In this series I cover my experience(s) with two PowerBright Pure Sine inverters including unboxing, disassembling, repair, and testing.

I'm want to put a solar system into my 5th wheel for Off the Grid SHTF living. I only have 1 rood air and don't intent to pwr it with solar. But for the rest of the stuff, having changed most all the lights over to 12v LED's the only power draw is a flat screen TV, Sat Box, Desk Top Computer, Micro wave "not used much" maybe that little roof vent with that fan and 3 way fridge. All Total a 2500w should do just find, but I'm gonna get one of the 3600w Tripp Lite inverters. What is your view of the APS3636VR Tripp Lite Inverter?

would you still have that inverter,i have a samlex with the same board. i am seeking some resistance specs for the main mcu smd capacitor ,1uf 50v ,next to the ka7500

nice fix, I am learning a lot from you thanks, im sure i will use some of this in the future.

it would be interesting to swap heat sinks and see if the 1500 will do 2200watts

Knurlgnar, so you replaced the two drive FETs and dtive IC. Before you did that. Was the symtom the input fets would get really hot and pop your 10 amp breaker? Im having the same issue with a samlex pww 2000 12a inverter im fixing for another youtuber.

This video reminded me of a simple technique to bring back into view faded part numbers on components. Dab a bit of thermal compound on the text side of the semiconductor then wipe off. This usually works about 80% of the time.

so are those small transformers suppose to move from side to side in the middle wind. i have a inverter that if you move it back in forth it will go on and off but those transformers are loose.

Yeah, im still trying to repair my 6kW inverter 48 to 220 50Hz. I just wish if someone could give hints. Much time invested. REplaced dead mosftets 6 pieces, then test again, then they died on test, now replaced 6 mosfets again, not testing again haha, until find clue to why these 6 mosftets always blow out.

I can charge with as little as 500 watts But car rejects APC 1500 ups

Always check every component never think is good unless you have tested

Do you know why my APC Inverter1500vVA inverter won't charge my electric car--- any help would be appreciated much--- Thanks. Dan

A car charger generally requires more power than that inverter can output.

Hi I sent you a message, also what part number did you use for the t092 transistor was it a BJT
@knurlgnar2411 жыл бұрын
I thought I responded but I guess it didn't go through. They were BJT. The part numbers I used were KSC2383YTA and KSA1013YBU. Other part numbers would work too, but these were ones I had on hand and are common for low end inverter applications, so I know that they are appropriate for driving FET banks in inverter applications.

Morning, i have power bright aps-1000 pure sine, powers up but no power from 120v outlets, i took it 2 tech and they cant fix it, now i am trying to fix it myself, where is the first place you would you suggest it start? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check for any loose components or broken solder joints on heavy inductors, etc. Then test for shorted transistors. My Whistler repair video has some tips on what to look for.

Dried out electrolytic caps and internal fuse.

I have a bad APS600-24 inverter at home I need to look into. I have worked a lot on switching power supplies and I have found a very common problem is dried out or leaking caps.
@knurlgnar2410 жыл бұрын
I've seen that as a common problem on power supplies, but have not yet seen an inverter with this issue. Why? Perhaps they aren't run continuously as often as AC/DC supplies.

+knurlgnar24 Nice video and repair as always. Did You still have this inverters? Could You make some photos and description of primary side driver ICs? I am really interested how they generate sinewave pwm signal for output mosfets. Cheers!

i work on electronics repairs n mods or build did tv shop for 30 yrs you seem to know your electronics well and neat work i see you got some nice meters back in the day we did it all on 1 meter now its like rocket science iam a big fan of analog its just cool to see something move not fluctuate but the new graph n lcd are cool i say it should have both analog /digital in 1 well good luck on your rebuild inverter nice job

I have a lot of respect for those 'old school' TV repair guys. It's one thing to design, engineer, and produce a product, but it's another to figure out how someone designed the thing, what broke and why, and then repair it.

very true my idear was a power plant for an electric car but its in a smaller prototype now until i see some money to invest but the main part is working when its done it will run as long as u like no gas or recharge it takes care of it thanks to this old timer n got my b day soon yeah iam into building just takes time to match psrts make adjustments

Nice find on the diode! Hope it passes the stress test!
