May sound a bit too much but the gap of either a parent is sometimes better than living an entire life witnessing live in a toxic hellhole of seeing your family coming apart and the absolute way one can be a pos to your supposed married partner. Granted you'll never know if its true or not but if he wasn't willing to stay he wouldn't have made a great dad even if he did stayed seeing how he could bail like that.

This song ALWAYS makes me emotional. I went through a very bad period during my second deployment to Iraq and got to the point of self-harm, and this always reminds me of some of my thoughts during that time frame in my life... It ended up with a long struggle that required me to get help, then getting a divorce, then getting custody of my daughter, and finding my current wife, who literally helped to save my life without ever realizing it. This song is cathartic to me in that respect.

@Eric Stanger I survived and I ended up medically chaptered. I still suffer from mild PTSD and have issues with thunderstorms and loud fireworks, but I've been out for 11 years at this point. Most of the extreme stressors for me were related to my ex-wife, honestly, because I was stuck staring at a road for 12+ hours a day, stuck with my thoughts about the fact that my life "back home" at the time was falling apart, but I survived it.

I'm 45 now and this song hits me just as hard as it did when I first heard it. It would hit anyone who has a child and they're a workaholic. Or working hard to try to get ahead of bills. I'm sure a lot of people now are going through this very same thing. Time with your kids as kids you will never get back but it's an impossible feat to choose between paying bills and spending time with your family, knowing as kids they will never understand until they get older.

It's "funny" how life changes your perspective on a multitude of things. I always loved this song (and still do) and can still sing it along with my eyes closed. I had a difficult youth with a lot of bullying, no friends and growing up with 2 parents yet not have parents at the same time. I swore to never become "like them" (my own parents) yet I see more and more of them in who- and how- I am. After the passing of one of my parents, I see them in a completely different light. Now that I'm a father of 2 girls (twins) and a boy myself, I try to give them what I (think/feel) I missed out on. Reflecting back on the past, I sometimes see that things I blamed my parents for are sometimes the best lessons they could have taught me. Maybe the way they where taught could have been different but at the same time I wonder if it then would have had the same impact/effect. When I now listen to this song, a whole bucket of emotions get's dumped on me and I can just not keep it dry anymore, let alone sing along.

Sorry for your loss :( Nice to read about your maturing though. I don't think it's "funny", it's more like necessary. Some lessons take an awful long time to kick in. Your children are lucky to have a father who is striving to be a good and understanding person. Keep it up!

And I know the situation wasn’t the same but I would cry and rap the song so passionately to myself. It felt cathartic…my home life was bad. Just know at the end of the day that if you’re good for your girls and they know that, it’s okay I think. Also the way technology is…it’s not like how it was when this song came out. Late to the party but have been addicted to your channel since stumbling across it. You hit the nail on the head with the Slim Shady reference. I saw in an interview Eminem discussed this song and said not only is it about the struggle of balancing fatherhood and fame but its also where he ends the persona of Slim Shady and puts the mic down on the Slim Shady chapter. Just love Eminem and how he can draw out emotion from his words and story telling. Your reaction tugged at the heart strings Knox. Keep being real and being you! Also you should react to Stronger Than I Was. Another raw song for Em. ❤

You are the most honest and true among all the reaction. I appreciate the way how you see the logic on the rap story and not like others who understood it for someone else or something else that turn it negatively instead of learning and being inspired to.

@@selman1646 100% he listened to every rapper that was considered great though. Hate some love some. But you learn.. It's just weird if a rapper has not heard eminem. That's an accomplishment for every person. I mean how, especially if you a rapper. My father hates rap. He knows eminem though(and likes it). Doesn't mean he can't be great. But I'm having a hard time to believe it.... Reaction videos simply ain't going to get vieuws if he said he listened to it a 1000x. It's like a football player saying he never seen messi. If true its plain weird and a proper mistake

After a touching moment, you should go into something very lyrical, I would recommend the rap he opened the concert I went to of his with, Medicine Man, I will say I’m not a big fan of the chorus or Dr Dre’s verse, it just doesn’t sound like him, but the Eminem verse in my opinion is one of his very best!
