Look up Moravia wine region. The southeastern part of the country is famous for wine and it is packed with beautiful villages with wine cellars and there are lots of events when you go around them by buses taste wine. There is lot of food and local folklore involved. I would say this is not really discovered by the western tourist yet and it is lovely.

I only saw (I think it was) one of the other church grounds, (this place had a concession stand), then we had a lunch break in a nearby square, then of course we went to the other church with the bones that are so famous. Maybe one more place briefly, then back to Prague. I'd have come to this city by myself had I known there was so much to see.

I think the Cathedral’s location was to serve the Miners, since mining operations were away from the town center? BTW Valery; love your personality. Mad sarcasm!
@RealPragueGuides3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for guessing! It's a good guess but the reason was a little different. The mining shafts were right below the town and this was the most solid bedrock they could find in the area. Building it within the city was impossible because of the ground instability.
@jirim7273 жыл бұрын
Great video! But why is the unfinished cathedral near the forest? I need answers.
@RealPragueGuides3 жыл бұрын
Because the ground in the town was not stable enough to build, some mining shafts were even below the town. When they were building the church of St. James it started to tilt due to the crack in the bedrock and here where St. Barbara stands today, was the most solid bedrock to build :)

Hi, very nice video. However I am pretty sure the name Kutná Hora, or the first part of it, is not derived from kutna - monk's robe - and that it is in fact an adjective derived from the verb kutat(i), archaic synonym of kopat, to dig. Thus Kutná Hora means a mountain of digging, or a mountain where they dig. In older literature this town is often being referred to in plural, e.g. v (or na) Horách Kutných, which reveals even more strongly the nature of the word Kutná as an adjective.
