Remember, surgical pain has an end to it. My friend had stage 4 colon cancer at age 40, metastasized to her liver. I had no hope for her, but she is now 70 years old and leads a full life. Hugs to both of you

I'm on a parallel path to you Jessica (I am 43 and diagnosed with high grade serous OC in July) and I think this is very good news. I had complete debulking surgery at MSK-Stage IV, but they were able to get everything out. My understanding is generally they proceed with surgery if they think they can get all or most of it. It is a big surgery, a little scary, and recovery has taken patience but progress has been steady. I'm still making my way through chemo. Thank you for sharing your journey so openly, it has helped me feel less alone.

Jessica, I believe surgery is a positive step forward! I also had surgeries for Ovarian cancer. I was uncertain going in, but surprisingly relieved once they were done. Sounds hopeful to me! As someone who went through cancer a few years ago and came out of the very surreal experience that cancer puts you through and was 'cured' (a word my doctor even used!), I always felt, if there were options, there was hope. Your doctors definitely seem to feel they have options in your case! Lots of respect for you both and how you are documenting this and handling it all. I am sure there will be many you are helping by honestly sharing your journey and it will give them the courage to face their own experience.

I think this is a positive thing, Jessica. I was diagnosed with OC last year. My gyn onc went in and did my debulking surgery first. Total hysterectomy and removal of the tumors, then I went through five months of debilitating chemo. After a CT and pet scan, I am cancer free, thank God, and have been for over a year now. I still go in every three months for my CA-125 blood test and doctor’s appointment, but it is necessary to keep on top of everything. You can do this. Just believe and trust in God that everything is going to be okay.

I realize that you may not be doing cartwheels, but this sounds so promising. I'm excited for you. All the best. Different set of circumstances, but my dad had a 5+hour craniotomy at age 86. Not even the neurosurgeon thought he'd get through it. I'll never forget the neurosurgeon's face at the conclusion of the procedure...when he came out to speak with my mom and I. The doctor put his hand on his head and said, "He did great." All of us were in disbelief. My dad lived into his 90's. Quality of life was excellent. You just never know. Go into this believing you'll come out the other end of this better than you are now.

My mom had an aggressive form of breast cancer and went through chemo/radiation planning for her surgery. They went in to do a lumpectomy and the tumor was completely gone even though it was visible just prior to her surgery. They did remove a few lymph nodes because it had spread. That was four years ago and she's doing very well. Miracles happen!!!!!

In the middle of a breast cancer fight right now. Chemo ended on 9/1 and I'm 5 weeks post surgery. 6 weeks of radiation starts on 11/30. I got my eyebrows and eyelashes back 2 or 3 weeks ago, and my hair is just starting to come back in now. Like other posters have commented, they would not be doing the surgery if they had no hope, so this is a GOOD thing. Stay strong and keep fighting. You're an inspiration for all of us!! 💞💕

My cousin’s son had a debulking and when the surgeon went in, there was only scar tissue. I know it was a different kind of cancer, but it was unexpected and positive news. Anything’s possible!! Hang in there❤️

From what I hear in your videos, you are doing everything you can do - being a good patient, but being proactive on your own part. Brian is doing everything he can possibly do - giving you encouragement, having your back and feeding you the most nourishing food that he can provide. You are taking care of you! Now, the doctors with their review boards are not just relying on their own capabilities, but calling in other specialists to advise them. The biggest part is worry over what everybody does not know. I think the further surgery is necessary to get more information. They will know more after that. I hope the results will lead to a definite path to follow as you travel through this. I had a total hysterectomy in 2015. Although the cancer was confined to the uterine lining alone, they took everything to prevent the possibility of metastasis. For that I am grateful! I'm very encouraged by your diagnosis. The fact that the cancer has NOT metastasized after all this time is awesome news! it. Even if the doctors advise to remove part of your liver...it will grow back. We are truly "fearfully and wonderfully made"! You and Brian go celebrate this news.

I also had endometrial cancer that resulted in total hysterectomy. In the six years since I have had multiple episodes of vaginal bleeding, which led to more biopsies. So far the results are in my favour. Wishing you all the best outcomes too, Jessica!

