Why they made it so the KS23 doesn't dismember people seemingly at all, at least in your footage, is beyond me. It doesn't even need to be good, just have incredible visual feedback for me to likey, although a bunch of utility ammo/options based on all the fun stuff they make for it irl was something I was expecting and hoping for too.

A lot of Insurgency would be fixed IN GENERAL if they put in some extra spice to mechanics and loadouts. I yearn to be able to choose ammo types for rifles again let alone shotguns. More GL types and ammo capacity so there's a point to them over rockets, being able to collapse stocks on guns with collapsing stocks, being able to have more than one addon on both sides of the rails, having something as simple as a sling or a side grip on machineguns, etc. Nobody cares that much about balance when there's already some really downright criminal shit in the game.

Some more GL options would be nice. A lower yield explosive shell that has a wider splash but only really kills if it lands on top of you would be a nice way to introduce a shell that you can have more of if they're worried about GL spam. Gas shells for both GLs and the KS-23 would be sick too. Make it slightly less damaging than the chemical mortars and incapable of actually killing or something like that. Snipes mentioned it in the preliminary review of the update but making the KSG be able to load two different shell types between the tubes would've been sick. Just have two ammo selections in the mod menu and you only reload the tube you have selected, and you have two reserve ammo pools. From a mechanical control perspective it wouldn't be any harder to manage or control then the current tube switching and reload system for the KSG.

As with anything NWI puts out, I have mixed feelings. The modeling, animations and sounds on this gun are stellar, on par with Tarkov, but on the other hand, they failed to put anything in this gun which really makes it special. There's an entire rogue's gallery of cool ass shells this gun uses that could be used by players to tactically control the battlefield, but they decided to use none of them and simply use the already existing shells that 12 gauge weapons use. The slug doesn't even act like the Barikada and kill an engine in one hit. Since shotguns are pretty much already a OHK at virtually any range, the KS-23 is just a regular shotty with half the mag size and worse recoil. I really, really hope they revamp this gun as it's one of my favorite irl guns and I can count the games that have it on one hand, and most misrepresent it even worse than Sandstorm

I like to comfort myself with the lack of special shells by thinking it was easier for the insurgency to get ahold of the shotgun, but much harder to find the specialty ammunition.

not really. any ammunition whatsoever for this gun is generally as rare as the actual piece. if anything the rounds such as rubber, plastic, and exploding/flash slugs are more commonplace as that's what the gun's designed to use.

Eh you do have a point, but specially ammunition would be hard to balance, or just something New World doesn’t want to deal with. Rubber rounds wouldn’t really do any good, as they aren’t used in situations where lethal force is imminent, explosive rounds would be OP as fuck. The flash rounds could be implemented, however,

@@The_Faceless_No_Name_Stranger Mostly because of a feature I just like. The bolt is telescopic, meaning when you charge the bolt, it doesn't actually stick out. But that is a bit nitpicking. The Senegalese one doesn't have that, but It would make more sense for insurgents to have it and security the Portuguese. I really want an AR10 and AR18 in the game.

no the suppressor is more so you can double the length of the gun and use it as a sniper rifle as everybody is aware of the fact that making the barrel longer makes the gun into a sniper weapon.

This video along with the fact that NWI refuses to add M1014 shows that they are really afraid to do anything that is truly innovative to the game. Maybe they are afraid to piss Insurgency 2 fans like me but we Insurgency 2 fans are actually open to new weapons (see workshop). I hope it is the coding issue that stops them from adding those cool stuffs because that is actually a good excuse.

I'm pretty sure the reason we don't see semi-auto shotguns in the game is because they would 100% dominate any close range engagement if implemented even halfway-decently and have everyone crying about balance, and if they implement them balanced around gameplay they'd have a bunch of people crying that it's unrealistic and a semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun should slap in CQC engagements.

I wonder if devs are scared to give us auto shotguns. I understand that the KS23 fits really well with the whole jail themed expansion, but you can't deny that it's a struggle to find a niche for this gun, and the KSG probably is similarly not some Earth shattering upgrade over the R870; but no doubt a SPAS 12 and an M1014 both would have been much easier to balance as a higher quality upgrade to the pump guns.

Fun fact! There are a few KS-23s in the US, but there's not many. Also, the KS-23's buckshot is similar to that of 3" magnum 00 12ga. Final fun fact, it was made with out of spec 23mm cannon barrels originally meant for the MiG fighter jets.

The barrels were quality control rejects, they are perfectly safe for use with 23mm shotgun shells but woukdnt be safe to use on a ZSU with actual autocannon rounds, in a way it's recycling :) also it dosnt shoot flashbangs, it produces the flash and sound from a massive specialty made blank round

This gun, from what I can tell (don't own sandstorm), would be massively improved if 1: It got the specialty shells. 2: You had the option of fitting the full-length stock and barrel to increase its deadliness at further distances. And 3: It generally doesn't care what part of you it hits and whether its got armor or not, you're still kinda screwed.

