Your audio sounds great. People sometimes fail to understand when you have a small channel you can't just keep investing more and more money. The KZbin payout if you get paid is very little. I enjoy you just making good down home honest content. I'm not a KLR guy but I just enjoy how you come across as a person. Keep up the good work Dale.

I want to be singletrack and BDR ready, so my essential mods are: flush-mount oil drain plug, skid plate, crash bars, Bark Busters, Tusk footpegs, IMS extended shifter, bar pad, and tank bag. Thr most important is the drain plug; $16 is cheaper than a new crankcase, if the OEM bolt gets sheared. Good videos and good channel; thanks!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us all. With all My videos I always forget to mention the low profile drain plug. I don’t do a ton of OffRoad but it was still my first mod at and early first oil change. Hahah. Thanks again my friend and have a blessed week. Dale.

Thanks for more great content. My list of modifications are: Dirt racks crash bars have taken a beating with no wear! Tusk excursion soft bags for commuting and day trips, Denali license plate turn signal/brake lights for way better visibility/safety at stops. Get out and enjoy on and off road! The klr is amazing at Rolling up rough trails.

I have Tusk up front and dirt racks on the back. I did drop my bike once on the road turning at a light. I went in to buy a 2022 RE Himilayan and rode out on a 2018 KLR that was cherry and modded. I told myself I wouldn't buy another KLR after my 08. I dropped it 3X the first two weeks I owned it. A 29in inseam and KLR is not an ideal match. The new one is about an inch shorter, which is just enough difference to put me on the balls of my feet instead of tippy toes. I vacilated between the Tusk Excursion and Rinowalk 14Lx2ea and just ordeted the Rinowalk.

Thank you for the kind words sir. I will tell you this, I was actually looking at a different color bike,. Since I live here in Texas and being from Oklahoma, I have owned a couple of black bikes and they're really hot in the summer and sunny days. Since the adventure only came in the black color, I had decided prior to the purchase, I would make my own tank bra if you will out of leather. So this is what I came up with. When I initially ordered leather for it, I got enough o make a couple of them and just haven't made another one. I wanted to do Test and make sure it would hole up etc, pro to making it for sale. If I ever do , I will post a video and put it on the website. It is a. large amount of leather and not an easy make, so who knows. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale

I can't claim the mods for my 2018 KLR, but they are great mods. I bought my 2018 in 8/22 with 3402mi with about $3K of mods on the bike, a maintenance journal, original parts, extra parts, and extended warranty. The previous owner had been buying KLRs they came out in 1986, so he had a good idea of the mods he wanted. It has front Tusk crash bars, rear Dirt Racks crash bars, bash plates (engine, rear brake resevior, suspension near swing-arm chain), FMJ exhaust, KLX, mod, Eagle Mike fork brace, after market fender, KLX carb mod, air box and filter mod, low profile magnetic drain plug, progressive fork mod, foot pegs, shift lever, foot brake lever, 14 tooth front spocket with chaim set, Mitas MC24 tires, etc. The bike is a smooth running beast compared to my 08 KLR. I took it up to an indicated 92mph and was acceletating towards 100mph no problem or wobble, except a slight wobble when I chopped the throttle. It cruises 85mph like a kitten. He ran Klotz oil. It doesn't burn any oil on the highway. The progressive fork, fender, exhaust, carb, fork brace, front sprocket, carb, intake, mods together make the bike extremely well handling with noticeably more power over a stock bike. Gas mileage is runs 35-37mpg, but I gladly accept the hit for the additional performance. It came with the KLR branded tank and tail bag. I replaced the tail bag with two stacking storage boxes someone had given me and they have worked out amazingly well. Better than an Apache box could. I also added a 3"x24" PVC tool tube in front of the engine. Moving my tools from the top box to tool tube makes the bike feel even better handling. I just ordered Rinowalk 14Lx2ea panniers, and a pair of 1.5L bicycle frame bags to put inside the front Tusk crash bars. After wear out the Mitas MC24 Invaders, I will be moving to a 50/50 or 60/40 tire. I ride 98/2, but in Florida once you get offroad it is usually sugar sand or mud. Part of me wants the Trailmax Mission for mileage. Part of me wants the Motoz Rallyz or Dualventure for offroad. Part of me wants a Shink 700 for ease of installation and price. I think I have ruled out the Mitas E7+. I've never had the same tire twice in my quest for the perfect unicorn. Thank you very much for the kind words my friend. I can say this, I love this bike, and I have owned a few since the first one back when I was 14, back then you could get a motorcycle license at age 14, and I was blessed to have a Honda XL100 back then top speed sown hill with my all but 90 pounds would do 50. hahah, I always thought it was a hair dangerous as a kid to not be able to do the speed limit. But it was a fun bike. This bike brings back so many of those memories and adventures I had and even more since I can camp off it. Keep us posted on your goals with your bike and thanks for the sub. Thank you for the feed back on the audio, I am trying like crazy. Yes sir, I will say this, I didn't mention it in the video, I do have a set of the tusk brand soft luggage as well. I can say for the money, they are a nice set. It's a long story on the Mosko Moto luggage, but in short at the time I ordered the tusk, my mosko set was missing in action and have now been recovered. The tusk is a hair smaller, however, tons smaller on the price difference. If I had to buy a set now on my income, it would probably me the tusk, I love the mosko moto stuff, but it is premium pricing with it as well. I hope this helps on a possible solution and I should probably do a video on the tusk along with how I had them mounted to the bike. I used them on my trip to the east coast and or both trips last year, with out going back and watching the videos, I don't this I had the mosko back until later in the summer. Again, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale

