Cummins-Voith geared Olympians (so-called the Tanks) were not allowed to survive until the 18th year and retired on 18 Mar 2009.
Since the introduction of black box to buses from late 2000s, many buses are unable to achieve full speed during a servicing journey. Fortunately, retiring hot dogs like the Tanks had no chance to try such technology. Also thanks to the Voith gear box, drivers had no hessitation in delivering the Tanks' full speed.
Whether or not the bus is quick enough, you'd certainly find how enjoyable a hot-dog trip is.
