Here's another bonus benefit: We used to throw out about one 33 gallon trash bag per day. All of the take out containers, pizza boxes, and packaging. Our garbage is picked up on Monday morning and I just a few minutes ago (Thursday Afternoon), threw out our first bag of garbage. So at this rate, instead of seven 33 gallon bags per week we'll be tossing at most two 33 gallon bags.

Love you guys, your'e so open and real. My wife and I started on a vegan diet nine months ago and it completely changed our lives. It started with a phone call from my gp telling me to go on a low fat diet, my cholesterol was high, BP was high, and my A1C was high. Six and a half years ago I was diagnosed with stage four neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer and the doctors all said I had about two years. My oncologist suggested I consult with their staff nutritionist to help fight my cancer, but I figured with only two years left, why bother. During the last six years, I've had two rounds of y90 glass beads in my liver and four major surgeries. Spare parts removed: spleen, 50 percent of my liver, 12" of upper colon, 6" of lower colon, appendix, gallbladder, 60 percent of my pancreas and the seven inch primary tumor, chunk off one kidney three tumors off my pelvic wall, and over twenty lymph nodes. Every six month scan would find new tumors and any existing ones were doubling in size on every new scan. I was okay with cancer killing me but I was damn sure I was not going to die from a preventable disease. So I went on youtube and found all the plant based doctors and watched hundreds of videos last November and Dec 1, we switched over night. In the first thirty days I dropped twenty pounds and lowered my cholesterol from 255 down to 155, LDL 158 down to 78, triglycerides 174 down to 86, blood pressure 140/80 down to 116/60. Fast forward to today, my wife has lost 64 pounds and I've lost 47 . This was great but the best results were found on my last CT scan. No new tumors and existing ones showed no new growth!!! Here is a typical day of eating: 4 to six bananas, 3 mandrins, 1/2 pond of grapes, two pounds of blueberries, 1/2 pineapple. This was on top of two or three plates full of steamed broccoli, green beans, brussel sprouts, onions, mushrooms, carrots, and a big helping of garlic potatoes or white rice. On my last check up I was more worried about my blood work than I was about my scan. I was eating tons of fruit and carbs and according to all these keto quacks, my blood sugar should have gone through the roof. Not to worry though, A1C went from 6.3 down to 5.7 and that's with less than 1/2 of a pancreas. I kept hearing about how cancer loves sugar. Wrong !!! Cancer is fueled by IGF1 which is elevated by eating animal products and saturated fat... Keep up the great work, your'e saving more lives than most Drs.

So proud that you have 1,000,000 people tuning in. America is becoming aware as to how much we have been deceived by the people who make money from the foods which are not even good for us. No one wants to be overweight or fat and especially not obese. But on the SAD diet (Standard American Diet) it may not happen to everybody but in time the pounds start piling on. Jessica, you were right to be concerned that Brian could have a heart attack. So pleased you are having this journey together and are both on board for your health and happiness. Thanks for including us all in what you have discovered. It is one thing to listen attentively to diet doctors like Dr. John McDougall (The MAN!) but to hear from real people who are making WFPB (Whole Food Plant-Based) work, it just keeps me pumped to keep at it. My husband did have a gallbladder surgery but.... he healed twice as fast as people who are half his age. He came home having stayed 2 nights in the hospital whereas many stay in fact most, stay 3. He had no pain, he was nearly off pain meds and has taken two pain pills since he came home. Plant-based allows us to heal twice as fast. Even if I get a cold, I am over it in a day or two. Now I have a bad back, before my back went out, I'd be in a wheelchair each time for a month and that was 4 times a year. My back may get sore enough to use a wheelchair rarely, but I am in the chair only one day or just a part of a day. So up to 4 days vs. 4 MONTHS! This is honestly W-A-A-A-A-Y better!

You guys have been so inspirational and I've taken all sorts of notes on your recipes, meal ideas, and daily eating ideas. I have already switched to potatoes as I've been recovering (mostly mashed plain or baked plain) and I figure this is an easy way for me to make the transition....(I can't really each much food as I'm recovering, so killing two birds with one stone so to speak). Anyway....thank you!!! I'm excited to binge on your videos in the coming days and weeks.

Seven years ago when I was 65 I switched from a traditional meat based diet to a Vegan Plant based diet. My primary reason for switching was Chronic Acid Reflux, I not only was able to stop all Acid Reducers but I also lost weight, have more energy, and other than age related health issues am in better health. One thing that surprised me was not only do I not miss meat I now find meat repulsive. I have tried to encourage family and friends to go on Vegan Plant based diet with no success so am very glad to see how many people are being influenced by your channel. Another great thing is that your are doing it as a couple. My wife still eats a very meat based diet so we both cook our own meals so I envy your being able to encourage each other in the new lifestyle. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, Brian and Jessica, for being here and creating such a wonderful community. What has surprised me the most is that I used to love the smell of driving past McDonalds or Burger King, even when I was a vegetarian, but now the smell makes me sick. Since going oil-free, I cannot stand the smell of any kind of fried food, even sauteed veggies in oil. I also love how fast clean-up is in my kitchen now that I don't have to clean greasy dishes and pots and pans. While I was just a vegetarian, I still consumed dairy and was always congested with a stuffy nose most of the time. Now since going WFPB, no stuffy nose or congestion. The only food surprises I've had is just how much I love the taste of veggies now without gobs of butter or sauces. I was always a butter girl. Now I am happy with just a few sprinkles of herbs and spices. My last surprise is the joy of cooking again. Since I am trying to make some of my favorite foods fit into the WFPB way of cooking, I am just thrilled experimenting in the kitchen now. My appliances are my best friends and the foods I create are a blessing.
@KrocksInTheKitchen5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Clean up is definitely a lot faster these days... I didn't even think about that! Although we do use a TON of dishes now since we make everything and barely ever go out. But definitely less scrubbing. It surprised us too how good veggies can taste without oil and butter. It takes time to adjust, but it is definitely worth it in the end. That is great that you can find such joy in cooking... Brian is the same way, as you can tell. He just loves experimenting. I actually enjoy doing the grocery shopping, organizing, and helping him prep. It is kind of therapeutic for me. Thanks for watching :)