I have noticed that there is no "reload timer" per shell unlike the old shotguns: the ammo counter goes up only once the loading animation restarts instead of when the shell is visually in like the old ones. the KSG suffers the same bug but its more crippling with the ks23

ks 23 with "multishot / buckshot equivalent" Cartriges would have a worse range then a standard 12 gauge smoothbore due to rifling. that is because spinning a single projectile gives itmore accuracy but spinning buckshot spreads it out due to centrifugal force ( or was it centripetal, i cant remmember which is which)

It's always fun bringing the .50 out in coop on free weekends just to see the newbies react to the ragdoll shenanigans it pulls. That said, the KS-23 does get one 'advantage' over other shotguns in that it's ads speed seems to be rather quick. It's not enough to make up for the lacking capacity and iffy promise of 'moar damage' than an extant one-shot.

As cool as it is overall seems like a downgrade on your typical pump action. Oughta just give us the flashbang shells by default, maybe with some other specialty ammo type like frag rounds as an alt option with a 1 or 2 point cost. Buck and slugs always being the majority of your ammo type with something like 4-8 shells being either the flash or frags, loaded one at a time via the fire select key (Neotokyo had a shotgun functioning like this). Regular buck/slugs should also blast apart doors. Proper stock and longer barrel would be nice attachment options, 1 or 2 points each.

They should add the Barikada round. It was supposed to lodge in car engine blocks and stop them, so it would be an interesting addition if they added it and made it do that. By the way, a small correction, you cant find this anywhere outside of russia. There is a single civilian KS-23 in the USA, but thats it.

Even though you might be tempted to use slug dont. Use flechette. Its basically a shell full of metal shards which act like tiny little slugs. I can hit anything i point at.

Too bad they've never put back the old M1014 like in the first Insurgency game back in 2007. Maybe if they're concerned with semi-auto shotguns as being OP, they could nerf it a bit. They could turn the M1014 and maybe add the semi-auto shotgun like the MP-155 for insurgents into something like this: - Maybe the semi-auto shotguns costs 5 supply points. The most expensive shotgun for the breacher class. - Buckshot/flechette = 2 usually shots on CQB and at longer ranges = 3 shots. As long as these are not hitting the head which is always 1 shot or 2 if it's just one stray pellet hitting the helmet and not the skin/face areas. IDK. maybe. - 4-round tube like the civilian version as default for balancing purposes despite the extended capacity tube would be the most obvious for military use. They could just use the 7-round tube as part of an extended ammo accessory while maybe the 6-round tube for the MP-155. Maybe costing 2 or 3 supply points? - Slower reloading compared to the pump action shotgun for balancing. - Put some kind of delay per shot/pulling the trigger? So you can't fire it as fast as you can click your mouse similar to how you would do on semi-auto firing modes of other guns or pistols. Probably a bad idea. IDK. Just a thought. - Increase recoil a bit more. both horizontal and vertical. Now players are more inclined to use grips especially the recoil grip aside from the extended ammo accessory. Which then turns the gun even more expensive to use. - Slightly heavier than other shotguns. Probably on the unrealistic side again. But just another thing to consider for balancing purposes. - Since the semi-auto shotguns are super expensive, that will also add to the balancing by having less points to use on other auxiliary items or gears such as gas masks, throwables, armor, extra ammo capacity, or secondary weapons. Just a few ideas on how they could balance out semi-auto shotguns. If they ever plan on adding them.

A 12 Guage slug will 100% stop a technical vehicle i.e "truck" with a properly placed shot. Especially if it's a high velocity rifled slug which is for smooth bore barrels or a "sabot" slug for rifled barrels

Personally, I think NWI should stop pussyfooting around and just give us ammo conversion kits. KS-23 and all its cool but frankly terrifying shell selection. Turning the Scar into a 5.56 rifle. Turning the MK-18 to take 9mm mags (kinda gimicky then the others). At first I didn't like how the 5.45 plum mag was on the alpha ak when it also had the regular 7.62 drum, but it would be cool to convert it to either one since they added a PSO-1 to all ak variants.

While I know it doesn't exclusively pertain to the KS 23, I was a little disappointed that you didn't make some mention of NWI removing the fast pumping with the double mouse click. What's your take on the matter? I personally liked it and wished they wouldn't have removed such a unique mechanic as I believe it detracts from the shotgun experience and removes something that brough the guns more in line with the rest of the guns in the game. They could have even included is an attachment for supply points like the greased bolt for bolt action rifles. (Before anyone says it made shotguns OP, refer to this games faster fire rate auto snipers one shotting with even better bullet trajectory and a better ammo count).
