This song ALWAYS makes me emotional. I went through a very bad period during my second deployment to Iraq and got to the point of self-harm, and this always reminds me of some of my thoughts during that time frame in my life... It ended up with a long struggle that required me to get help, then getting a divorce, then getting custody of my daughter, and finding my current wife, who literally helped to save my life without ever realizing it. This song is cathartic to me in that respect.

@Eric Stanger I survived and I ended up medically chaptered. I still suffer from mild PTSD and have issues with thunderstorms and loud fireworks, but I've been out for 11 years at this point. I'm 45 now and this song hits me just as hard as it did when I first heard it. It would hit anyone who has a child and they're a workaholic. Or working hard to try to get ahead of bills. I'm sure a lot of people now are going through this very same thing. Time with your kids as kids you will never get back but it's an impossible feat to choose between paying bills and spending time with your family, knowing as kids they will never understand until they get older.

It's "funny" how life changes your perspective on a multitude of things. I always loved this song (and still do) and can still sing it along with my eyes closed. I had a difficult youth with a lot of bullying, no friends and growing up with 2 parents yet not have parents at the same time. I swore to never become "like them" (my own parents) yet I see more and more of them in who- and how- I am. After the passing of one of my parents, I see them in a completely different light. Now that I'm a father of 2 girls (twins) and a boy myself, I try to give them what I (think/feel) I missed out on. Reflecting back on the past, I sometimes see that things I blamed my parents for are sometimes the best lessons they could have taught me. Maybe the way they where taught could have been different but at the same time I wonder if it then would have had the same impact/effect. When I now listen to this song, a whole bucket of emotions get's dumped on me and I can just not keep it dry anymore, let alone sing along.
@showman8913 жыл бұрын
Sorry for your loss :( Nice to read about your maturing though. I don't think it's "funny", it's more like necessary. Some lessons take an awful long time to kick in. Your children are lucky to have a father who is striving to be a good and understanding person. Keep it up!

I knew as soon as you see how Eminem feels about hayley and the grind it takes to build the life for them but also struggle with having to put time away from the kids to chase their dreams and build a future for their families but they’re human and stressed with pressure to please so many people that this would hit Knox hard. And I know the situation wasn’t the same but I would cry and rap the song so passionately to myself. It felt cathartic…my home life was bad. Just know at the end of the day that if you’re good for your girls and they know that, it’s okay I think. Also the way technology is…it’s not like how it was when this song came out. Respect for you and your daughters, I’m 21 and I have a lil 8 year old sister. I don’t see her often, like I see her barely cause she lives with my dad in another city and there is very little time to visit. That’s why this song makes me think of Naomi, my sister..

I think I get why Eminem hits so hard... He writes about more than just the culture. He writes words that resonate with everyone.

I've heard this song a million times. I've known every single word for years now. But watching your reaction just now, on my 2nd day as your sub, was the very first time that it's ever made me cry 😥😭💔 So thanks for that 😛😜😉

This is probably my favorite Em song. I have about 30and all for different reasons but this has special meaning. The opening gets me everytime! And it still has its doubles!

I totally relate to how this song hits you. I also have twin daughters (now 9 years old) and a son. I had a very demanding job that required many, many hours and travel. But I decided to change some things and now I spend much more time with my kids.

How can you say let's start on a deeper song something special, and your reacting for the first time? Seems like you heard this before 🤔

Ok we know you've heard of Eminem but please only react to songs you haven't heard of. Just because someone is asking you to react to a popular Em song that you have heard of, there really is no point in reacting to it. Reactions need to be genuine, anyway great reaction
