You handled that wonderfully. I have trouble controlling my emotions. I get so angry when I politely tell people that I'm training and they still won't get their own dog under control. That man should've called his dog away.

This is ridiculously helpful. My dog gets nervous around barking dogs and our neighbors just got a new(loud) dog. She honestly doesn't seem to care about dogs until the come up and bother her. I don't think she was socialized as a pup so now she doesn't like to play with dogs and just gets mad when she is bugged by them. I want to start this training with her so maybe she will feel better with other dogs around.

Thanks for all your videos, Kris! I just got a BC pup 2 weeks ago and Luna is an inspiration for my Roma.

That's awesome, Kris! Your videos are getting better everyday. I started with a client with a very similar case last week.

The thing is...: In other situations "ears down" can mean "I don't want to show agression, I am friendly" trying to approach a dog peacfully. The signs can be red depending on the situation

Hi, I have a question for you; but first let me say that I. have not watched all of the videos on Luna's recovery, so I may be jumping the gun here. Forgive me if I am... Thanks! My question evolves around your Continual reward every time Luna comes to you, when she shows signs of apprehension. Do you not think that Luna could be learning Another, perhaps even less desirable trait, for getting rewarded? Dogs are quick to learn, and what I see here, is Luna [also] learning that, when she lowers her ears she gets rewarded; and I caught that when I seen her lower her ears and immediately look up for a treat, before she even walked away with you. I genuinely hope to hear your response.

so did that guy have a clue what was going on? what did you say to him. I always feel weird about what to say to people who are clueless about their own dogs.
@Krissykris146810 жыл бұрын
YES, he had a clue. Right away when he asked about the camera I told him that Luna was being rehabilitated around strange dogs. HENSE why you see me deterring the dog away from Luna with food, better the dog beg for food from me then go over to Luna to say hi - I can control the dog if he's near me compared to Luna. Tough situation for the dog and owner, lol.

I assume he did nothing because he assumed you desired that sort of scenario in your training, haha!

As always I'm impressed by how well you read your dog. As for the confrontation, even though you made sure to give the treat to the dog after he stopped standing on you, i personally think that you "enhanced" this behavior by the timing of your treats. To me it looks like the dog first only wanted attention (like every dog that does this), but then you gave her (?) a treat for it, and confirmed it right after. I understand your intention of giving her a treat after standing down and confirming that action, but i don't think it worked out this way. From the dog's perspective i think she understood that she would get a treat every time he did it. I might be wrong though. What do you think?

So he knew the whole time you were trying to help Luna and never called his dog away?

Luna was so well behaved my dog would have been lunging and snapping at that pug

People and their wonderful off leash dogs. Poor Luna! I was wondering if the pug owner was ever going to get a clue.. Sigh.
