That is not a barn. It’s a piece of art! Must be really satisfying every time you fit multiple pieces together. Well done, sir.

Agreed. Love the way that looks. It's notable (and impressive) that you took design ideas from the Howard early on in the process. I've always enjoyed working with craftsmen who take such pride in their quality work. Inspiring. Good on you! 😃

What you have accomplished in the past few years, especially without training in the crafts you master so artfully, is astounding. You are definitely leaving a legacy behind. One day, when you have children, they can say that their Dad built the Family Farm from the ground up.

So much more exciting for us viewers to marvel at you raising your barn in one month with only the help of Sam and Ben, assisted by a 'Roman catapult' contraption, than watching a giant, boring, diesel-operated forklift and a team of twelve guys doing all the work in three days! And obviously way less stress and way more pleasure for you too 👏

What's great about this build is, apart from Kris using a Land Rover as anchorage and a few other bits of modern kit, this is exactly how a timber barn would have been built in centuries past - real testament to going back to the old ways, doing it properly and making a really good job of it, and the best think of all, the average age of the participants is probably around 30. I hope these skills get passed on for many more generations.

This episode of the barn build really showcased your editing skills, the value of a drone for filming and the skill of the drone pilot, Dot, with her impeccable shot selections. I particularly appreciated the filming of the third section because it focused on the intricacies of pushing the pieces into place with ratchet straps and pounding. Really marvelous to watch!

On a traditional rafter ye'd call it a bird's mouth, or bird's beak. A natural reference that pleases me. That is quite a lifting contraption. All the years i have in construction; Timber, steel.... I hold my breath each time I watch DIY rigging .... You have to think, "you're already in deep financially" and have previously rent equipment. renting a tele-handler or Sky-track... can make it that much easier and safer .. for your next project at least consider "choking". You know your finished materials.. all you need to learn is deflection and you could swing those wall in a few mins. with the right equipment... Kris, I am completely impressed with your design and the wood works. I have witnessed near misses and the aftermath of rigging gone wrong.. Thank God no one was k*lled. I have even suffered the same set backs from weather, and poor quality materials.

Watching this build particularly makes me think of our predecessors, and how they would have achieved similar buildings without the benefit of modern tools. Yet again I hadn't thought about the mammoth task of lifting - I suppose it would have (for the larger structures at least) needed horses/oxen and many hands, not to mention strong ropes and pulleys. It lends a whole new dimension to the wonder of old barns, churches, cathedrals, even back to the lifting of say Stonehenge, still a mystery to this day.