I replaced the dog bone connectors on the rear suspension on my KLR and it dropped the rear seat height about an inch and a half I had to bend the side stand to get a safe lean angle while on the side stand. The modification made no effect to the handling of the bike but still only made getting on and off the bike only slightly better. I know a lot of riders use the side stand to climb on the bike but I am very heavy and fear breaking the stand off. Im excited to see them bring it to life. I think it will be the perfect bike. Your average rider who is doing basic ADV does not need the ground clearance the KLR has, so an inch less and it opens the doors to so many more riders, I think it's awesome. If I didn't have the one I have, I may well look at it, as I get older, throwing my leg over a tall bikes seems more like a chore haha. FIrst, I will start with this, thank you so much kind sir. I truly appreciate the kind words. Since you asked, I have no intentions of messing with either. I will go onto say, lots of folks do those videos because they will get a ton of reviews. I like to save my money when I can and make adventure videos, even if they won't get the views of some of the mods. I will go onto say, my Gen 2, I bought all the tools and stuff to change it. I cracked the case on that bike with over 10,000 miles, clutch was shot etc. I figure let's do it all. Gen two, the actual doohickey was already upgraded from the previous version and I couldn't tell you if the one that is being sold as the cure all fix all was the same or not, but they looked the same. The spring on the other hand, it is possible, that it could be made better yes, however it was still working as it should. I have seen and heard all the stuff many others have and I have come to this conclusion, I am not messing with it. I would rather go ride. I sure wouldn't do it while the bike was under warranty. You will have infinite adj.from 0=35 lbs.my dealer charged me 34$ each verses $150+ for shorter springs and the trouble putting them in, , just drill and tap, with an air pump,no tool needed.8=10 psi.dont go more than 35 psi, and your seals will be fine !

What are the leather looking accents you have on your gas tank and handle bars?
@Heartlanddualsport
@Heartlanddualsport Жыл бұрын
It is a gas tank cover I made, as well as the bar cover. I have been asked about it quite a bit. I make make a couple of them and try to sell them but for the time being, I am just doing test on mine to make sure it will work out ok prior to trying to sell them. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment and I hope you have a blessed week. Dale

Since I am a shorter dude 5 f 8 would it be better for em to buy the s a d add the adventure stuff to it or buy the adventure a d lower it?

Thank you so much for this question and It may well be a video I will do later on as well. Here is my thoughts. The S from the factory will have the correct geometry. So in short, I know the lowering kits have been around for a really long time. I am not knocking them, I just think there could be some peace of mind knowing it's done eight from the factory and matching the front end with the lowered rear shock. I was not aware you could not get the adventure model in the S series, so that makes it an even more interesting question. I would really have to think about that for a few minutes,, To me the advantage of the adventure series is a sweet spot to be in from the factory as well. I may well do the lowering kit and match the front by adjusting the front end to match. I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment and I hope this helps somewhat. I know in the end you will need to decide what's best for you, and I get it. I wish I had a better answer. Again, I think even if we did a video, there would be some many answers it could still be a potentially tough answer for everyone. Thanks again and I hope you have a blessed weekend. Dale

@@Heartlanddualsport thank you for your reply as of yet there isn't an adventure s. That's why I had the question. Of should I make a s into an adventure set up or lower and adventure. But looking more into it the s may be better because as ya said it's done right from the factory and all geometry is correct. Even if the cost is more to add the lights USB plugs and bags

I pretend to be taller. At 5'8" a KLR hones you balancing skills to be cat like. I dropped my first 08 KLR 3X the first two weeks. I dropped my 2018 one time after about six months. I was getting over confident at lugging the engine a bit to hear the pop of the exhaust and stalled the bike making a righthand turn at a light. I was in 2nd gear and there was a dip in the road so no chance of recovery with a 29in imseam. Thank God for crashbars.

This is what I say that if they complain about you video quality or sound let them buy you the equipment they think you need other than that tell them to go SUCK IT. Now for the luggage I use 3 pelican storm cases model IM2700 for food & cooking equipment I use model IM2400 storm case. On the trails I have hartland soft bags but use the IM2400 for food to keep dry and 1 IM2700 for my tent sleeping bag etc. also to keep dry. I can send pictures of my setup if you want.
