Thanks! I've done a lot of knitting and a lot of beading but have yet to combine the two! I'll try this on my next project. FYI: You can buy a bead reamer. They aren't expensive and you can use it if your bead is too small. Its like a metal file, but its round to fit through bead holes. It files away some of the bead material, widening the hole.

I don't think I would have ever thought of adding beads to one of my projects!

Thanks for sharing! I always thought people just stitched them on afterwards, but wondered if there were other ways to add beads (: Thanks again

Sweet! That method sure beats stringing any day!

Oooh, I like this a lot better than pre-stringing the beads. How about using a needle-threader instead of a crochet hook? (I'm picturing that little cheap flat metal thing with the diamond-shaped wire sticking out of one side)

I am wondering if there is somewhere that tells you what size bead you use for yarn. The seed beads do not seem to go through my yarn

Hi, so i loved this method - thank you. Only thing is that does it add an extra stitch? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? Can i do anything to not add an extra stitch?

This method doesn't add an extra stitch, I'm not sure you that is happening. You're just slipping a bead onto an existing stitch and then working it -- are you maybe making a yarn over?

omg i'm such a buffoon! You know the mistake i made, I inserted the bead but with the stitch STILL on the left needle; and that split the stitch in two, and i added the split part back on the needle and worked both stitches. Can't believe i didn't see the part where i take the stitch OFF the needle!! Just saw the video again after reading your comment and can't believe how i missed that before. Btw, I'm like 40 yo, just learning how to knit (mostly with your videos btw - thank you they are SO great and SO clear) - can't believe how royally i messed this one up - have to rip like 20 rows (each with 200+ stiches) out : - ( But - thank you for your amazing tutorials x

Hee-hee, that's funny. I was trying to figure out where an extra stitch would come from and could only think that somehow you were making a yarn over while fiddling with the bead. Once you hit a certain age, something just happens to the brain. I know if I don't write it down, it's forgotten as soon as I think of it :-) Good luck with your knitting adventures, and thanks for watching!

Sometimes, put the bead on the stitch and then slip it to right needle and knit the next stitch. it seems to make the bead pop out a little more.

I just found your lovely video and have a question. Do you have to have some basic knowledge of crocheting to do this? Thanks!
@iknitwithcatfur10 жыл бұрын
No, you don't need to know a thing about crochet to add beads to your knitting. My crochet skills are very poor, so if I can do it, so can you. Good luck!