I hope the surgery is successful 🙏 My mentally and physically challenged brother was born with a hole in his heart 64 years ago. Had osteomyelitis in his leg bone when he was seven. Had diverticulitis and had surgery and wore the "bag" for several weeks. Diagnosed with testicular cancer that spread to many lymph nodes. He really suffered through the surgery and chemo. He had sores in his mouth and could not eat. Another life-saving surgery through his back. It worked! He was 42 the last time he had the surgery. He still has his port, but no more cancer at 64! I am praying for your full recovery! I would like this same success for you, too!

It also sounds like they want to get a visual to see where these small spots are. And if they see them, they intend to get them. Sounds like they have your best interest in mind and want to do their best to get anything they can see. My mom had this done twice. Recovery was painful, but worth it. I'm so glad you're feeling hope. My cousin had OV and had very poor treatment with the worst outcome. I'll tell you a little story. When I was going through stage 4 breast cancer surgery (mastectomy, chemo, radio, bone marrow transplant) Olivia Newton John was diagnosed with breast cancer and had breast conserving cancer ie: they did the excision around the cancer they could see. It was done in Melbourne so very much in the Australian media. My Sydney surgeon and I discussed it and he said her cancer would return and he was sorry to say he thought she would die younger than was necessary because she hadn't had a mastectomy (this breast conserving surgery was offered to me by a different surgeon, and thank God my instinct was to get another opinion). I felt very sad when she died recently and had never forgotten what my wonderful surgeon had saidt

Surgery is very VERY good news - and having had a complete oopho hysterectomy with omentum (tummy fat flap) removal for endometroid ovarian cancer I can say from experience that the relief following it getting done and getting the damn stuff out, makes the recovery not nearly as challenging as I expected and hopefully it will feel the same for you. My surgery was delayed 3 months as the tumour had caused blood clots in legs and lungs so they had to get that sorted first. It’s great, they are treating you not just managing you. 👍👍👍💐💐💐

@Shetland Sheep @Krocks in the Kitchen This sounds very similar to my diagnosis and surgeries back in 2010/11, interspersed with 6 months of Taxol Carbo chemotherapy. I too had two DVTs, caused through the sheer mass of my endometroid ovarian tumour, plus a pleural effusion. I had to have Heparin injections (shots) plus an inferior Vena Cava filter inserted prior to my first emergency surgery, to trap any clots that could have travelled to my heart/lungs/brain. I had 12.5 litres (nearly 22pints) of fluid drained from my abdomen during my first surgery - debulking hysterectomy/oophorectomy. Following histology, it was discovered that I also had endometrial carcinoma, so my MDT (multi-disciplinary team), similar to your tumour panel, decided on a second surgery to remove my cervix (which had to be left in situ during my first surgery because of complications) following the planned chemotherapy. I’m now 12 years down the road, which has been rocky at times, but Jessica and Brian, there is hope … positivity and faith is key … sending much love from the UK. ❤️❤️❤️xxx

It wasn’t fun, but it was totally manageable, and I’m a much bigger wooss than you are. I’ve been following your story as I too was diagnosed with cancer in March this year. Stage 3c ovarian cancer, but I am 65 years old. My heart breaks knowing how young you are to have your future change in a moment. When you share your feelings, I can so relate yet not because of our age difference. My case is straight forward unlike yours. I found out because I had fluid (ascitesj causing horrible pain in my abdomen that had to be drained multiple times until the second chemo treatment reduced it. This fluid was filled with cancer cells which bathed my peritoneal cavity possibly leaving cells for future growth. I did have a couple of very small spots that have shrunk with chemo based on the 3 follow up CAT scans. I was amazed when you said that your CA 125 came back normal. Mine was over 1600 originally and after my 9th chemo is now in the normal range (29j. I’m elated. I am on the same chemo drugs as you as well as avastin at my 6th chemo and after. I also get a shot to increase my bone marrow production of infection fighting cells. I had a total hysterectomy (July 11th 2022) and omentum removal and debulking 4 weeks after my 4th infusion. I was very frightened for complications and pain but despite the long incision, I felt it was much easier then I expected. I wish the same for you. have had 2 cesarean surgeries and this was comparable. It helped that we purchased an electric recliner and my husband placed a bar near the shower and toilet to help me pull up. Also having the 8 week break from chemo gave me energy to recuperate and convince me that I will feel more normal again. I hope u experience that same feeling and thoughts. My doctor did increase the number of further infusions after my surgery. Originally it was 8 but he increased to 10 just as precaution against the fluid that was originally found. Like you, I just wanted surgery, like you, to have a better chance at life. Today I just finished my 10th and last chemo (hopefully). These last 3 really have drained me but I know after one more post chemo week to ten days I will start to feel stronger. Then another cat scan and discussion of maintenance treatment. As you know…one step at a time. Your mind can’t handle too much at one time. I just want to assure you that it is amazing how fast your body can heal. I know your initial surgery was tough but you were suffering terribly with that mass on your ureter. Hopefully this time your healing will be easier. Thank you for sharing your story. You and Brian are a strong couple and are helping so many of us going thru similar circumstances. My heart and positive thoughts are with you. ❤️

