"...For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence-on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific, and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised..." John F. Kennedy "Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces." (Daniel 7:23) Very excited to be starting the whole food, plant based lifestyle. Thanks for your videos.

1. Potatoes. You always have fast food on hand if you bake them once a week and keep them, uncovered, in the fridge. 2. Treats. Have at least 2 or 3 favorites to fall back on. Like air-popped popcorn mixed with a little chili garlic sauce. Frozen cherries warmed up with some cocoa (or cacao) powder. Homemade corn tortilla chips with homemade hummus. Compliant apple/banana/oatmeal cookies in the freezer: same ingredients as breakfast, but it's a cookie. A BIG cookie 😊. 3. Spices. Pretend to be Brian and explore new options. I love quinoa mixed with grapes, pineapple and tarragon, served warm. Never knew what tarragon was before. It's not a diet. It's discovering great food and great people like Jessica and Brian. It takes time but, eventually, it really is fun!

I stumbled upon your videos about 3 weeks ago. I'd been thinking of adding a few vegetarian meals per week but I hadn't even done any searches online yet. I've been binge watching ever since and I'm reading Eat to live now. I used to think vegans were extremists and here I am planning on doing whole foods plant based! You two are amazing! I love how real you are. You don't preach or act perfect, you just give your experiences and helpful hints. You look amazing! To anyone telling me they want to eat more like me, but they "could never give up things", I advise looking at it as adding good stuff rather than getting rid of bad ones. Eat big soup/salad (or other WFPB meal) first and then follow with couple of bites with your beloved "not so good for you" food. Want to snack on chips? Put a handful on the plate together with baby carrots, bell peppers or other raw veggies: you still get to eat chips, but veggies will fill you up, provide you with nutrition and dilute those calories you would have gotten if that was just chips. Not everyone can jump to whole plant eating overnight, some people need more time to adjust - and that's ok. Thank you for your amazing channel, Krocks, happy new year and best of luck!

Am SO glad that you reminded folks its a LIFESTYLE. And I want people to know they need to stop thinking its a form of punishment rather than an awesome opportunity to be the best one can be along with eating awesome whole foods that are not processed but feed the eyes as well as my body. Was reminded recently when dining out that the upscale restaurant we were at charged $15 for a small bowl of the plant based soup we made at home for $5 for four people.

I really appreciate your videos and the journey you have shared. I started WFPB in November and lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks, then Thanksgiving came and I gained 6 pounds. It was a struggle to lose it again because I kept watching videos that said to 'eat as much as you want', which is not true. Then I found calorie density videos that helped to clarify where the 'as much as you want' really comes from. I started losing weight again by eating one big salad each day, fruit smoothie for breakfast and snacks, and one meal with quinoa, rice, beans, potato or other carb (portion controlled). This is working much better and I feel better overall as well. Thanks for your videos and positive outlook.

@@tammierenee8835 You dont need to do these 200%.. its basically a set of guidelines, not a set of rules. There is no reason to be perfectly strict about it, as the whole "cheating" mentality leads to warped way of seeing food.

Good for you, Sue Burt! You might also like the success stories on the Forks over Knives website...especially when you get comments from trolls discouraging you [!] Despite the loud mouth millennial youtubers, most people do VERY well on a WFPB diet. I'm mostly vegan [I'll have a little junk once in a while that has small amounts of milk or egg] and my BMI went from 29 to 25, labs are all good, allergies are better, perimenopause symptoms are improved. Once you get a few good recipes under your belt, it's pretty easy. You'll do well!

I'm retired and live alone so I don't really need to cook large batches and freeze them. (Personally doing that gives me stress anyway.) The only thing I really make that's (easy) and large batches are of 2 specific soups. My go to meals I do make a lot are Vegetable cabbage, mixed veggie soup. (Sometimes with tofu, sometimes with beans.) I make a large batch and then at given meal I add tofu or beans or even Gardien meatless meatballs for protien. The other one is brown lentil soup that includes onions, celery, carrots, spinach, garlic, and then green spring onions on the top. I started 10/4/19, as of today I lost 44 lbs.