Lol, who cares, that's meaningless?! Nutritionists are unqualified hacks anyway. Very prone to quackery and believing whatever fad B.S. is popular. Dieticians are way more qualified and the vast majority of them do not support Veganism or plant based. They will support a person no matter the diet, that their job, but their opinion on Veganism is usually negative. How is trying to convert people to a problem riddled, high failure eating disorder, "a positive difference in the world"? Lol, not when it damages people's health like it does the vast majority of the time and they quit that nonsense?! You're NOT an Herbivore, go educate yourself, quack.

Congrats on the million!!!! Like you, I now LOVE my big salads and all my food. I'm with you on the avocado dislike too, Jessica. I've never been able to like them and recently I tried to do vegan keto. Clearly to do that, you need lots of "oily" foods like avocado, so I gave it another try. This time I realised that not only do I feel repelled by it, I felt horrible afterwards. So, I looked it up and discovered that avocado intolerance is a real thing (it's a FODMAP food). I'm learning to trust my body more and realize that keto isn't for me- whole food plant based is where I've always done best. Without avocados. lol.

I used to hate potatoes and rice, now I love both.I used to love yams/sweet potatoes, and butternut squash, now I hate them the texture and sweetness do not work for me. I used to be a cheese fiend, I recently tried my favorite cheese which was munster and now it tastes like a barnyard, really musty and gross. Whenever I think about apples I'm bored, but when I eat one it's the best thing I've ever tasted! It's true tastebuds change so much.

I ate it and thought I was going to be sick! It totally tasted like a full-on BARN. Ick. I thought I would never be able to quit cheese. SO glad I was wrong.

Y’all are so cute! The sincerity oozes in each video. Been WFPB for 18 months so far. The weight loss (for me!) has ceased for now, but man am I a ton healthier! I also found foods that I now love, that I thought I would never come to like (like avocados, tofu, and cauliflower tacos). Even my wife of nearly 30 years has started eating healthier (much to her surprise) and even said last night that she doesn’t crave bacon and steaks anymore and looks forward to her rice and fruit dinners. It’s folks like you who keep providing inspiration that make this journey pleasant and possible, even for old dogs like us. Thanks for not hiding your light under a bushel-basket!

Congrats on the million views! A couple foods I used to hate but enjoy now are beets, Brussels sprouts and radishes. A very strange side effect of this WOE for me was that I stopped chewing my fingernails after 45 years. Clearly, I’ve been deficient in some nutrient most of my life, and plant based eating resolved it in a way that other methods never did.

thruErinseyes I also get sick way less often and assume at least part of that is not having my fingers in my mouth all the time. It was bad enough, people noticed and would comment. Even after a couple years not biting my nails, I still am shocked to see white free edges on my nails.

I used to hate Brussels spouts because they'd been cooked in water for about an hour for Christmas lunch. Then I heard about slicing them in half and dipping them in olive oil and putting them cut side down on a baking tray and cooking them at a high heat for about 25 minutes. Absolutely delicious, I will eat them so from now on ! (Been vegan for 2.5 years)

Ditto on the disappearing allergies. I skipped my hay fever last Spring, going from the strongest over the counter anti-histamine to none because I didn't start sniffling and didn't realise it was Spring until it was nearly summer. So surprised. And pleased. Yeah, and the chairs around here could do with a bit more padding too.

@@oneofgodschildren No, it's not amazing, too much Fiber is irritating to the gut and humans were never built to eat grains. Good grief you people know nothing about nutrition or Human Physiology. Plants have numerous anti-nutrients/nutrient blockers and cause gut distress, permeability (like leaky gut) etc. You are NOT an Herbivore. For example, 1 hour after peanuts were ingested the Lectins in them were detected in the bloodstream and that is only one of many kinds of Lectins in plants. That's just one anti-nutrient/nutrient blocker, there's numerous others, like Saponins, Phytates, Oxylates, Goitrogens etc.

@Bill Does Stuff unfortunately has no clue what he is talking about. What do you have on your regular meal plate ? Believe it or not most of the stuff is plant derived!! The problem is that it's highly refined which means all the nutrients and fibre have been removed. Go and look up all the causes of gastric problems and you'll find that 99% of them are related to bad diet (ie meats, dairy and refined plant products). Constipation is very common problem and it's due to what I've just said. But you know better because you're a nutrtionist and an MD right ? No probs if you're not because I'm not listening to people like you anyway !!!
