of my favorite games ever. Honestly I do hate a lot about this season, but I'm still having a ton of fun with my friends. I'm looking forward to seeing how things change next season. :)

I personally just play for fun and I couldn't care less about winning or losing so this season is a massive W for me. I already got my umbrella this season and I never cared about the crown wins anyway. last season I didn't play much because I thought I had enough of fortnite and I needed some time off, but when I tried this season, everything felt so fresh and new and I've been playing nonstop pretty much. this season kinda reminds me of CH3 S2, when zero build mode was introduced. it was the only BR mode for like a week and people were upset because their building skills went to waste, but soon enough they brought back builds and kept ZB as well. I can see the same thing happening here, they could add more counters to cars to make it balanced. it was a nice video man, sorry to hear about the racial slurs and things they called you, but there will always be haters, so just ignore them. instead, focus on the good, I subbed after this video and I hope you have a lot of fun this season like I do

In my opinion, fortnite BR is a GUN shooter game with lots of variety. this is my definition. This season, although there is a lot of variety, doesnt feel like a gun shooter game. although Im having fun this season, I can agree when people say that this season doesnt feel like fortnite, because it doesnt! YES, they had stuff like the marvel mythics, katanas which were no where near guns, but they didnt divert from fortnite being a gun game with variety. this season however, diverted it so much. its now literal "mad max car fighter game that also has guns' instead of "a gun game that also has mad max shooter cars". When Reiss said that people who love this season to the core maybe got tired of fortnite, I could agree with him a bit because that was exactly what was going through my mind. When I was playing with the cars, it did not feel like I was playing fortnite, and I still had fun. So I wondered if maybe I was tired of fortnite. thankfully after the nerf and playing without cars actually being viable, I realized I still loved fortnite. You also said that comp players were being rude towards casuals. But from what Ive seen mostly, SOME (not all) of the people who liked this season were demeaning those who didnt. Like whenever someone posted a clip of the fists being uncounterable or something, all these people just said "F*cking adapt". these people hated the ones who were good at builds. EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT MEANING FOR "FUN". Some like building, some like the gun play while others like cars. But from what Ive seen, SOME (not all) of those who like the cars were the only ones demeaning the others. the comp players just complained about the season, they never insulted those who like the season. Few of those car lovers though? they rejoiced that build players stood no chance. Stop hating on the comp players. They play this game to provide. Its their job, their profession. Dont go "video games is only for fun and not a career" . In that case, soccer is only meant for fun and people who take it as a profession like Ronaldo are idiots. OFC comp players get angry this season as there is 0 skill gap rn and 6+ years of their handwork of getting good at the game is wasted. some of the people who hate the comp players think that they are entitled to kills with 0 skill and win games just by sitting in a car or punching their way through. The reason those few hate this season is because the cars and fists were too OP and the game was nowhere near being balanced, or when they played the game, they didnt feel like they were playing the gun game they loved, because the cars had replaced the guns. Yes, they added stuff like hammers or chrome which werent guns, but then these people liked them as they didnt take away fortnite's identity of a gun game. The reason those few like this season is because the cars and fists were a refreshing way to play, it was unique and fun. 1st I just wanna say that I’m a Christian myself. And if someone is calling you the N word over a video game that just shows how childish and immature they are. There’s no reason or situation where someone should be calling someone that. I’ve met white people that I would consider that more so than any black person I’ve ever met. If you’re using that word just to try and hurt someone then you need to grow up and realize that trying to hurt someone over the difference of opinions is just petty and wrong. I get being frustrated because I’m frustrated that they put out a product and within a few days they’ve already changed it because a bunch of people cried about it. The game is supposed to change. One of the loading screens says to try and learn new ways of playing. (Unless competitive players cry about it then you change it.) it doesn’t say the last part obviously 🙄. It’s just sad to me that they can’t stand behind their work and leave things the way they are. If it’s always the same eventually the games gonna die. And 2nd the game has to be appealing to new players as well. It is a kids game by the way. They have to make it appealing to them as well. If they never had new players coming in we wouldn’t be playing the game right now because it wouldn’t be here. Anyway don’t take things so seriously and just have fun. Adapt to new meta’s and don’t feel like you have to constantly be in control. This is a game for everyone. If one group of people is always in control it will eventually become stale and boring because nothing would ever change. I’m not here to argue just to make a point. And the point is this. My big issue is that I love variety, but I can’t bring myself to love this season. My all time favorite seasons were C2S7 and C3S2, which seem similar in chaos and variety to this season. For some reason though this season just feels like a step too far from Fortnite’s core which I’ve come to love over the last 7 years Don’t let anyone degrade you for having fun this season though. ESSAY INCOMING... Klarque, this a wonderful point you are making. I would consider myself as a competitive casual. Someone who is competitive but doesn't play too much because of time conflicts (1-3hr a week). I totally agree, Fortnite is a game that always changes, however like you said, your take on a season is dependent on your take of consistency in BR or how much it fluctuates in BR. For me, there was a certain consistency I liked about builds because of its fundamental gameplay loop, which albeit differs from zero build. With all the changes this season made there were items that disrupted that fundamental loop (in BUILDS). Items like the Nitro, that allowed you to dash into builds or cars that had a very high dps for players and builds. These items created a dependency that ultimately doesn't rely on you building but by you managing your car. While that was fun for me for some games, car combat isn't why I like builds. Builds is a inherent mechanic for builds br. So in that case, while I appreciate Fortnite's tendency to change. I'll take a break from this season not because I always want og fortnite but bc this season doesn't really appeal to me and that's okay. As the first gameplay trailer for this game said, "The Battle is Building ". God Bless, and thanks for listening to my TED Talk. P.S. In my opinion this season falls flat for many because epic didn’t design the loot pool around their new mechanics. I wanna preface that I do enjoy the new season but I definitely do have some issues with it. We had a season heavily focused on vehicles in ch3 s2 which included new car mods, repair torches, tanks, battle buses and returning vehicles. **however** that one was much better received because we had c4, reworked heavy snipers, armored walls, anvil rocket launchers to with it. If we had a similar situation this season there would be a lot less whining. I also think there is a disconnect from epic and what a build player would want, i don’t see why a player who willingly plays builds over zero build would want to see mechanics like nitro that make building is weak as it is and (kinda unrelated but) would want to have an empty trap slot every season