It's just my husband and me and we've never really made large batches and frozen them. Now I'm rethinking that. We've had a really bad few days (husband had to have to have emergency surgery on Saturday--everything is fine, didn't have to even stay overnight in the hospital). The absolute last thing I wanted to do after the complete stress of Saturday was come home and cook (after the stress of getting to the hospital (I don't drive for several reasons), the surgery, getting home, etc., when we got home I was absolutely exhausted and then I had to go cook, and of course, hubby was in no way able to help). I would have given my eye teeth to have been able to take something out of the freezer and throw it in the microwave. So I think we're going to start doing batches and hope we never "need" them again!

I love these tips. My sister is once again starting a “diet” in the new year. So many failures because she isn’t treating it as a way of eating for the rest of her life. I so wish she would just watch you guys to see how it can be done, even if it isn’t WFPB. I love her and I want her to get healthy. Keep on being great motivators! My best tip is, don’t expect the new food to taste exactly like your old food because you will be disappointed and you will quit. Don’t just change your way of eating, change your perception of eating.

One of my favorite tips had to do with seasoning recipes. Since there's no danger of eating something raw like when cooking with animal products, it's always safe to taste as you're cooking. So if you're making a recipe and wonder if the seasoning is enough, taste it and add more. Don't wait until you remove a baked item from the oven and serve it to discover that it's bland. It seems like a super simple thing, but it changed my approach to cooking, and I've had to toss way fewer unsuccessful meals since then.

I started out my adventure by checking out a large stack of vegan cookbooks from my local public library and I also joined a vegan cookbook club that meets there once a month. My 3 big tips when starting out are first to know that it will take awhile to calibrate and find your balance for food intake and energy levels, so always have a snack at the ready. I always carry a handful of nuts or a piece of fruit. You will be eating larger quantities of healthy foods and possibly more often than before on the SAD diet and it takes a bit to figure that out, don't let yourself get hangry! Secondly, batch cooking is key. I make big pots of soup and freeze pints in mason jars perfect for quick meals on the go or at home for when my partner is having a meal I can't veganize. On that note, my last tip is that lots of "regular" foods can be made vegan. Chili, spaghetti, sloppy joes using lentils, etc. Don't get too wrapped up in worrying about what you'll make to eat. Make what you already know how to cook and just start by adapting the recipes to WFPB and expand your "go to" recipes like Brian and Jessica did gradually. Love this channel and the Krock's amazing and inspiring adventure! P.S. I just celebrated my one year veganniversary!

Years ago when I was carrying a rocker upstairs I had this light bulb moment when I realized how much I could do without carrying around extra weight. I didn’t have to wait for someone to help me, I could do it. Finding those moments of freedom were bliss! My side hustle is working as a Master Gardener. This summer I reworked 8 total gardens for one client. I brought in $2k in new plants and spread 10 cubic yards of mulch. Standing back and looking at the end result I couldn’t have done it if I was still heavy. Hope that clarifies things.

You guys are so inspiring! I'm glad to see you guys back. I'm going through old videos so I can get some tips for switching over to a whole foods diet. I just had a lot of bloodwork done this week and it wasn't good. Praying I can turn this around.

Love you both! Such inspiration! The ten tips that are here in this vlog are great. I have to have structure too. Without it, I'm a mess. I am presently reading Eat to Live by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. I am on vacation and am obsessed with finishing this book before I go back to work and school very soon. I've been a vegan for decades but have not done a lot of reading about lifestyle changes because of "opinions" not facts. I know what works for me. I'm looking to eliminate stress and get more structure in my life. Thanks for all of your positiveness.

