It's good for 790 adv R?
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Both bikes can use the same screens, there is no difference. But it is very ugly, I do not think it would look good. 👍
@march.48094 жыл бұрын
It looks really cool with just the lower piece fitted. It starts to look goofy when you add the other piece and move it to the higher settings. I bet the functionality is great though. I think I’m ok with the stock 790 S screen but I look forward to your review of this product.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Not sure about it, but it seems fine from the seat view. One day I’ll ride again and find out. 👍
@Kriselice4 жыл бұрын
Let's drop the look as long as we have the protection! Anyway, only the little windshield of the R is pretty ... I try them all, but there you have a move ahead, it suits me from the financial point of view !
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
I’ll decide if I can live with it (or not!) after a few hundred miles. But it looks like that will be a while given the lock down. I agree the R looks the best, but not so good on motorways. 👍👍
@alanwatts50914 жыл бұрын
As the Givi bracket fits to the gps mount can you still fit a gps here.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Yes it only uses the bolt holes, the GPS mount is unaffected.

Thank you very much for this and all your other clips. Regarding commentary on looks. I see the appeal in having something look nice, but for me - as architect Louis Sullivan said - form ever follows function. Here being, my function, would be to reduce unwanted air flow.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with that philosophy. But until I can ride 100 miles or so along a motorway I shall suspend judgement. It could be a while though... 👍

I don't mind the look but it's not as sexy as the stock windshield that's for sure. I did a 15500km trip last year with mixed road and offroad. A stock 790 r or s screen wouldn't have been at all suitable with weather, bugs, etc. I like that this can fold down out of the way offroad and then slide up to protect on road. It's practical that's for sure.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Well from rider's seat it looks okay. Obviously many people dislike the looks, including me, but to be fair, I'll make a judgement after 100+ miles mixed riding. The Puig is great for me also, apart from the wobbles. 😁👍

The bracket looks great but the outer screen is hideous. I would use the bracket with the inner screen only.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Yes I tried just using the bracket with my Puig screen, but wasn’t satisfied. I guess if it was an issue the top part could be removed after a long motorway journey. I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve ridden a few hundred miles with it. Could be a while though just now... 👍

Hey great video! I myself have the same screen on my VFR1200XD and would not want anything else, you will be amazed. In addition, I saw that you are now using a TomTom, you will also find much smaller and nicer streets with it than with the Garmin. I look forward to your first driving impressions. I myself would remove the upper windshield for video recordings, otherwise the camera will take up a lot of windscreen. Have fun, all the best and stay healthy!
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Hello. Yes I've used the TomTom for a while. Turn by turn built into the bike is good, but sometimes a GPS in eyeline is best. I think the Tiger 900 missed a trick not including the possibility. Until I can ride again, I can't say too much about the screen. Here's to better news soon. 👍

I have a KTM 890 adventure r and I want this windshield, but I have a question, what happens if I travel offroad with the windshield and the extension installed, in the lowest position, does it work? Because I know I can take the second screen out, but the thing is, where I live, I need to be on the road a lot to find off-road roads, so I need wind protection when I'm traveling on the road, until I get to the roads. dirt, so I need both protections, I raise the windshield when I'm on the road and lower it when I get to the off-road paths, will it work? Or will it vibrate a lot on the ground? Please somebody ?

Nice vid, it's a fugly screen but does the job, I have one on my V-Strom 650. I'm considering a 390 Adv for next bike & apparently that bike has the same front light & screen bracket arrangement so this screen should also fit the 390 Adv...

I think the 790 is ugly anyway -and I own one and love it. Adding a bit more ugliness isn't going to make much difference and if it fixes the buffeting ... Been tempted to order one of those Givi screens, but goodness knows how long it would take to get to NZ given the shape shipping is in at the moment. Reckon I'll be waiting for your full review.

My guess is that it will work well. But it does look terrible. I really don’t get it how KTM can fail to design a screen that works well when BMW stock screen is perfect. One of the reasons I sold my 790 in the end.

I hope to find out one day. Abiding by lockdown for now. Strange days, this could be the screen for them 😁👍
@garyl87644 жыл бұрын
Hi Codger, I have to agree with the 'ugly' team but I would be interested to see what the performance is like. You say to improve stability but I noticed that there is an amount of flexibility in the whole headlight mounting. Lets hope that we can get back on the bikes soon and have some road trips this year, stay safe. BTW worst case you could always use the top section of the 'Airflow' as a shoe horn 👞 🤣🤣🤣 sorry couldn't help it.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. Yes it certainly attracted a lot of comments. From the seat it looks fine. I can't make any judgement till I've done a few hundred miles. Also, as I will consider on test ride, yes it is much better braced, but as you say there is give in the headlight and is it better to let the screen flex freely, rather than transfer force to headlight? Maybe one day I'll find out. Bored, but playing it safe just now. 👍😁 I hope you and family are all good. 🤞

So, not an install video. Not an assessment of the screen’s performance. What exactly is this video? A lot of talking. No close-up of the bracket install. I don’t really understand what this video was for. Opening a box? More talking?

That’s correct - genre defying! Unfortunately we had an inconvenience called Lockdown over here for 12 weeks, there is a virus which has, so far, accounted for tens of thousands of lives. We were not allowed to ride. But eventually we were allowed out again: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onvIgGuHe5aSoac (Warning, may contain talking😁 )

Oh damn - I didn’t see the date. You weren’t allowed to ride at all? Oh, man, that is a tough one.
@ulyssescale4 жыл бұрын
The Givi Airflow along with the base screen is horrible in the city. It shakes so much it is distracting. But if you take away the Airflow screen and just leave the base screen for daily riding, then you won’t notice any shaking at all.The base screen sits pretty far away from the motorcycle, which is a little weird. But it performs well at speed on the highway. The adjusting Airflow screen eliminates almost all buffeting, but noise is increased, but I think it is because of the way the base screen is mounted. This Givi model definitely cures the problems KTM created by putting the OEM screen so close to the position where the GPS mount is.
@CodgerBiker4 жыл бұрын
No Problem 😉 Yes I decided it was all a bit too 'busy' for me. I prefer the sleeker lines of the Puig Touring screen. BUT I have to say it does what it claims. I thought the Puig was smooth, but after the Airflow I realised it still could be be better. But not enough to warrant all that extra metalwork, for me anyway. I think maybe if I was taller, or a long distance commuter, I'd really consider it - looks notwithstanding.