I’m in a similar situation. Despite my fears of getting my stomach opened all the way down, surgery was a breeze. Just take some small cans of prune juice with you for constipation. Ask the nurse to heat one up and drink it first thing in the a.m. , wait a half hour, then heat and drink the second one. Before surgery, I ordered a really comfy Golden Twilight electric lift chair and it’s the best. Super comfy and it even sleeps as comfortably as my bed.

Yes laxatives and prunes were a help and I love my recliner. A lift chair would have been an added bonus. After 10 chemo treatments, my strength is low and I would benefit from the lift now. Best to you on your healing journey. We can beat this.

Jessica and Brian, I had a friend in high school that's father was diagnosed with cancer (unsure of what kind), he was given little hope of surviving 3 months. My friends family moved to Virgina to be close to family. He had what was called at the time a whipple procedure. They removed everything possible and as much of the cancer as possible. My friends father recovered and started his own business. My father died at 79 and my mother at 87, my friends father outlived most of his friends and family. He had said he wanted to see at least one of his children graduate from high school. He saw grand children graduate from college. I am praying you and Brian will be given strength and peace during this time.

It’s a blessing to have such a good team working on your case!! You’re off the book as you say so it’s perfect they’re going off the book for you!!! Let’s get it OUT and get rid of any there and keep you moving on in your beautiful path. It’s intense surgery but you’re an amazing spirit and let’s all visualize you healing well and quickly. I always have myself and clients look out 3 weeks from the surgery date and see themselves healed a lot and it helps our subconscious know we’re going to heal and work towards that as well. As hard as this is to hear and go thru on your part. This is a blessing. As a retired nurse finding the cause and answer is so important. This is positive! The post op pain can be treated and gets better very quickly. Stay positive. You both are so supportive of each other. Thank you for not being afraid to share. Prayers for you Jessica. These times are so crazy. When the doctors look to see if cancer exists in that particular area. And the doctors can see the cancer by looking inside the body, and tell you it spread. I think they want to be certain what is going on with the cancer. I think things sound good, it looks like they are doing prevention measures. My uncle had got pancreatic cancer and he had to do surgery, and the doctors said the cancer had spread too much. He got sick in June with flu like symptoms. They did the surgery in September and said they he would die. Most the doctors will tell you straight.

I had a six hour hysterectomy at a specialist in endometriosis in Milwaukee. He removed all the adhesions and microscopic endo as well. To recover enough to fly home to Wyoming, we got an extended stay hotel. I took my champion juicer and juiced multiple times a day ( this was in early 2000’s). I believe it aided in my recovery! The recovery wasn’t so bad, praying you’ll sail through it!

Everyone is right. They don’t do surgery unless they think it’s a tool for getting the cancer. I’ve had three surgeries two abdominal- you’ll do great.

I have no background in medicine but this does sound really hopeful. It sounded before like they were almost looking at palliative care. This sounds like there could be a cure. I think that’s wonderful! Sweet girl you’ve got this. You’re surrounded by so much love and hope and light. By the way, I love that Peef is right there with you. In 2017 I was told I had Uterine cancer. I was 48 so the plan was surgery to take my uterus, ovaries, cervix and all lymph nodes surrounding those organs. Before surgery I was on a lot of prayer list. I had the surgery Valentines Day in 2017. The pathology reports came back no sign of cancer anywhere. I never had chemo or radiation leading up to surgery. So it is very possible they will find no signs of cancer. Many prayers for you
