I soak 4 cups dry garbanzo beans in water overnight. Drain, put in my 6 qt Instant Pot, cover with water 1 inch above the beans. Cook 12 minutes, natural release. I think the presoaked beans make smoother hummus.

Darling Jessica, 1st) Yes, those bags have a 'secret' way of opening 😊 - but no worries - it's just good to know if you plan on re-using the bag. 2) Not everything is a better deal from Amazon. And if you (or your viewers) don't have enough room for *25 lbs* of chickpeas, don't worry... Natural Grocers has *ORGANIC* garbanzo beans for $3.89/2lbs - that's less than any chickpeas on Amazon. If you don't have a Natural Grocers near you, I'm sure there are other local stores that carry them. Their organic "bulk" herbs and spices are also extremely well priced, and you can find almost anything you can think of there. I put "bulk" in quotations because they charge bulk prices for little bags of these things - no reaching into a bin that everyone else has reached in or breathed into. Just great deals! [I'm not an affiliate, nor am I getting paid by anyone 😜 - I'm just a very frugal shopper. I'm an old woman on a very strict budget.] Thanks for everything you two do for us!! ❤

I loved the casual feel of this video and feel like we can all relate right now to just going with the flow and getting weird. Big bag of chickpeas sounds like a great idea. This quarantine has taught me that I need more glass storage containers because I'm cooking more and running out of vessels for my leftovers. Also your video reminded me of the importance of having some semblance of a routine throughout the day, like taking your vitamins at the same time each day. Tiny routine moments help balance out the flowy energy of all the free time.

The part about Jessica being stubborn with the anxiety meds is so relatable to me. I was on meds on and off since 16. A couple years ago I had a bad breakdown and tried to take the meds again and the first couple days I had a weird reaction to them. I felt like I was high and had horrible anxiety, hot flashes, etc for a couple days. I threw the rest in the trash. I probably should be on something but I just can’t stand the side effects and it worsens my anxiety to have that adjustment period in the beginning when they mess with your mind and make you feel off. I would love to hear your story. From one Jessica to another!

We love the convenience, and are overall pleased with the taste, and texture of canned beans. That said, chickpeas are the exception. We much prefer chickpeas cooked fresh rather than canned. Totally not necessary, but I prefer to pop the the bean shell/skin off chickpeas before eating them. Can be tedious, but I just turn on a podcast or KZbin video and before I know I am done. This step is super helpful when making hummus as it helps make your hummus really creamy (especially when you aren’t adding fat to make it creamy). I don’t know if that’s science or not, but it’s what works for us. 🤷🏻♀️

No need to cut the bag. That’s why they leave the loose strings. Also, I recommend going through the beans first to make sure there aren’t any stones and give them a good wash/rinse. I prefer to soak the beans first because I worry about overloading the instapot. Can’t wait for the creole sauce recipe 😁

Thank you for these videos! I wanted to say that if you'd like to try another way to fight frizz on wavy/curly hair, you can dry your hair with something that's not a terrycloth towel. I know people who follow the curly girl method use t-shirts a lot to dry their hair. It's so simple, but it's kind of amazing how much it reduces the frizz. I have very fine curly hair, so it's both frizzy AND has no volume. 🤨 Somehow... lol. But use your hat if you love it, of course. Just sharing new info. Anyway, thanks again for the videos!

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin so you might want to take it with some avocado or a spoonful of peanut butter to better absorb it :)

R B This is true. Vitamin D is actually a hormone ( not a vitamin ) that regulates melatonin, (another hormone) and may improve sleep. Vegans should ALWAYS take vitamin B12, but in the morning. Taken at night it may interfere with sleep

Jessica, if your hair is frizzy when you dry it naturally, you probably have wavy/curly hair! You should try following the curly girl method and see what happens. You'd be surprised at what texture may result. I went my whole life thinking I just had yucky, frizzy hair, when I secretly had waves and curls hiding in there..
@asgharakram3 жыл бұрын
Coconut oil or almond oil is good for your hair also helps any frizzy hair. Just rub a little in your hair
@emalymick3 жыл бұрын
@@asgharakram Oils are very good at trapping in moisture, true, but the only problem is that they are hard to remove from your hair - they stick onto your hair shaft almost like a silicone. Then you end up stripping your hair by having to use a harsh clarifying shampoo. Super coarse/coily textures might do well with oils, but a simple water soluble gel goes a long way for most people!
