I was to build a KLE 500 based travel enduro, so I got a GPZ 500 and took the engine, carbs and CDI to transplant. Only to find out that it was too much hastle. The KLE frame I had needed some welding, which I could have done myself but I wasn't in the mood, so the frame went into the trash and now I have a 701 supermoto which I use to travel. The engines are a bit old style with the primary chains, heavy as well, but bullet proof, they go 100 Mm easy. I am happy as the 701 is another league in handling, power and weight.

Appreciate the follow thru on what many would just part with the bike for. It looks well cared for. Glad that it was you who owned it, opposed to a person less gifted. Stay safe.

The service manual makes you do so many more steps than this, your video is going to save me buying a new head gasket to inspect/replace rod bushings and possible a crankshaft. Yes... the manual tells you to remove the cylinder heads completely, it is crazy.

a bit late since you posted this, but now i come in the same situation to change the timing chain on my kle... i wanna ask if you can make a recomandation about some best manufacturers of the chain. thanks!
@CronoCueva Жыл бұрын
No idea sorry, I bought it at a kawasaki store, they only have a closed chain available there, but if you look at other suppliers, you might find an open one, which would make the job much easier.
@alyjohanson5001 Жыл бұрын
@@CronoCueva so, when you change the chain at 63 k km you must change the tensioner and guide chains also, or just the chain will do? thx!

Thanks for the video. I have to replace my transmission due to the front sprocket threading the counter shaft. This video has most of the steps I need to get the job done. My bike has 60,000kms on the clock. do you think I should do the cam chain while I have it apart?

@CronoCueva3 жыл бұрын
Hello, as far as i know, you should never change it if it's not damaged, and if you damage provably it's because you have a serious injury with the camshaft or something, for example, my engine was rebuild years before because of broken valves...

CronoCueva Thanks for your availability, I don't need it right now. How long did the entire process took to you? The liquid gasket avoided completely the need for new regular gaskets? By hte way your english is fine.

Marco Ullasci Almost two days, but it was my first time. Maybe I can do it now in one entire day. And yes, the liquid gasket replace the normal paper gasket, but only with oil and water, no petrol.

hi ,did you have a related vid ,how to remove the starter from a kle 500?
@CronoCueva8 жыл бұрын
+dimo dimi Sorry i don't have it but is really easy, the starter have only two bolts. the problem is that you have to remove also the stator cover, if you don't remove it you won't be able to mount the starter. I recommend you remove the stator cover first because you will understant better how to remove (pull) then the starter. Don't worry for the chain from the starter to the stator, don't have any specific position (obviously). be careful with the oil.
