I love our Navy Federal Credit Union. I've forgotten about things like this and how banks wouldn't respond or make much effort. Don't really use checks znymore, but fraud hsppens and you want the right place holding your money.

This happened to me several years ago they don’t even have to wash checks anymore all they have to do is go to a Office Depot buy some checks put them in the computer and the computer will copy your signature onto the new checks they fill it out inside the computer and it looks like it’s professionally done. Remember this trade has been going on by washing the checks now they make it a lot easier when they sell blank checks so you can fill them out at your office but these criminals have gotten very smart and gotten away with all these crimes thank goodness my bank refund it all the money to me when it happened but this was back in the year 1999 good luck out there God bless you all who are dealing with this situation.✝️✝️✝️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Another advice don't have you're Wifi on your phone when you make online purchases/payments! Turn it off to prevent hackers stealing your account & always close the web page. Also had to deal with sending a cashier's check & it got torn when I mailed it! Not going to use a cashier's check anymore when making an important payment to pay bills. 😖😒

In 2009 I lost my home during the great recession. My Dad had mailed me a check for the mortgage payment and I deposited It. Then the teller told me there was a 2 week DHS hold on it. The mortgage co wouldn't wait. I should've thrown a fit.

People still pay with a check? Get with the times, use electronic transfer and have alerts set on all your accounts to your phone. Also, don't use a debt card, credit cards have more protection.

I work in retail and usually older customers pay with a cheque. It takes forever to process, you need an id, some signatures as opposed to a quick swipe/tap with a phone or card. And all because they don’t trust technology 🙄

You can scribble a signature on the back that doesn't matter.. atm can't verify if a signature is real or not.. you would have to sign the exact same way everytime for the system to verify a signature..

One time my Chase branch in Oak Forest called to ask me if I had bought a boat in Baltimore MD ?!?! with a check for $ 6 thousand dollars !!! obviously I told them no, they told me my account was compromised. They resolved the problem vey efficiently. Since back then I have not used checks to pay absolutely nothing, all my payments are now electronic from Chase's web site the safest way, recommendable.

For starters, no one should even have 6200 dollars in a checking account. Also, no one should be writing checks at all. Anytime you write a person or business a check, any dufus employee can glance at the account number and right away use that to purchase anything off of the internet. When you hand a persona paper check all the account number is there and is same as giving someone your 16 digit CC number, and is even worse in the way that the CC requires the three digit code as to where the checking number doesnt require it.
