Hey girl the quickest way for me to remove the seeds and ribs of a jalapeño is actually with a spoon. You just drag it over and it pulls the seeds and ribs right out :)

We make the jalapeño popper grilled cheese FREQUENTLY in our house! To make it easier we just buy the little tub of jalapeño cream cheese the Philadelphia brand. It is so good!! Definitely one of our favorite easy meals!

When making breakfast gravy. You can also use half water half milk you can use e vapor after milk and regular milk or evaporated milk and water. With the price of everything right now, try to find ways to stretch what you have. I’ve started using evaporated milk and powdered milk to cook with. Used evaporated milk to make cornbread the other day and it was the best cornbread I’ve ever made.

My husband does the same thing with his breakfast food! lol I make the sub in a tub but we call it grinder salad. I mix the mayo with the sub dressing, red wine vinegar, garlic puree, oregano or italian seasoning all together and then mix it with the shredded lettuce. I heat the meat and cheese a little bit and then add it all together. I eat it as a salad or on a low carb wrap and then grilled on each side. SO GOOD!

Try using Italian pork or turkey sausage (remove the casing) in lasagna soup. I’m kind of the same about Italian seasoning. Dried thyme and rosemary can be really strong. Often I’ll just use a teaspoon or so of dried oregano instead.

The lasagna soup recipe I love has sausage instead of beef and I think the thing that really makes It yummy is fire roasted canned tomatoes and letting the tomato paste cook and change color to more of a rust color. I also always season the ricotta and I always skip Italian seasoning and just add some I know I like. I bet if you try making it another time and adjust a few things you will love It. 😊

Hey Kristin I have an question? The subs in a tub is such a great idea I absolutely love that. My daughters work is looking for like 5 different Inexpensive food theme days for like 65 people any ideas I was thinking the sub in a tub but how much you think that would run for that amount of people?
@KristinStepp

I’m not sure about the cost but deli meat is expensive right now unless you can catch it on sale. My first thought as an idea would be a baked pasta like lasagna or spaghetti with salad and garlic bread. That meal can really stretch and be pretty inexpensive. Or chili!

Italian seasoning mix is very strong. Sticking to just oregano and basil would work out much better for you, a half tbsp or even a little less would've been ideal. I make sauce all the time, but the idea for a lasagna soup sounds absolutely wonderful. I will definitely be making this very soon. For the sausage gravy, my favorite hack is to buy the shelf stable quart of milk from the dollar store. It's just the right amount of milk for the recipe, and since it's shelf stable, it's already at room temperature so you can put warm milk into the recipe instead of cold. The meal cooks up so much quicker this way and is not only a time saver but it costs less energy wise to cook. Milk is around $5 a gallon where I live so I'm not actually paying more for the shelf stable option. I do the same with ground beef. Sometimes I cook it real thick and make cream versions of sloppy joes on roll. Killer sandwich, believe it or not. Pairing an antipasto with the French bread pizza is a great meal. I like giving the salami a quick heat in a pan after cooking my eggs (10-15 seconds tops) and making a breakfast sandwich. You'd be surprised how the flavor of salami changes with just a quick cook. These are some pretty nice ideas you've got and I will definitely try that lasagna soup.

Some great ideas. I especially liked the breakfast bowl and grilled cheese idea. I so prefer spaghetti over lasagna that I never make lasagna and despite the people who are making it, I wouldn't want it as a soup. If someone else made it or it was an option at a restaurant would I turn it down? No. But I am not going to rush to make it. I think part of it is I like straight spaghetti sauce and not having it creamed up with ricotta, cream cheese nor any other milk product. I can eat a creamy tomato soup but I don't want that on my pasta. Give me bolognese any day. :)

As soon as I saw you add a whole T of Italian I was like “Nooooo!” I feel like some recipes call for SO much. I like to add it 1/4 t at a time and taste as I go because I feel the same as you and hate when it’s the dominant flavor.
