I have to say that I've watched every one of your videos and I truly can see that Jessica is more relaxed and often downright playful sometimes than ever before. Its great to see that transition or revealing of what I think she's been all along but hasn't let it show much. It's very endearing.

I really appreciate the sensitivity with which you began the video. Thanks for that. I’ve instituted lots of new habits during this time, and I think it’s given me the space and quiet to reflect on my life in a way that I wouldn’t otherwise do. I have had some powerful insights.

You guys always seem so empathetically sensitive to all situations outside your own life experience. I wish more people could be this way. I like that you mentioned the current situation at the onset. Also, I like that you mentioned parents who've have kids (invade) come home to complete their school years. Thank goodness each of my three kids have their own rooms (cell) and their own computers and we have really great internet service. Some people I know are sharing rooms and sharing computers, or sending their kids out of state to live with Grandma. I have three children; one that graduated college, one that graduated high school, and one that completed elementary school during this pandemic. It happened so suddenly and abruptly that none of them even knew that it would be the last day they got to see their friends (in some cases forever). That's not too mention three missed graduation/promotion ceremonies, senior orchestra trip, prom, all the graduation parties, church dinners, band breakfasts, etc. It's been a really stressful time. But, I have to say since they've been forced together over the last several months, the silver lining is that we all seem to get along much better now than before and have learned to cooperate and give each other space when needed. We're coming to the end of this now, and at first I was dreading having to be isolated, but now I find myself appreciating the time with my kids and realize our lives are about to change in big ways and will never be quite the same again.

Hooray for you, especially Brian, I share how good it is to get out into the "Windblown Sunbeams" (my fave whimsical description) and give some co2 back to the foliage in gratitude for the oxy they're giving me! Brian talking about the kitchen accident triggered memories of my childhood of me being subjected to my mothers ranting and yelling if things went wrong and also trying to shield my siblings from her anger. I still get anxiety from just hearing a vacuum cleaner and my even husband raising his voice at me is out of the question. That simply cannot happen and he knows it. I too have the anger inside me but I don't want to be like that so I've worked a lot over the years with not coping with life by getting angry, at least not directed towards other people. It's tough but it can be done. So glad to hear about your progress, Jessica!

One of the most stated things that breaks up a relationship is communication, or lack thereof. I know I have left relationships because of what I believe to be lack of communication, and I notice that my communication style has changed over the years. Our country has a lot of communication problems, for sure, so we have a long way to go to get it all said, and find some kind of bridge that we all can stand on. All this divides us into factions that leads to justifying murder. Valuing each other is something that has to be a priority for us, in all we do and believe. I know that I have disdain for people I feel in my soul are wrong thinking, so I am part of the problem, if I take my own advise and become a better communicator. Something to think about. Thanks for the video. Love you guys.

What I've found the longer I am plant-based is digestion is so much better and I am sleeping better. I've always been a nervous person, always had trouble sleeping. What I think what was going on in my youth was I had been often on serious antibiotics for tonsillitis, strep throat and pneumonia, so the microbes in my gut were just devastated most of my life and eating meat for so many years did not help. Our gut is supposed to make serotonin and mine was just not doing what it should. With plant-based, I am so much calmer, and I think the production of serotonin keeps my gut from spasms. I would get bouts of constipation and then it would let up. Serotonin keeps it all relaxed but now that I have enough, the serotonin is being shared in my brain. I can approach life much more relaxed. From the age of four I had sever hyperhidrosis and no one ever said it could be cured but I feel like I am. Between the massive antibiotics which were necessary as they saved my life, but my mother did not know how to help me feel better, so I did a lot of suffering. I stuttered terribly which is also an indicator of low serotonin. The stuttering ceased at age 18, but I also made a few good health choices then like steady exercise and eating whole wheat cereal and bread. I play the piano and it has gotten much better the more I tweet my diet and keep myself compliant with my goals, my stiff muscles are relaxed. It is a new world. Would have loved if I had been raised eating as I do now. I am 67, there would have been so much I could have done. With the sweating condition, I was so humiliated when I would go out, I did not want to leave the house. Children can be so cruel. I was in an accelerated class in grammar school and bright kids don't use their smarts for being kind. My 6th grade year, over the summer, three students committed suicide and I thought about it a lot but did not do it. We have some good news, our middle son and his wife had twin baby boys today. She had to deliver by C-Section. They are really beautiful babies and fairly large considering that they are preemies. One is normal size but the other is smaller. Due to the anesthetic, and being a month early they are having a bit of trouble understanding to nurse. These are my daughter-in-law's first babies. She did not attend La Leche League and I can't go to the hospital because only essential people can come in do to the Covid-19 issue. I nursed all three children over 2 years each so I rather could make a few suggestions. I'm sure they'll get passed this hump. But once she is home I can stop by and help her. She'll be in the hospital till Friday. Glad for all the positive changes, Jessica and Ryan.

Do you distinguish between starchy vegetables, whole grain (oil Free) bread, and whole grains such as brown rice and wheat berries? I ask because I am really confused about what distinctions I should be making even though I keep rereading Dr. McDougall’s stuff and the FOK stuff... Could you please do an episode on what you personally are doing? I realize what is right for you may not be right for me, but I do think knowing what you do would help me clarify my own thoughts and concretize what I have been reading.
@JustineMertz4 жыл бұрын
i would say whole grain breads are great but they are more processed and calorie dense... so for weight loss its probably best to skip the whole grain breads (or eat them sparingly) and just eat the whole grains. when I recently dropped the bread, I immediately lost almost 4 lbs 😂
