I haven't been married very long (3 years in December) and it has been hard. I was about 6 months pregnant right before the world went crazy in March. I was up at Walmart in the middle of the night after a fight with my husband and he pulled in and got out with another woman. He insists they were only friends. I was gone for like a month. I only came back for the baby though. Things are still shaky, but hopefully will be better again some day. I did see something recently that I try to keep in mind- your vows are most important when they are hardest to keep. Good luck!

Sad to say but I had an ex BF beat me once for not cooking pinto beans like his mom. So I did get her to teach me and this was after I left him on the curb, lol. I wash them 2 times in warm water. Put into the pot and add water about 1 inch from top of the pot. Then boil on high until half of the water has reduced. Then add the same amount of water let it come to a boil, adding pork jowl, salt and pepper then place on medium until about 1 quarter of the water has reduced and the bean juice is thick. They are soo good. Glad all getting better for you and hubby. Blessings for continued love and faith!! Marilyn.

To make the dry beans "out-standing" beans use a ham bone. I am a lucky woman a Honey Baked Ham store is in the same mall our grocery store is located in. They sell the bones almost dirt cheap with a lot of really good ham still on the bone. I buy a couple and keep them in my deep freezer all the time. I usually take a lot of the ham off the bone for another meal (we love to make scalloped potatoes with ham) and then soak those beans over night. (even using the instant-pot) and cook a few extra beans. Then to thicken the beans before serving just pull a few beans out (I usually do about a cup) and mash them up and add back to the pot. Stir and it will thicken the beans. I am a 69 yr old grandma and I was a home-ec major in college. I cook a lot.

What I like about your presentation of your recipes is they are short, sweet, and to the point. You don't feel you have to hog the camera, or go on and on about other things. The camera is on the food presentation only. I do get tired of some presenters who feel the camera must be on them most of the time, and have endless talking of other things than the recipe . When you’re making the white sauce, turn off the heat once you have your “roux” before adding your liquid. It won’t thicken when you do that.

That whole "nice country wife that should be home and in the kitchen, raising the children" mentality gets really old if you don't want that too. I have missed your videos, glad you're back! I couldn't help but wave back when your little girl waved at the camera. My husband and I are about to celebrate 40 years together, we were 17 and 18 when we were first married, ( not something I would ever recommend.) Notice I said "first married", a lot has happened in those 40 years, including not one, but TWO divorces! Marriage is HARD, glad you're working on yours. Staying home with your kids is the best gift you can give them, I believe. With a stay at home mother, you may not always be able to afford the "extras" such as expensive vacations, horseback riding lessons, etc but they will always remember you being available when they needed or wanted their mom. I wish it had been an option for me to stay home with mine. If I could have a "do over", that is the main thing I would change about raising my kids. Prayers for you and your family!
