I am a die hard Red and been going home and away for 30 odd years. I have been fortunate enough to witness some of the best players to ever live in the flesh including Messi, Ronaldo, Fat Ronaldo, Nesta, Maldini, Cannavaro... the list goes on. However, putting my Virgil bias aside, John Terry is the best defender I have ever seen in person. Good with both feet, could ping, brave, strong, great in the air, scored goals, proper leader, proper captain and a serial winner. If there was ever a defender that I wish was a scouser who played for Liverpool it would have been him.

the cole vs robertson debate is hard, robertson did nothing wrong defensively and going forward he’d provide so much, yes cole was better defensively but robertson would only give away 2/3 goals a season from individual errors whereas he’d provide 10 assists a year, cole wouldn’t concede any. It’s similar to trent vs walker, walker wouldn’t make defensive errors but wouldn’t do much going forward, trent would give up a couple goals but assist 15

Evra & Cashley are both the same age and they also both played for ManUtd & Chelsea respectively from 2006 to 2014 and Evra & ManUtd absolutely dominated the PL in that period and Chelski didn't at all they just got 1 fixed PL title in 8years by 1 point after cheating home&away vs the best team again ManUtd who were the better team in those head-to-heads also. Irwin would've been best LB for many PL years, likewise Evra. Evra even got to a champions league final with Monaco funnily enough the same year Cashley only reached the QF with so called invincibles. Cashley never won back-to-back league titles in his career despite playing 14 PL years for strong title chasing clubs etc...Evra easily could've won 7 PL's in a row but he still got 5 in 7 seasons. Evra was a very important player in ManUtd's dominance in the time he played for them and you've got to also take into account no one should've been dominating Chelski during this time Chelski were trying to buy the PL & CL every 1of those years and they just cheated/fluked 1 PL & 1 CL in those 8 years. Cole's best strength he's fast wow so is Evra, Evra was also good defender and I think better at assisting & scoring. Evra & Cashley were both 1 footed so Cashley can't even say he was better in that regard. Evra overall was just better and I don't think his better career than Cole was just a fluke. Also not just Evra & Irwin but most people in general are smarter than AshleyCole who just sounds so dumb. I bet Evra knows how to speak more languages than Cole.
