Being accused of cheating by Knee must be an amazing ego boost, lol.

It actually wasn't because the accused was in a peculiar situation. He had an old computer he played tekken on which he claimed gave him approximately 4.5 bar connection which he was used to. So when Knee asked to play him offline, he said it needed to be done on his computer which Knee disliked bc he could have macros still installed on it. The accused was also known to get nervous around offline play and have subpar performance so it also made it sus. Adding to that, he also had a bad history of bad mouthing (way worse than trash talking) which didn't help with his overall image. All in all, this incident was a giant shit show where the accused was guilty until proven otherwise.

​@@jhpjhun all things aside, I don't think being bad in offline play should be used as an argument in this case. I play regularly in local offline tournaments and am much more comfortable playing at home online than in an offline event and so I'd probably do better in an online event. Those factors can have a big affect on your game and execution if you're not used to them

If anything. It's kind of also an insult because somebody just has this huge title and reverence and basically says "you aren't a pro. Therefore ur fake." This is the classic IP man scenario.

@@TheWizardofMNT There are only 2 reasons why you are better online than offline. -You're used to playing with lag -or you are nervous with a crowd. Aside from that, there are 0 reasons why you should be worse offline. The only 'thing" (not even a reason) is that people can react better offline than offline, hence you are "worse" offline (or, people are just better0.

@@estoylaroca that's a really good point man. It's definitely the crowd that I'm nervous around. It gets hard for me to tune into the game. I'm working on it though. By trying to attend more offline tourneys in order to get used to playing in that environment. But you are correct, if anything, a person should be able to play better offline due to zero lag. Different story when there's a crowd. It's like the crowd adds the lag and you have to learn how to manage that.

See, the thought of cheating suspicion wouldn't even really be there as much, if Tekken on Steam wasn't so damn easy to cheat, so can you even blame the players? A lot of pros in Korea have encountered cheaters online during their streama over the years, fairly frequently. Knee even actually faced a cheater in an official onlinw tournament before (believe it or not, the cheater beat everyone, while Knee was the only one who actually beat him, but Chanel was watching the gameplay and said something's suspect, and checked the replay/command history, and it proved it was a cheater), that’s how fucking easy it is to cheat in Tekken. So I blame the game and the developers for doing such a poor job on implementing some kind of an anti-cheat system and banning cheaters, hence being suspicious is common on PC Tekken.

@@sunnyerizawaYT I'm korean so i watch Knee's stream a lot, and over the lifespan of Tekken 7 so far, he's encountered soooo many cheaters, it's a fucking joke sometimes. So of course, when some brand new player he's never encountered before pops out of nowhere and starts playing so well, yea it's not out of the ordinary to be suspicious, given just how many cheaters, macro users and save scums he has encountered for the past 6-7 years online. This type of suspicion wouldn't be there if the developers did the better fucking job at banning cheaters smh,

before I write this, I am a Korean and witnessed this whole process of controversy and this controversy isn't completed and going towards the opinion that knee and other pro players were right. reason why opinion has turned is bc: 1.there are multiple weird frame perfect command inputs(4 2 1 rage art) in middle of combos which is hard and just out of the blue he presses the exact same command again 2.wierd statements that doesn't match his play: "I can react to two jab after blocking one jab" "It is possible to avoid Brian's df2 followups without fuzzy guarding" etc then when the opinions have changed these play simply does not happen anymore 3.biggest reason: after the internet community turned against him he ft10ed lowhigh(who was playing Bryan) but lost at the score of 10:5 he did not show his df2 followup guarding and played by relying on okizeme unlike the sharp whiff punish he was accused for. Today he visited an offline gaming place and did not show his usual sharp play as well. He is currently accused of on/off hack(hack that sits high moves). note: this is only the reasons why the opinion of whether of him using hack or not has changed and not the full story. The full controversy went on for 1 month so it's too long to write. also there was a reddit of a Korean who wrote in a way that "real devil is not guilty and pros were wrong" while him being an hack is not confirmed, there are multiple evidences against him. To anybody who wants to check it out themselves knee will be streaming vs real devil offline at 2/28(Korean time) so keep that in mind if you have any questions feel free to leave a reply

You can be a really really good player and still use cheats to get an upper hand. Happens in other games like COD, Apex, street fighter, etc. This Kaz probably toggled his “hacks”.

It is all about context. Perfect guessing with perfect moves at really odd times to be using them. That is one way to spot a cheater. Best way is to bait it out and actually press things to see it respond. You can time things random like a jab at certain ranges, or any unseeable high and witness if they are triggering the macro. The instant ducking is real. Of course people could honestly know the game well enough to only utilize the macro at times when it wont look suspect, but that requires a lot of game sense... so why cheat in the first place? Want to find out they're cheating? Do something and bait the response.

Very interesting, Tekken fundamentally is like boxing, sometimes a fighting style or someone's rhythm can be a bad match up against a specific playstyle , Kaz at his core is a neutral heavy, punishment based character so a player with inhuman speed using Kaz can still be outplayed in a mirror match by an opponent who is more neutral with good observation and punishment skills.

Real_Devil is a high-skill low-budget player. There's a significant amount of players that are decent at skill, but just can't justify the costs to enter and travel to events. It's why locals are SO VITAL to the FGC! Not to mention rollback, which THANK GOD it finally showed up across most of the board. Here's hoping Arika can help find a Tekken solution, too.

I can relate because I get accused of being a cheater all the time when I play Yoshimitsu but the thing is I'm extremely great with movement because I'm left-handed and I use my bat top joystick like a pencil for less tension and less pressure on my hand...So being called a cheater is messed up but it's understandable but personally I think that Kazuya player is a left-handed player too. Kinda similar to my movement input if you can read frames like me tho

Two things can be true. Tekken on PC has issues with cheaters and Knee, along with other top players, have successfully called out and played against cheaters before, so I imagine he simply assumed the player was cheating due to past suspect situations.

After reading the comment by kim sh, I am doubting Real Devil. He said he can't do his online executions at offline meets. Knee should really test him offline. I feel like the real devil mightve bluffed his way through. We know there are hidden good players, but we also know there are good players who still cheat occasionally. Real Devil is not proven guilty nor innocent at this point, but he is still sus. The top players really should test him offline.

It’s crazy watching real devil play. I’m a Kaz main and always had trouble with blocking low pokes. I ended up coming up with the same strategy he uses. I dash low parry a lot to try and beat jabs and low pokes and it works pretty well. My movement is solid enough to get me to the blue ranks (Ryujin) but there’s a lot of people with way better movement.

In tekken 7 there is tournament mode, where i beat the host and he called me cheater and kicked me This game has been around for over 5 years and they never fixed the tournament mode from crashing if ppls left (also decreasing money earned) And somehow host can kick ppls in the middle of tournament lol Tekken probably has the saltiest players ever and beating host is almost guaranteed kick

I don’t agree. I play cheaters every 3 matches on PC. They auto block db+3, or crouching kick, 100%. But this move is unseeable. It’s actually very obvious they are cheating. And on top of that, Tekken is a legacy game, so it is very difficult for new players to match up with Knee. So the odds are not in favour of this player being legitimate.

basically his excuse for not doing tournaments is that Kazuya is not a tournament viable character, and sadly I'm starting to believe thats correct. We have 8 years of evidence at this point. Hes a character with some very strong tools but not the ones required to function against the likes of the current top 10 characters and some glaring weaknesses in the poke and range department while he takes alot of effort competitively. looks like the character is getting a big retool for tekken 8 so hopefully this changes.