I can explain another reason I hate it as a mostly casual player. I want to buildfight and use any skills I can procure in matches to win, I enjoy games through improving at the game, the sense of accomplishment at improving at the game, I dont care about wins as much as improvement. The current meta makes that hard since I cant get into competitive due to being low skill/inconveniently timed So I have to play in pubs or ranked where cars and fists are controlling lobbies and I feel I dont get to improve on my core skills and as such the game feels far too boring without that same avenue for growth. That is my personal reason against this season

I am a zero build casual player. My friends gave up this season. If you don't have a car, then you lose. If you don't use the fists to fly around, you lose. I liked the car stuff for the first 3 days until it became the same thing every time. Once I get black knight T-60 and Magnito, I'm out till season 4. I want to play fortnite zero build not Twisted Metal.

Splitting the loot pool is the perfect solution. I have fun with competitive loot pools and balanced skillful things. The cars are super fun but i just don’t like being hit by nitro fist without even getting a chance to hit them back. I like consistency by I like variety in the game just not unbalanced things.

Exactly, it's irritating having to deal with and potentially die to two characters camping together that you didn't expect to be teaming, or when someone jumps in your passenger seat of your vehicle - because even though they shoot at others around us, 1, they're stealing my kills, 2, they make it so I can't move into and use my passenger seat to either heal up or shoot, and 3, I know damn well they will try to kill me when given the first opportunity. Like a false temporary alliance until it's not convenient for them anymore. I love your views on this topic as I think something similar. It really just boils down to the fact that these companies players are so used to using the same strategies, same drop spots, same EVERYTHING to win consistently. So when there’s a season that’s chaotic and crazy that throws them off, they treat it as a ‘black sheep’ of sorts. But the thing is, video games literally exist as entertainment at its very core, and these comp players are so hyperfixated on winning and being the best that I feel that they’ve lost sight of that. As a casual myself, I do actually feel overwhelmed sometimes when I die several times over. But there is a sense of fun when I die in unexpected or crazy ways, and this season definitely gives that vibe off. This season is crazy, chaotic, but most importantly, it’s FUN! Cuz in the end, it ain’t about winning for me, it’s about playing the game I’ve loved since C1S4.

i have been playing fortnite for 7 years, i have practiced my skills in fortnite for years. the competitive side of fortnite is my favorite thing to participate in. it is practically impossible to get to the unreal rank without sitting in a car all game. i’ve gotten unreal every season and im honestly just demotivated to even try this season. playing in tournaments is awful aswell, being there are cars in it. i respect casual players who want to just have fun driving around in cars, but i wish fortnite would take out the mythic cars, and the fists in ranked. i have no problem with regular cars, but when people abuse the overpowered boss cars it makes the game unplayable. i too love to have fun playing, but there’s a difference between fun and broken mechanics that make it impossible to use core mechanics that make i’ve practiced so much to get good at.