Tips to go along with your stellar list- (a) make a point to visit your local farmer’s market regularly, get to know your local farmers, it helps make grocery shopping more about relationships and reality as opposed to compulsive habits spurred on by commercials, (b) change your relationship with food by keeping a food diary for at least a week, see what you actually eat and take note of emotional precursors to binging or unplanned fasting, (c) to go along with B try some emotional regulation tools like breathing exercises, journaling, prayer, or meditation to assist you in keeping food as fuel, not as a coping mechanism, (d) tell a few trusted people about any bad habits you notice in that food diary and ask them to gently remind you about your commitment to eating WFPB by using a fun but mysterious secret code word or gesture or physical object that YOU have determined won’t shame you, (e) choose the grocery stores for your regular grocery shopping carefully, map out the store and determine your danger zones as well as the aisles where you need to focus. For me this has meant primarily shopping in the produce & bulk sections, avoiding the chips or cracker aisles, etc. (f) shop with a buddy who will help you keep your resolve, (g) work hard at not thinking or talking in terms of bad and good foods, even though you are aiming at the healthiest options...black hats won’t help you break habits that are likely rooted in shame, (h) be choosy, not judgy, like you want your kids to be when choosing a life partner...out of all the myriad options, what is BEST for me that I also enjoy? Do that. (i) Aromatics are your friend in health and there is just no reason not to use copious amounts of onions, garlic, herbs, and spices. (j) Grow anything you possibly can, even on your counter or window sill. Fresh parsley, lemons, kale, carrots, etc. are all pretty easy to grow and make a big difference on your plate. (k) do meal prep or batch cooking with someone else on a similar plan whenever you can. (l) Have a fun progressive dinner, soup sampler, or spud ‘n such party with other vegan friendly folks. At the latter, baked potatoes are provided by the host and attendees bring toppings like broccoli, vegan cheese sauce, vegan chili, diced green onion, vegan sour cream, salsa, curry, etc. (m) share recipes with others in your community along with favored products at certain stores, (n) find vegan restaurants and/or caterers in your area and support them, send them referrals, hire them for events, have family gatherings there, etc.

Tip #7!!! I didn’t stumble this holiday season. I purposely allowed myself to eat what I wanted. I allowed this knowing that it would be “rare and appropriate”. I’ve been WFPB since beginning of October 2019 and am down 57 pounds. Even with the less than stellar diet at Thanksgiving I still lost 2+ lbs!! I haven’t weighed since Christmas Day when I was at 57 lbs down. The craziest thing about eating this way is how DRAMATICALLY my cravings for crappy S.A.D. food has diminished. I no longer miss sodas, cheese, candy bars, fast food, etc...

Stumbled on you by accident adn went immediately to your first video and left this comment: "As a 70-year-old Vegan (for ten years) I would never recommend this start to a WFPBD, but if it works, then I'm all for it. Perhaps instead of loathing the humble potato, you could instead glorify and honor it. Mr. Potato got you going and tested your resolve. If it were me, every time I passed the potato section in my grocery store, I would pause to pay homage. The potato is your family's best friend and most likely saved at least one of your lives. Without a doubt, you will add a few decades to those lives and they will be active and vibrant. My best to you both." My need for instant gratification forced me to come to your newest and I am glad I did. Look at the self-confidence you both exude. Look how it has even influenced your appearance. You rock that do, girl and sir, you ain't lookin' bad either.

Our dog got a cold and didn't eat for a while so we had to get some canned food and my husband bought some frozen lamb and she loves it but I have not been exposed to having to defrost or cook meat and it just makes me gag now. It smells like what it is, a corpse and you are cooking it. Barf, how did I live for so many years doing that? I'm so glad I finally grasped it. I am glad that there is encouragement here because it really helps me to try new things and not to throw in the towel. We all struggle sometimes. My health is so much better now.

You guys are just flat out inspiring 👍 thanks for your tips and videos, I enjoy them a lot. I eat 90 % Whole Foods plant based (kept in an egg now and then and occasional fish meal when I go to restaurants). I agree batch cooking works. I batch cook steel cut oatmeal and a big pot of chili, veggie bean soup or lentil stew every Sunday and freeze what I can’t eat that week. Makes life way easier.

I loved the video, I am new in this but loving it already. My tip would be explore Indian cuisine. My partner is Indian so we were pretty much vegetarian before. My switch from animal protein to vegan diet did not feel that harsh because Indian cooking is so full of vegan options. This ancient culture have communities that have been vegan for millennia and we all can just check there for finding endless options and you will never feel you are eating just salads.
