Friends the last few days have been rough for me but your support on my community post has been nothing short of overwhelming. I didn’t film anything yesterday and for me that is very odd! In order to keep my creative juices flowing and maintain the posting schedule here I film every single day, even on weekends. I needed a break. Yesterday my hubs and I celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary and I was able to relax and just focus on our crazy little family. But throughout the day I read your hundreds of comments, how this channel has changed your life, your art, your outlook. And so I realize or I’m starting to realize that my post yesterday was too much about me. This channel isn’t about me, it’s about you. God put me here to help you…to give you an artful story to tell. And so know this… I’m here for you whether you ever buy something I offer or not. I sell a lot of stuff, yup, but I started sharing my painting passion here 7 years ago (omgosh) when I sold NOTHING, because I felt a tug in my soul to teach. That core value of mine remains. I just want to teach you to chase joy. I’m here for you even when I’m super behind on replying to emails and comments. Know that I read everything and plan all my content based on your questions, concerns, and frustrations. I’m here for you when my creative wildness leaves you confused or conflicted. Just ask me. I’m here for you. And I thank you for being here for me when I was feeling a bit defeated. Your grateful voices drown out the loud minority here.

Happy Anniversary!❤️ It is so nice to see people stay married for so long it’s not always easy but it’s very rewarding! My husband and I will be celebrating 34 years in July! I’ve been following you since you sold your first painting book! And hope to be getting your new one soon! You are super uplifting and inspiring! You’ve given me hope that I’m not too old to still have dreams I’d like to accomplish in life! I love your Empathetic, Wild, Brave and Courageous Heart!❤️ It takes A lot of bravery to accomplish the things you have done and are doing! Keep it up! And keep your chin up!❤️ Hugs!❤️

I hope you don’t feel ashamed of having that more about you than everyone else moment! You are important! You should definitely have those times when things are all about you. You have a lot of empathy for others, and that’s great! But that means you need to really work to make sure you take care of yourself too! Make sure you take some time for self reflection. If you’re having trouble trying to take care of yourself, just pretend you’re looking at someone else. How would you help someone who was going through the same troubles you’re feeling? Do what makes you happy! I mean art for joy’s sake is your whole thing, right? Make sure you get some joy from your work! If there’s not joy in it, then you might want to take a step back and see what is holding you back. I’m glad you got some time to yourself! Happy Anniversary!

Kristy, 1st off, happy belated anniversary to you and your husband! I hate that someone's negative comments put you in a funk. Constructive criticism is one thing, but being blatantly rude or insulting is another. I love your upbeat, cheerful enthusiasm as you paint. Some people need to remember to treat others how they'd like to be treated and if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Keep up the great work that you do! ;)

Hey Kristy, I know you had a bout of backlash recently, and something you said in your response stuck with me and I wanted to share. You mentioned something like, "I'm a classically trained painter that forged my own path using funky techniques." As a self-taught artist, I have always felt insecure, like my own offbeat and funky style are in some way inferior to those employed by classically trained artists. Your art is important to me; the way you paint is validating to me, and I'm sure to many other self-taught painters as well.
@KristyRice2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you sharing so much. I too have always fought feeling inferior to those who found their joy in ultra realism and following all the rules. I still do! I remember my childhood art teacher (super traditional and classic artist) encouraging my bravery, my wildness at a young age and I’m so grateful for her!!

oh my, every video I watch, I learn something wonderful and creates an epiphany for me, on top of that it quells the naysayer in me that says "I can't ".. but I can.. and I've learned to embrace the mistakes cos I work them out and they become wondrous! I am still working out water to paint ratio that works for me, but the process is no longer frustrating! I was about to just give up. Your JOY and enthusiasm pulled me in and cleared my no can do mentality! To the BULLIES AND IGNORAMOUSES (go ahead look that up jackwagons, I'll wait) you are so green with envy and Hate that I feel so very sorry that you lost your soul and you must vent on an angel like Kristy. I pray for what's left of your spirit to be reconciled in love and Divine understanding and may the God of Abraham show mercy and light upon you !!! Amen

Your joy is contagious, never forget that what you do is important, it has value, to even a struggling single mom like myself. I love mixed media, and new ideas. So please don't stop sharing them regardless of how crazy or outrageous they may seem. I want to see them. It helps me to decide if that particular technique or product is for me. So thank you for for sharing all that you do. As artists we should all be supporting eachother in positive way, like you do. You are a shining example of how art brings a s creates joy.

So fun! "Color where color doesn't make sense" YES!! One of the most fun and useful things I've learned from watching you. It really opens you up to such a beautiful, loose style of painting and makes the experience much more relaxing and fun. I'm honestly shocked at some of the beautiful leaves I've created with this magical technique. The 10 watercolor leaves video is also a super helpful exercise that I would encourage anyone to watch. Glad to hear you're feeling better and hopefully focusing on all the positive feedback, appreciate you putting your art and teaching skills out here for all of us to enjoy and learn from. xo

I've been challenging myself to use a very limited palette so I have to mix all greens, I love these leaves, gives me more ways to use my new color mixing skills! And I've always been a die hard round brush gal, but your 1/4" is the one I reach for most now!