I really don’t understand why they don't make 2 versions of the island for both builds and no builds. One version like they have now after this first nerf called Nitro Royale and another version that is just balanced extremely well. You could get wins on your record for either of the 4 game modes. You could base the competitions in the super balanced version of the mode for builds and no builds. This way they would have been satisfying both ends of the player spectrum. All it would take is the different stats for either mode.

This season has been so fun, the gameplay is so chaotic which i kinda missed in previous seasons. Especially with friends its so fun, the final circles with a quarter of the lobby alive are absolute crazy but its fun. Even if we loose i and my friends have fun just because of how crazy it is. The season is fun and i get that some may think different, however some people should maybe try jus have fun instead of trying to play the season like a regular season. That's actually a great idea.... They should make two modes for build mode for casuals and competitive. But they think as if every casuals like non build, I like building but I also want average players to fight against. So imo they should make three game modes- No Build Mode, Casual Build Mode, Competitive Build Mode each having their own loot pool.

honestly, the only problem i have with the actually season, is the nitro fists, like its like the chains, it takes no skill to use and its kinda brainless to use. but honestly, my problem with fortnite is the item shop vaulting and unvaulting skins and the battle pass being exclusive to a season and never being re added again. cosmetics are very important and i think everyone should have an oppritunity to have those cosmetics

Worst thing epic did was add a competitive scene and creative. Creative fast tracked what playground was supposed to do which was develop peoples skills and let the map be explored easily. Competitive made an imbalance that they can never fix now. If competitive never existed and they solely focused on a casual style game, even if arena was maybe still in the game, then it would’ve genuinely made every chapter better than the last, rather than worst than the last. CS, R6, Valorant, LoL, etc… all games that are focused essentially only on competitive. Sure they have a casual aspect but even that is pretty competitive at times. This model works and is why they’re all games that are still doing well apart from siege and valorant, but that’s more because of the creators screwing up the game. Fortnite is trying to please both sides, when both side have this entitlement that the game should be made for them. I mainly play ranked builds, but I would say if Fortnite would go back and decide once and for all for one side, it should be casual without a shadow of a doubt. Everyone wants season 3 and 4 back because they were the most fun, but they also didn’t have comp. the whole changing of the game and adding wonky stuff has been here since chapter 1, and if competitive didn’t exist, people would actually like these changes more. I wish someone had warned epic about becoming an esports title, because no other esports title that is still thriving and relevant is trying to balance a competitive and casual scene. Literally only Fortnite because they’re innovative, but at some point you have to ask, when will the innovation get cut off? And if so, how will they try to balance them, or will they even try? A bit of a ramble, but long story short, competitive is in my opinion the main factor towards Fortnite feeling inconsistent, whacky, and bad for competitive players.

i dig alot about the season but i dont rlly like the meta around fists. they are fun to use but i feel like there isn't rlly much room for any other mobility item with them in the game which means that u practically have to carry them (they are almost more important than an ar this season). With it being such a de-facto item i feel like there's less room to get creative with loadouts. the only real choice i find myself making loadout wise dis season is carrying medkits vs. carrying an anti-car weapon like the crossbow or boogie bombs.

I still am in awe with how much this season has divided the fortnite community all because car goes pew pew (That is definitely over generalizing the actual issue but still is quite funny). For me, I've been playing since early chapter 1, and even back then felt like things got stale because even with all the weapons in a round to choose from, an AR and Shotgun were the dominating options and were catered to the most. When I booted up this new season and played my first round, it did feel different, but to me it felt refreshing to have so many options and combinations of items to use. I felt like I could win a round of fortnite without a shotgun (crazy I know). Yes, the balancing was not great but this happens pretty often during a new season with new weapons. Idk I think the biggest problem I have is when I feel called out and that my opinion is invalid because I like this season, regardless of the 1000s of hours I have put into this game, and watched it evolved and change. Just because I'm not top 10 in FNCS doesn't mean I don't have some understanding of the game. I like that big fists go brrrrrrr and cars go pew pew gosh darn it 🤣

My litterely first thought when i saw modded vehicles i was happy and excited to see cars being used for other things, not just driving. The problem being that, they were way to broken, Even for a newbie. Cause all you ever do, is drive a car with mods on or die The fist is hilarious right out the box. While some love and some hate. This season is top tier lol, I’m a sweat and I love this season, the only thing that’s difficult to beat is fists from close range, but it’s not even that bad. Cars are easy to beat in specific situations, like with boogie bombs, cars are not even that overpowered, and they’re very fun to use.
