I watched a document on bulling and 1 in every 10 people at most they said maybe 1 in 100 in South Korea, don't take my word for it, thanks to that show - "The Glory" and what those people did they got off Scott free, no prison time, nothing, 2 of them were off because their families are rich. As they say money talks and bullshit walks. And also if a child commits murder there they don't have jail time, dentation nothing, only a warning and maybe community service for a bit and that's it, also with the R-word is committed the victim is blamed, the cops don't care and say " well what did you do to cause this, or maybe you should not have provoked them,. They are so easily corrupted. It does not go on their record, it's brushed under the rug and if the family is rich or chaebol as they call them then, the victim is blamed and the A-hole gets off free. Check the former member of Big Bang, what he did. He only got 1 year and a half years and his walking free after what he did and is going around Asia performing. Love South Korea, but the law system F-ing sucks.

comment at 6:40 is a really common misconception about how the death penalty works. A life sentence is much cheaper in US prisons than a death penalty case. Because death is final and so extreme there are many protections and chances for retrial and appeal. The average death penalty inmate costs many times more than a life in prison without chance of parole.

I'm with Sang Hee, castration should still be a punishment for sexual assault crimes. It's too sad that Korea has such weak punishments for serious crimes. I remember seeing the case where the little girl was assaulted many years ago, and then I read that the man who committed that crime is already released and living in society. Criminals do not understand the gravity of their actions because of the weakness of the punishment. They will continue to commit those crimes because society will not hold them heavily accountable for what they do. I enjoyed the video!!! It's nice to see other perspectives on things.

The first and the last cases were in Michigan and Michigan has "Truth in sentencing" which means that the first guy got 23 years? He's going to serve every minute of that time. No "good behavior" credits. The last case, life with no parole means just that. You will die in prison. Compared to Korea, I guess our laws are pretty strict.

procuring of lewd exhibition, in the case of an on-duty police officer, refers to forcing someone to strip and then putting his fingers inside the person to "check for drugs" and other such things when 1) there is no reasonable indication that the person has drugs and 2) it's not the police officer's place to do cavity searches. That's the job of a trained medical professional, usually of the same gender/sex as the person being searched.

The 263 year sentence may sound like a lot, but depending on the jurisdiction, prisoners are eligible for parole after serving between ⅓ and ½ of their sentence. However, many with "life" sentences are eligible after 7 years.

Heyo! Just wanted to let you know that prison sentencing in the states is a little complex. It varies state by state but basically most sentences have a 'recommended' year amount by the jury (if it's that kind of trial). The judge then has to look at the applicable statutes to see what the min-max year amount can be applied and if the sentences are consecutive or add on. That's why there is a separate sentencing hearing for that so the judge can review all that info.

I don't know how Korean prisons work but I sure know that there are definitely two types of people that prisoners hate the most: former cops and those who have harmed a child in any way. The latter get dealt with fast and painfully once word spreads and many working in these prisons tend to be a little more "forgetful" when it comes to their job of security and management.

Bullshit. People steal because they consider it easier than working. You can make 100s or 1,000s in less than an hour by theft. And do you ever notice that most people who are poor are that way because they prioritize the absolutely wrong things in life? I constantly see people on welfare who get their nails done professionally every two weeks, $200+ weaves, have expensive mods on old cars, wearing expensive af chains, and are wearing $500+ shoes. Yet their home is falling apart and they have no savings. It's due to financial illiteracy, they were never taught priorities and how to be smart with money. So no, POOR is no reason to steal unless you are at the point of actual homelessness and are stealing FOOD, not things to resell. Also, people commit crimes because they aren't taught empathy and never consider the victims may be barely managing to keep a roof over their head as well. So many people are what is considered "house poor" which is in order to keep their home they have to give up so much other things, even decent food. So they may look "well off" or at least middle class, but are barely holding it together.
