Nu metal is some of the most meaningful metal, bands like Slipknot, linkin park, Korn, Mudvayne, System Of A Down, Disturbed etc. put so much emotion into their music.
@troopergio4 жыл бұрын
@Tane Rameka I consider them to be Nu metal because most of their albums are Nu Metal and they surfaced (No pun intended) in 1999 when Nu Metal was about to reach it's peak (Because in 1999 Incubus put out their album Make Yourself, Woodstock 99 which featured bands like KoRn, Sevendust and Limp Bizkit, Slipknot put out their self title in 99 and one year later Disturbed and Linkin Park would put out their albums known as The Sickness and Hybrid Theory) The band's first three albums had a very obvious Nu Metal sound with all of the guitars being tuned in either D or drop D. Slipknot started getting more into a new sound during the All Hope Is Gone days because they wanted to explore new sounds. I still classify Slipknot as Nu Metal even tho their current music doesn't sound like Nu Metal. It's the same case with Linkin Park and many other bands from that period.
@damonbrown54245 жыл бұрын
It's more or less Nu Metal - which is, at its core, pretty much a hybrid of hip-hop & metal. Even though Korn & SOAD are contemporaries, Korn had much earlier success and are generally seen as 'pioneers' of the genre.

Your peeps are looking out for you by not suggesting Daddy yet. I COMPLETELY agree even though I enjoy the song and promote awareness of its message. But I gotta say being blindsided by that song as a 13 year old greatly upset me to where I couldn’t listen to it again for like 4 years. It’s that harrowing. It’s worth listening to absolutely but it will REALLY affect you to put it lightly. Just a quick heads up though you listened to 3 different songs. Blind ended after he screamed “IM BLIND.” That growling song you heard is called Twist. After it switched back to non growling lyrics that song is called Chi. Blind is from their first album (called Korn). Twist and Chi are the first two songs from their second album: Life is Peachy.

Johnathon Davis, the lead singer, has always said he sees the band as funk-metal, not nu-metal like they were labeled as shortly after breaking through. I get what nu-metal is, and I agree they are that, but to me Davis is right and funk-metal is what they are at their core. Funk includes hip-hop, but is not limited to just that. Korn is an enormous amalgamation of styles and genres. That being said, they're not the typical metal you've probably heard, so funk-metal is the best category to put them in. Great reaction video, thank you, I'm definitely going to have to check more of your channel out.

And kilts are actually quite popular with metalheads, I've seen lots of people wearing them. Metal is a very diverse genre with countless subgenres and lots of crossovers with other genres and sometimes it's pretty difficult to tell what's metal and what isn't. And to be honest, there are plenty of subgenres where growling isn't very common. Some parts of the lyrics don't actually make any sense, they are just noises that he produces with his mouth.
